Awesome place. One of the jewels of Austin private clubs. Incredible food and service. Nestled in the heart of Tarrytown, it is an old school club with class and style. If you get a chance to go, I highly recommend it.

Dear Mr. Tarry House server, You may have been new, we may have been cruel. But frankly, how can eight people be wrong when they all agreed the food was decent but your service was horrendous. At the end, we agreed you were probably nervous. How else can someone mess up nine orders when we only made eight? You astounded us with your mediocrity. Half of us ordered soup, and half of us ordered salad. Everyone who ordered soup received a salad and everyone who ordered a salad received a soup. At that point you should have just put the items in question on the adjacent table for us to walk over and pick up. You mispronounced half the names of the entrees. Our favorite was the new fish species you created, haliflunt — we thought we had misheard you but, nope — you repeated it three times. And poor Meg, she didn’t even get her entrée when everyone else did because you completely forgot about it. We constantly think back to that lunch and wonder if it had indeed been your first day. Or perhaps the sheer number in our party intimidated you. We’d like to hope it was something explainable. Everyone has bad days. Dear Reader, If you are ever invited to the member-only Tarry House, I suggest trying their Trout Amandine and their California Crab Salad. Oh, and their bread is fantastic!
