The Headliners Club

The first rule of Headliners club is not to talk about Headliners club. OK, I’ll dish.
This place is a cut above the rest. The décor has been masterfully designed with wood paneling, luxurious cabinets and award winning books and mementos. It starts out with wait staff who truly practice an art long forgotten providing ninja like service. You’re on the 24^th floor of the Chase building so every view is a GREAT view. The furniture is plush and comfy and if I had enough time I would have fallen into a peaceful slumber.
Food…oh boy you’re in for a treat and the weird thing is that you don’t want this to end anytime soon because you’ll be back in the real world soon enough.
Membership has it’s prividleges.

Salmon was exquisite. Cooked to perfection. Nice green bean and roll. Dessert was chocolate covered ice cream w pecans. Very good.

Great location for holiday parties! The Christmas parties here really put you in the spirit of the season. The evening downtown views of Austin are some of the best from the dining rooms because the windows wrap around the perimeter of the room.
Let’s not forget the food because we are distracted by the views. I have not provided any food pics because I wanted to savor the food with the views. It is quite an experience that should not be disturbed with picture taking. From steaks to fish to poultry to veggie dishes, all have been served to perfection. The staff has been very attentive at each of our visit.
I look forward to my visits here. Next time, I will get food pictures for us. Promise!

Its a nice enough place… I was on the 20^th floor Headliners club, which probably isn’t as big or nice as the 21^st Floor, but still nice. I work 1 building over on the 16^th floor facing the river with nearly the identical view, so it felt a little like I was eating in my office, taking away the mystique.
It had all the usual stuff an old money club would have… complete with obsequious/​submissive staff (not really my style, hence me quitting the country club and golfing and trading it in for hiking and biking), with good food and a nice view. A decent place if you like fancy digs, quality food, and an army of overly attentive people waiting on your every whim.

This is a great place. My company held a business meeting here. Everyone was very nice and I felt welcome. The food was amazing and I enjoyed the experience.

The premier downtown private club in Austin. Founded as the place where the people that write the headlines meet the people who make the headlines. Incredible views, great food, and great, great service. Membership by recommendation only.

Great views, comfortable atmosphere, good food — however, they occasionally put mayonnaise on sandwiches where it is not listed, and I’m a non fan of the mayo… anyway, be forewarned.

Back when I was in high school in an Oklahoma City suburb, some people’s parent’s belonged to an exclusive club on top of one of the office buildings downtown. The Petroleum Club was a treat if you were lucky enough to know someone who’s parent’s were members. It was the ultimate prom night dinner destination. So who knew that Austin had an equivalent to the swanky Petroleum Club?
One of my friend’s from college threw an all out bash at the Headliner’s Club last night and let me tell you, that, my friends, was a party.
Like Michelle said, this place feels like old money. From the time we walked in, to the time we left, we were all treated like royalty.
The space was decorated for Christmas with twinkly lights all over the club reflecting on the glass of the windows overlooking the lights of Austin below us. It was truly spectacular.
There was a bar with cocktails, beer, and wine. The food was catered by the club and outstanding (scallop and shrimp cakes!). There was a perfect space for a band, and a dance floor. Everyone danced, ate and drank. The dessert was individual tiramisu in martini glasses, an amazing chocolate cake, and some fruit thing. There were speeches and toasts and family and friends and it was just the bash to end all bashes in an amazing setting.
However, my friend and I aren’t going to be up for membership at the Headliner’s Club anytime soon. As observed by her husband when we set up shop on a bus table.
We thought we had found a nice, tall table to stand at but Skip walked up, saw us standing there, and said, «You two do realize this is for dirty dishes, and not a tall table, right?» To which my friend replied, «If you wanted elegance buddy, you married the wrong girl.» He had to call it the dirty dish table because if he’d said bus table, we would have replied with, «Nuh-​uh, there aren’t any busses on this table. Sheesh.»
At the end of the night, we had been over-​served and while Skip and I wanted to go out, Kelly smartly decided we needed to be put up. You can dress us up, but you can’t take us anywhere. Seriously. You can’t.

This private club is a throwback to days of yore, back when the slogan was, «Keep Austin Not-​So-​Weird.» It has a very old-​school feel, in part because most of the waitstaff is racially diverse, whereas most of the clientele is not-​so-​racially diverse. If you want to feel like «old money,» this is the place for you (personally, it makes me a bit uncomfortable to feel like «old money,» but I know some people dig that kind of thing). In this vein, the service is truly impeccable — unobtrusive, yet attentive. The Club offers a number of private dining areas of widely ranging sizes. The food is very good, the booze is generally free-​flowing, and the views of Austin are among the best in town.
According to the «House Rules» posted on their website, this is one of the few places (if not the only place) left in Austin where a jacket is required after 5 pm in the main dining areas and main lounge. If you’re going to a private party, though, they generously allow the host/​hostess to determine the dress code. Of course, the «House Rules» also specify that parking in the Chase Bank garage is a negotiated $ 1 for people attending events at the Headliners Club, but when I left, the attendant said it was $ 2.25 and the $ 1 rate was «years ago.» So, it’s possible the dress code has changed, as well.
