The bartender was very rude and several people left because of the way she treated customers. I will not return. If I could rate this a zero I would.

We were looking to get some Via 313 pizza while hanging with some friends in Circle C. Since the wait was hella-long our friends took us to their local dive bar: Detour. It was smaller than I expected but exactly what you’d want from a dive bar, you could pretend you weren’t in the middle of suburbia. I think the bartender that we had way pretty new as she had a difficult time making an Old Fashioned and a Manhattan. I think somehow they were out of 2 ingredients and didn’t even have cherries. Lucky we weren’t expecting much from the place and so they met expectations. I don’t think I’ll be back, but if you need some pizza and there is no room to wait at Via 313, get your order in and then grab a drink a couple doors down.

I LOVELOVELOVE this bar. I have lived in Austin for almost 5 years now and moved here from a small town North of Houston, called Conroe. This bar is home to me. It is not the normal hipster, college, fake ID, trying to be someone you aren’t bar. WHICH is a lot of what I see in the bars in Austin. The owner is GREAT and wants to only be known as just another person and not let anyone know who he is. Which is unusual because most bar owners want to shove who they are down your throat. My favorite favorite favorite bartender is Adrianna. I can literally not go in for a couple months(I have a 10 year old so I don’t get to go out much) and as soon as she sees me walk in she has my Bud light on the bar waiting. She is so super sweet and amazing. This bar is a complete down to earth love everyone and no judgement bar. I feel so at home here. Fun times and lots of memories!

Great neighborhood bar! There are no strangers here. If you don’t know anyone when you walk in you’ll know everyone when you walk out. Great for listening to music and playing pool. They are expanding soon and will have an outdoor patio.

I never had a desire to go to this place, but one night, I said you know what, it’s near home so why not, should be cheap… Well, it’s reasonably priced, I wouldn’t say super cheap. It’s definitely a townie /neighborhood bar where you can get a peek as to the DNA of the neighborhood… Mostly a blue collar type of spot where everyone knows each other for the most part. People are friendly there, I will give them that. However, the place seems to invite some undesirables… From women that seemed to be ummmm«working girls», to drunk fools talking about knocking people out, drunk dudes hitting on anything with a pulse, drunk guys who peaked in high school, vato loco type of people looking like they’re looking for their next mark and so on… The worst part is the regular female bartender who spent more time gossiping with the regulars, and having the bar back keep reminding her she needs to serve drinks, and in a matter of 20min took 4 smoke breaks… Yeah… No thanks. This place seemed like a really crappy jersey shore bar, and sadly I’ve been to a couple — I honestly don’t wanna see that nonsense in good ol Austin, my new home away from home… There’s a reason I fell in love with Austin, and this is definitely not it. I’m honestly in shock this place exists, it’s begging for a visit from John Taffer and the BARRESCUE crew. Do yourself a favor and stay away… Read all the negative reviews, and check out the YouTube videos on this place… No bueno man, nooooo bueno.

The place is small but clean and the patrons are friendly .The bartenders are super nice. Pool tournaments on Sundays, and sports on multiple TV ‘s all the time.

A great place to have the bartender STEALYOURCREDITCARD! When I opened a tab, I watched her walk away with my card and slip it into some guy’s pocket at the end of the bar. My boyfriend said I was being paranoid, and that she put it in their card file thing, and there was nothing to worry about. I sat there stupidly for a minute waiting to see if she would hand it back, and decided to put my wallet away and have a little faith. Lo and behold, when I close out my tab, my card has disappeared. The bartender insists it is their policy to hand cards back to guests, I must be crazy, that I need to double check my pockets. I politely let her know that I never received my card back and that I’ve checked everything, and she shrugs her shoulders and says sorry, it must be gone. At this point, I’m ready to slap a bitch, so my boyfriend takes over and mentions to her that after she swiped my card, I saw her put my card in dude’s pocket, and she screams ‘are you high?!?’ and becomes a little ridiculous. I am not in to making scenes, so I left, cancelled my card and hope to never be back. Dear blond, tatted up bartender, thank you for ruining my hopes of finding a fun neighborhood bar!

Sarah and I were checking out some places in our new ‘hood, and stumbled across The Detour. She had been to the one up north and loved it, so we gave it a go. The service was super friendly and we made some new friends while we were there. I’ll definitely be back!

Exactly what you should expect from a hole in the wall neighborhood bar! This is always our last stop on the way home. It’s dark lighting, dart board, and shitty Vegas carpet are why I actually like this bar(judgement free).

Ughhh… Bartenders are cute but are more worried about where there next fix is coming from then whether or not u get your drink. Always at least a few J/O’s who are in there 30’s who act like they are still in college. Owner is a sleaze ball who likes to oogle at all female patrons and makes sure that they know that he’s the“owner.” While Boomers caters to the«hillbilly» crowd, Detour holds it down for all the wanna be «gangsters» in the area. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 5 miles down to Ben White & Lamar/SoFi/Congress and go to a rule bar.

I live down street from this bar and came to check it out. Now I’m a regular. People are funny and crazy. Staff is some sexy women. Pool tables. Touchtunes. Karaōke. Love it all

A nice neighborhood bar. There aren’t many places that are just a good place to hang your hat and enjoy a cold brew, but Detour is one of them. Cold beer, friendly staff, clean surroundings(including the«facilities»). If you’re looking for something outside the corporate cookie cutter experience, this is the place to be! Open until 2 am with a variety of special events. Detour. Highly recommended.

Typical little hole in the wall bar! Not a big place — staff is very friendly! They also have karaōke night. Not sure what night but gotta love it– :)

Oh man what to say about Detour. Every time I’ve been here its always been a great time. It’s one of those neighbor gems where you could catch the game, play some giant jenga or shot some pool. It’s pretty small and the outdated décor is actually pretty eclectic. Tv are pretty outdated which is a downer but there is always plenty of parking and usually a pretty good crowd. Cheers!

Great Dive Bar close to the Y in Oak Hill. Go for happy hours, drinks get pricey late at night… not great for watching sports, I think one old Rear projection tv and a scattering of small HDs around the walls…

Great neighborhood bar! I had been wanting to stop by for a long time but didn’t ever do it. Now I’m sad I let so much time pass. Monday night Karaōke and everyone was very friendly, welcoming, and fun. Nothing fancy, nothing pretentious, go as you are.

I was brought here by a good friend on a Monday night, in much need of a drink after a tough weekend. We had a fantastic time, Laura(or Lauren?) ISTHESHIT. She knows how to host a bar and make everyone around her feel great. Awesome vibes, drinks were delicious, music was fun! I’ll see ya again Monday night. :D

No son-of-a-bitch hoity-toity appetizer menu, no bullshit karaōke machine, impossible to fine a skee-ball league in these confines. The Detour is just a BAR and a place you can stop by for a beer or two with some friends. I think what I love about this the simplicity of it. It’s not fancy nor pretentious and you’re not going to impress anyone here by how you dress or what watch you wear so leave you horse-shit attitude at the door. This place is cozy and personal and the attention given by the bartenders is friendly and fast. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this bar. P. S. don’t be surprised if while there you see the rare and elusive Kentucky waterfall mullet from time to time.

Believe it or not I like this place, the bartenders are extremely friendly if they haven’t had too much to drink, and then there really friendly. The price of drinks is reasonable, there is a bizarre and eclectic group of regulars so you never know what you’re going to get. Okay now for the bad stuff: the air-conditioning works most of the time, it’s kind of on the small side, and the bathrooms could probably use some work. So my recommendation would be if you don’t want to go down town and looking for someplace to get a cocktail on the southwest side you might give this place a try.

Get the ALLNEW Jägermeister Tap Machine! Perfect for serving up ice cold shots at 0°F to customers or friends, at your bar or entertaining at home! New compact design! Increased capacity! Easy to operate! Chills faster! If this appeals to you, then this is the place for you. Where else would you want to go if getting slammed on 0°F Jäger shots is not your goal? Detours sports one of these guys so you might want to mosie on over to this neighborhood bar in suburbia. This machine holds three bottles of Jäger, waiting to be dispensed into your thirsty pie hole. One of the great advantages of Detours is location. After drinking your fill, you can be on 290⁄71 in a New York second and on your way… at warp speed. What a blessing… I think this pretty much defines what Detours is… dark and cave like with a popcorn machine, one pool table, a pinball machine, a decent juke-box, and from some of my visits, really, really cold bottled beer. It’s a local place with an interesting blend of patrons. however I would imagine 100% of these jäger swilling folks are blotto when they leave. BTW… per Jagermiester webiste you can purchase the tap machine for your home… and I quote: «If you want to pull off the kind of party that is discussed in whispered tones of reverence for years afterward, the Jägermeister Tap Machine is the answer. Now you can serve the same ice cold shots of Jägermeister that you enjoy at your local bar or club at home. Take your party to the next level! The Jägermeister Tap Machine has quickly become a high demand item among professional party throwers and home bar owners who are looking for the next best gadget. Upgrade your home bar to include the latest innovation in ice-cold shot technology. Your parties will be legendary. The Tap Machine is not only the perfect addition to a great party, but it’s also the ideal gift for the Jägermeister fan. Christmas list got you stumped? Bachelor party themes all played out? The Jägermeister Tap Machine is the ultimate gift idea for the man who wants it all!» I mean, isn’t that what’s the freezer is for in your home?
