Horrible experience. Do not have your procedure here!!! I went in for a colonoscopy. I had 6 different nurses for each«stage». What the hell? You’d think I was getting a heart transplant. The nurse, Megan Davis, failed miserably at putting in my IV. She tried twice even though I told her what she was doing hurt like hell. This nurse should NOT be sticking needles in patients. Finally she gave up and sent in someone who knew what she was doing. Why do I have to be practice for your inexperienced staff!!! I was already not having the best day of my life — got to remember it with a huge bruise that took up the entire back side of my hand for a full week. Awful! My «procedure» nurses acted like I was a corpse. No explanation of what was going on, just pulling at my gown, slapping sensors on me, pushing me here and there, sticking tubes up my nose. WHAT?! What is wrong with these people??? Afterwards, my «recovery» nurse argued with me when I handed her a list of in-network labs where I should have my pathology sent. She told me, «I don’t think you can pick where we send it. We just send it where we need to.» WRONGLADY!!! I have every right to make sure I get an in-network lab and I’m handing you a damn list of them. Learn your shit people. AWFUL!!!

I will never use a surgery center again based on my experience at the ADC Surgery Center. I’ve been to St. David’s North which is right next to Austin Diagnostic Clinic and they were great. Not this place. The registration hassled me about my ride arrangements even though it was pre-approved and the notes were in her computer. The«holding area» for patients is not private. There are curtains instead of doors and you’re staring at the other patients and them at you the whole time because they won’t keep the curtains closed even after repeated requests. There is sugary, horrible pop music blasting the whole time. This is NOT a peaceful environment to prepare for surgery in. The music is supposedly to provide privacy since there are no doors, but I could clearly hear staff discussing patients out in the walk way between the holding rooms. The nurse looked at my hand and completely bailed on putting my IV in the proper place. She put it in the crook of my arm so there were constant problems with it flowing properly and was extremely uncomfortable. I asked her to help with the pain and she said«if I couldn’t bear it» she’d get someone else. Of course, being a woman, I didn’t want to «bother» them so I stayed in pain for my whole stay. Next time I will say«hell yes, get someone else!». I asked for a warm blanket as soon as I got there so I could warm up my arm so the IV could be placed easier but the nurse said she had to do other things first and then she’d get me one. When she finally got me the blanket was when she was ready to put in the IV which was TOODAMNLATE. Then I was left alone in the holding area with no call button and everyone running by too fast for me to get their attention. After my surgery I was returned to the holding area. The after care nurse was different than the prep nurse. She got me crackers and water but set them out of arm’s reach instead of on the tray that should have been by my bed. She was using the tray instead. I had to keep asking for another sip of water or another bite of cracker. I was booted out 20 minutes after surgery even though I did not feel ready yet. I had been concerned about this aspect of a surgery center and inquired about it before my stay and was assured they would not rush either the prep or my release. They bloody well rushed both. My surgeon was great and my anesthesiologist was great but those were the only bright spots of my experience. I will always use a hospital from now on.
