Texas Trail Rides

My daughter’s gymnastics meet brought us to Austin from New York. I booked this ride after reading great reviews on Unilocal and I’m glad I did. It took a little bit of phone tag to set up our appointment with Emily and she was so nice. I suggest mentioning the Unilocal check in deal over the phone, otherwise there is no way to redeem it on ride day.
We rode the Johnson City property and it was about 50 minutes from where we stayed, we weren’t too prepared for an almost hour trip, but it was a great drive.
We were worried the weather was going to be an issue, forecast was calling for temps only about 40 degrees for our time frame, so we bundled up and brought gloves with us.
I’m not sure what we expected, I think maybe all of our other rides in different states have maybe been with more commercial companies, but we pulled up to a little stable area in a gated property and met our wrangler. I hate that I didn’t catch her name but she was so awesome!!!
My 7 year old has only really ridden a full trail ride once before so she really is a beginner and our wrangler took great care of her. They chatted on the trail and she offered my daughter little corrections as we rode. The trail was great and the horses were very well behaved!
We even got to meet the resident elders that get to roam the property!
Our wrangler set us up for a beautiful group picture before the ride was over and the pictures came out beautiful.
We chatted for a bit after our ride and my daughters got to feed their horses a handful of grain before we left.

We had so much fun. Thank yall for making my mom’s birthday so special. We loved our wrangler and the trail was beautiful and exciting. Very sturdy horses too. Don’t forget to check out the wine bar on the property!

Wife and I loved every minute of our 1.5 hour sunset horseback trail ride at their 300 arce hill country ranch near Johnson City. My first time riding so I did not know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Our horses were tame and very friendly. Brought some apples with me to «tip» the horses when we finished so hopefully they had a good time too. Based on my experience, I don’t think paying extra for a personal ride is worth it. Our ride consisted of me, my wife, and a guide (wrangler). After ride we went next door to Arc de Texas for some wine and a beautiful view of a perfect hill counrty sunset. Wouldn’t change a thing… keep doing what you are doing y’all!

We have ridden with this group at least half a dozen times, but this was by FAR my favorite ride of all. I spoke with Emily on the phone and informed her that this was our 4^th anniversary and we would love to celebrate on horseback. She allowed me to request a horse (and got him to the property for me to ride!) and did her best to get us a private ride since it was a special occasion. It turned out it was just the two of us, and Cassie, our wrangler, was absolutely the best we have had. She made sure we were having fun and allowed us to try new things within our ability level. She got us off the beaten path so we could see as much of the beauty that the 300 acre property has to offer in our 1.5 hour ride as possible. We had a blast and would highly recommend them to New horse riders as well as to seasoned people just looking to get out and have a good time. Word to the wise: be honest about what you are looking for in a ride and they will go out of their way to accommodate! Also, try out the Arc de Texas wine tasting room after. It has a beautiful view of the sunset as well as a wide array of wine to enjoy.

All four of our kids had a great time (3 yrs — 8yrs) learned about grooming, went for a fun ride and checked out some farm animals. Misty did a great job! Highly recommended intro to riding for kids!

So much fun! Emily, our guide, was great! Very informative, lots of fun. The horses were great, and the property was beautiful! Not far outside of Austin, absolutely worth the drive. A must do when in Texas.

My family had such a great time on our recent horseback riding adventure. Our wrangler Jessica was the best. She made sure all of us had an appropriate horse for our skill level and that all the horses in our group were well paired also. She gave us a quick but thorough overview of riding and we all felt very comfortable with her leading the charge. Off we went for an hour ride in some beautiful terrain including ranch roads, forest and creeks. We had a great time. Jessica even took a candid photo of us all while we were riding and sent it to us on or drive home.
Highly recommend it!

2^nd time partaking in the Texas Trail Rides with the family. The new ranch (past Salt Lick) is beautiful. Jessica, our guide, was funny and great with my daughter. Highly recommend TTR if you are hankering for a ride and seeing some beautiful Texas landscape.

We had a wonderful time at Texas Trail Rides. We went as three families with kids between 3 and 5. They were super with the kids. And the adults enjoyed it thoroughly. These are good folk. It is a great outing for the family.

Can’t say enough great things about my experience here. As a first time rider, I was very nervous but was quickly put at ease by wranglers Spike and Misty. Spike was a SUPER great guide (and photographer) and my boyfriend and I had an amazing time. I rode Julius, who was a sweetheart, and my boyfriend rode Harley. Money very well spent! Spectacular views and great conversation along the trails. This was the highlight of our TX trip. I recommend going in the morning (it’s cooler) and bringing water and cameras (pouches are on the saddles for small storage.)

Loved our trail ride on the 4^th of July. We went in the morning because we knew it was going to get hot! Luckily it stayed overcast until the last 20 minutes. My husband and I loved the location, horses, and wrangler Dan. Next time we’re in the area maybe we’ll do the vineyard ride.
I like that they keep the groups smaller and are very laid back. Our horses were Batman and Poncho.

This place is fantastic! Both my daughter and I take lessons here and they are so personal and thorough with each rider. They teach excellent horse care and riding skills for both western and English riders. The horses are so well cared for and clearly enjoy their «jobs»!
We will also be having my daughter’s birthday party here and are looking forward to a family trail ride since we’ve heard fabulous things about that experience as well!

I had the best experience for my first time horseback riding! I was sad my ride came to an end! Our wrangler misty was amazing with a great personality and very informative. $ 125 for 2 hr trails was worth it! Saw great views of downtown austin on the trail even a rattler! The horses were well taken care of and I highly recommend coming here and it was only 18mins from 1^st and E. Ben white!

This was certainly not our first trail ride on a family vacation nor was it our most interesting but the people at Texas Trail Rides did a nice job. They supplied us with water and made sure we were all comfortable during the experience. There were plenty of hands around to help us get on and made sure our horses were taken care. The owner even let me on her own personal horse because of my prior experience around horses which meant a lot to me because she seemed to genuinely care that we had a good time. The trail horses were well behaved without mindlessly following the lead horse like most trail horses do.
My only real criticism was the trail itself. We shared it with bikers which spooked the lead horse a little and made the rest a bit nervous every now and then. And it wasn’t like riding on beach with gorgeous views and scenery.
I would recommend picking a sunset ride to spruce up the scenery a bit but I would certainly suggest Circle C Ranch and Texas Trail Rides to anyone who’s looking.

We had a wonderful time! Tina is super nice and we love our instructor Brian and the horses! Definitely will recommend to anyone visiting Austin!

This was one of the funest things we have done in austin. The part i liked the most, was the love they show for the animals and how well treated they seem to be. The ride was fun, although i must confess my kids wanted to ride a bit «faster» but we werent allowed, im not sure why. They have afew other animals on property so its fun for the kids, they give you boots, and a helmet. Do wear long pants, and do wear something on your head. They have a lotvof horses on property, so half thevfun is meeting them and learning about them.

On a recent trip to Texas my 5yo daughters only desire was to go horseback riding in the «wild west». Texas hill country may not be the wild west, but it’s about as close as these New Yorkers are ever going to get.
When we showed up they showed us how to saddle and bridle the horses that we would be riding. Our guide was super attentive with my daughter and she loved the entire experience. It was the first time riding for both of us, they took us on a short walk of the perimeter of the property and then back to the barn. It was a perfect experience for first time cowboys \ girls.
Would highly recommend this to anyone that is in the Austin area looking to cowboy up!

Tina, the owner, is so awesome! Her customer service is superb. Since we arrived, we were treated with top notch service. We were lucky to have her as a guide and man was it an adventure from trotting with the horse to all the animals we came across. We saw a baby bunny, a wild turkey and her babies, and a close encounter with a rattle snake. To top it off, the sunset over the city of Austin, was breathtaking. So if you want a fun and scenic ride of Austin, go to Texas Trail rides. You won’t be disappointed.
