We’ve frequented Texas Chili Queens before at the Austin Sol games, but this time we tried the Houston Chili over Dirty Rice. Let me just say O.M.G! Quite probably my favorite non-BBQ food i’ve had since moving to Austin. We’ll be excited to get it again at our next game, and you should too!

Texas Chili Queens is PHENOMENAL. This is coming from a born and raised Texan who is very particular about her chili. I got to try this food truck on a Friday at Draught House. I hope they’ll be there every Friday because that would certainly make my whole week. I need to try all the chili! I went with the San Antonio chili over french fries. I wanted rice, and when I saw white trash brown rice I thought it actually meant brown rice. Turns out it’s actually white rice cooked in onion soup — yum! I’m going to get that next time for sure. Sounds right up my alley and it will pair so well with their chili. My mouth is already watering. The San Antonio chili was fantastic. I picked that one because it had no beans because beans don’t belong in chili, of course. This coming from a girl who loves beans and whose diet consists mainly of rice and beans. I love beans, but not in my chili. You can add toppings, too. I forgot all the options, but I added shredded cheese and jalapeños to mine. You can also add sour cream. I believe they are free of charge, but if there is a charge, it’s minimal. I love the whole concept of this place. My order was taken by the finest Queen this side of the Mississippi and did I mention I love the idea? I hope this food truck stays around for quite some time because I love everything about it. They seem to move around, so find out where they are whenever you’re feeling hungry and get yourself some delicious chili. They have multiple options with or without beans and they even have a vegetarian option, too. I love that this is a thing that exists in Austin. LOVEIT.

This was my first experience having this at Austin Beer Works. I had the San Antonio on Cheese fries and OMGYUUUUUM! It was the perfect amount of spice and the flavors were blended beautifully in the dish! I love the classic southern charm this truck embodies! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helped me pick out the right dish for me based on my preferences! I can’t wait to have it again! This is A MUST if you come across this food truck!

Two stars for the friendly service and clean-looking«kitchen»(this is a food truck). I ordered the San Antonio, which has no beans. I did not opt for cornbread or Fritos — just chili, Texas style. It was VERY salty and I had some weird crunchy bite(not sure what it was). It was so salty and heavily seasoned, I could only eat a few bites. Great idea, but it just was not good. Maybe the other styles of chili they sell are better?

Choose your chili, choose what you want the chili to sit atop. Our favorite, without question, cornbread(sweet honey deliciousness!) Topped with green/white bean Houston chili… #yum! Honey-sweet service from Alice in Wonderman too.
