The Home Depot

I have long been a Home Depot fan but recently hit a bump in the road with a custom cabinet order. My original kitchen designer had moved on to another job and when my situation exploded, there was no one who could really help me figure it out until I found David (a manager) and he called in Laura (kitchen design) to help.
So — for kitchen design, do yourself a HUGE favor, prevent heartache, and ask for Laura. She knows her stuff and if I had had the luck of working with her from the beginning, I don’t think I would have encountered the problem (and month long delay) that I did.
And David, he is the epitome of excellent customer service. The first few people I had come across in asking for help seemed more concerned about «who is paying for this mistake» versus finding a solution. David found a solution first and then focused on the cost second. It turned out a $ 1700 problem ended up being only a minor $ 200 issue.

Let me just say, I’ve been in about once every other day for the last two to three weeks and I will never go anywhere else again!
I just bought a new house and did a remodel on it prior to moving in. So, floors were my first big challenge. JESSE in flooring was beyond phenomenal! He was knowledgeable, helpful, polite, and found me exactly what I needed. It ended up being like 3.5 pallets of tile, ha ha. He found them all within the same time frame so the colors matched well. He also followed up with me for delivery and to make sure everything was taken care of. On top of that, due to an idiot contractor (feel free to read the wonderful Texas Best General Contracting review I wrote) half of the tile couldn’t even be used! Jesse immediately stepped up, coordinated it getting returned, etc. There was no questions asked and they promptly refunded for the tile returned — BOOM!
Phew, now paint. I’m a pretty straight forward person so I had an idea of what I wanted as far as color goes. However, JAY helped me choose was type of finish I would need and took my gigantic order. I pre-​ordered and paid ahead of time and she had me just call the morning I needed to pick everything up (it was like $ 600 worth of paint, haha) so that it was freshly mixed and ready to go. Everything was perfect, not a single can was incorrect. — BOOM!
Now for the fun stuff — toilets! They didn’t carry the ones I wanted to ordered three toilets online. The cool thing is that SALLY in the customer service area coordinated the paint pick up, tile delivery, and was awesome enough to throw the toilets on that same delivery so that I didn’t have to pay extra. Too cool.
Anyway, what I’m saying is that everyone in every department I had to deal with were amazing. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and were not just trying to over charge me. They were genuinely amazing people and employees.

I’m in awe of the customer service here! Truly amazing! Derrick was such a big help when it came to the lumber department I couldn’t thank him enough he is great at his job! Now I can get to this project I been wanting to do thanks Derrick!

This will be my new «home» store since I moved. Prices are a bit more than the other home improvement stores. Employees don’t really help unless you ask. In the early morning all that is open is self checkout, which is ok unless you buy like bolts (without a barcode) or a large item. Anyway, i’ll be back for more stuff, as a new home owner lots of stuff needs fixin’

The only reason that I am giving this store a two star review is because the girl that is working (Stacie?) was just trying to do her job. If you are looking to rent a truck at this Home Depot it’s a nightmare. It would be easier to sneak out of Russia when it was the USSR as an undocumented immigrant than to rent here. I have been renting cars at various rental car establishments, but try to rent a truck at Home Depot and you practically have to sacrifice your first born before they hand you the keys! Overall poor experience that took up much more time and hassle than it needed to.

Came in to get purchase some plywood and get it cut. Very timely service and friendly.

This has been my second home since April. They never tell you in the mortgage paperwork that with your house purchase, you get the nearest Home Depot as your second home!
Usually we come here to buy little things that we have needed around the home, but lately I did two big purchases about things I have no clue about. The first was putting up gutters and the second was doing hardwood laminate for our first floor. Both times I walked in without a clue but the people here have helped me tremendously! Our gutter project is done and success, with only having to go back once to return extra parts. On this note, their exchange /​return policy is awesome. Theyve never given me any issues on having to return something and the service is always very quick. The garden center reps are also super knowledgeable about the soil type around here to help me with trees and my lawn. They also have very competitive pricing and sales. During 4^th of July sale i totally stocked up on charcoal for bbq for the year! We just got the items we need to do the flooring and that will be our project next month. We shall see how well it goes!

Haha one star because of customer service. Worst we’ve ever had at a Home Depot.
We went in to buy an interior door. My husband had never installed one and since I was there with him (haha) I said we should find someone to ask if we we’re doing it right. We walked around, couldn’t find anyone. Walked all the way back up to the front of the store, found a cashier and asked him to call for someone. He got a bit snarky (which was weird) and questioned that there really wasn’t anyone back there. Apologized to us for being snarky but he didn’t seem sincere to me. More like shut up and get out of my face lady.
We got all the way back to the aisle with doors and realized we never heard him call for anyone but maybe they don’t do it like that there?
So we waited a little longer but nobody showed up.
My husband finally took off in search of someone again while I stayed in the area looking for someone.
5 or 10 minutes later he still wasn’t back so I called the store. Haha. I told them we were back in doors and would they please send someone.
A few minutes later my husband finally showed back up with an employee in tow. Yay! He had found him on his own and I never did know if my phone call did anything because nobody else ever showed up.
However, the employee he found was a gold mine of info and since my husband doesn’t own a router, suggested using some attachment for his drill to make room for hinges.
We were happy in the end, replaced an interior door with the drill attachment, hinges & doorknob all for $ 70 and thanks to the employee and his wealth of knowledge, my husband had the job done in about half an hour.

Do not get your flooring done here! The salesmen and employees seem nice but they are dumb as bricks when it comes to placing orders. They ordered us the wrong product. We found the mistake, not them. Then they reordered the product in the wrong amount. When the workers came to install they couldn’t do anything and left, after I took the day off from work. Total incompetence.

Trip from hell to Home Depot Howard Ln. Boycott this store
We went this morning to get fence boards and after loading up 62 boards and going to the checkout, first my husband who is a Viet Nam era vet with a VA card got the 3^rd degree from the checker about if he was the right kind of vet or not. Finally she compared enough and determined he was and rang up up. She then refused to take our Chase INK card because we’d received a discount for military. We checked the receipt and on a $ 105 bill the 10% discount was 99cents. So back into the store to find out that fence board are not allowed under the military discount. By then we were complaining a lot and were sent all the way across the store to customer service with this obnoxious woman heckling us loudly enough to be heard 4 aisles away – «serves you right» says she with lots of laughter. We had the manager called and complained a good deal, got a refund and complained about the bad customer service we received. I am disgusted and appalled that a store that supposedly supports military and veterans would treat anyone so shabbily. If that woman was my employee she would have been terminated on the spot.
We went across the street to Lowes and the treatment could not have been more different. They did not harass us, they looked at his card and applied the military discount, they took our credit card as payment and they even had a man load the 62 boards into the car for us – something that we were not even offered at HD.

The customer service here is awesome! Rita is so helpful I was so impressed. Then when picking out tile the flooring the sales lady was so gracious! She was helping another couple pick flooring and I could not believe how thorough she was! We had just come from a high end design center and this lady was much more thorough and attentive than the lady who sold tile starting at $ 10 a square foot. We graciously waited our turn and couldn’t have been happier too ((sorry I forgot her name– nancy maybe) The guy in gardening with the name tag Babycakes is great too! All around great location for a new homeowner!

I stopped in here to have keys made for work after having gone somewhere else and the keys didnt work.
I had my keys made quickly and thankfully they all worked when I tried them in the door. From now on if I need keys made I will come here!

I stopped in to get some plastic toilet screws to prevent our toilet from swaying and swinging on one screw like it was swing dancing with reckless abandon while you tried to get your keister to stay put while doing your business.
My man card is small and my fear of all things automotive, home repair related usually makes me slightly afraid of these places. What if they don’t have one that fits? Non standard items annoy me and no one wants a toilet seat that sways while you squat.
No worries, found the screw and I’m smart enough to bring the broken one to make sure they’re the right size. I got one of those hair remover plastic sticks with barbs on it as well. I consider myself more manly for repairing that toilet. Thank you home despot for helping me achieve a new level of masculinity and home ownership.

Really do love this place!
The employees have always been super helpful and always willing to answer a question or if they don’t know they answer, they’re more than willing to find someone who does!
We’ve done a lot of work using PVC, a window unit, wood, and insulation and they have been super helpful. We’re not the most savy when it comes to DIY projects but they are very understanding and willing to help.
The biggest perk is being able to bring my dogs in! There are very few places that allow you to take your pups in when it doesn’t specialize in pet care but Home Depot is one of them. The only warning I’d give is if your pup is in any way leash aggressive with other dogs — don’t bring them in! my kiddos are great but there was a pit mix that wasn’t so much and began going crazy when it saw mine and the owner started slapping it, correction, hitting it in the face to try and get it to stop. Was a bit of a scene.
We are back every few months and will continue to do so as the need arises.

Why the 5-​star review? It’s not for Home Depot itself. It’s a Home Depot. You know what that’s like. This review is for ONE person:

She works the special order desk wedged in the cabinets section by the appliances. We did a remodel of kitchen and bath last year and lucked into this store and this person. She handled a ton of special orders for us, from bathtubs to countertops, and, and, and…
She was extremely knowledgeable, super friendly, and an absolute joy to work with. If you are considering anything from Home Depot that needs to be special ordered, make sure you go out of the way to THIS store and look for Mary.

The customer service here seams better than some of the other we go to… when I had a question about garden seeds, he had the answered and went further on to tell me about my choice of fertilizer. Fast and friendly check out… New plants come in next week…

I like this Home dept because it’s on my way home from work. Sure Brodie is a mess, but believe it or not around the 6pm hour there is no one here. Doesn’t matter if I’m there to return something or pick something up — I’m in and out in 5 minutes. Score.

Large store with easy access to I35. They have an ok plant selection. Its a bit limited. Lowes across the highway has a much larger selection and a discount section.

I started going again to Home Depot since they accept PayPal. They have quite improved. And it is convenient and safe to pay with PayPal.

There was a time where I would have felt out of place here, but since buying a house and deciding (foolishly) to take on renovations on my own, I’ve become quickly versed on the way of the tool. That didn’t sound right…
It seems HD has taken a new approach to customer service since Lowes has come onto the scene. Lowes always feels like a Home Depot for housewives. No offense to housewives. I mean that to say that Lowes seems to cater to the casual DIYer. Home Depot always seemed a little more hardcore. I remember going to HD and asking questions to the hardened contractor turned sales associate and feeling foolish as they look at me as if I had 3 arms. Now… they actively seek you out and are happy to field questions, no matter how stupid they may seem.
I enjoy coming here. I just wish I had the money to but all the crazy fun toys they sell here.
