I grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana and I know a Po-Boy. If you want to get rich making po-boys, you’d better get it right. These guys do. I actually visited the restaurant around midnight on a Saturday night. I was next door at Dozen Street(another excellent venue, but this isn’t the place). There was a jukebox, a friendly young man at the counter and the master chef in the back working his magic. I caught a few glimpses of him but didn’t get to ask about where he’s from, etc. Anyways, I got the food to go: fried catfish po-boy combo. Absolutely delicious. The french bread was on point, the catfish was fried on the spot and the fries were seasoned perfectly. My buddy had the blackened fish basket, and I was a bit jealous that I didn’t order it. I had to explain to him what«blackened» meant as a lot of places seem to fumble over this style of cooking. There was a bit of a wait on the meal, but it was 12…12:30? on a Saturday night. I took solace in knowing that my meal was being prepared to order and not sitting under a lamp. Great experience. I’ll be back and will probably bump this bad boy up to five stars if the next visit is as good as the first. Laissez les bon temps roulez!

I have to update my previous 5 here, not only have i searched for the cart multiple times but I’ve enjoyed many meals at your brick and mortar stores. I gotta tell ya, after driving to the east side on Chavez the other night I found a sign directing me to E 12th. I decided it was worth going for, so I did. And oh man. Yall should reallllly reconsider that location. G-h-e-t-t-o, but like, in a really scary way. I love your food but I won’t be coming back. No way, no day. I’ll cross my fingers you guys get your cart back out this summer. I’ll miss the special bond I shared with your delightful po’ boys

Well the service started out okay but when the food came put my plate was missing. About thirty minutes later my plate came out. There was a flimsy apology about it being late but the lack I service made it apparent that my particular server didn’t really care. The server even gave my friend a dirty glass of water after I told him a late cold plate was unacceptable. I rarely speak to a manager about negative service but after this experience I nor my friends will go back.

Really? Cross between a frat house basement and Tijuana. We left after 2 hours with no food and multiple trips to ask. BUT — we think we might have gotten our money back. Fingers crossed.

Very, Very New Orleans. I love the food there and it’s very New Orleans. I had all kinds of food there that is on the menu. Lot’s of locals go there. If you want something very New Orleans go there. The staff is very friendly.

This place is giving New Orleans a bad name. It was worse than a crunchy booger on your jacket. The glass of water was sooooo bad, you could see post Mardi Gras Bourbon Street filth floating on the top. I gave them three tries and it got worse each time. The Etoufe was too soupy and too red. Good luck with toilet, friends.

Best creole food and ponoys in town. This is the closest thing you will get to New Orleans in Austin!

Sweet people, cheap and delicious food. Live next door so I’ve been here frequently and have never had anything but wonderful food and fabulous service. Crawfish boils can’t be beat, and if you’re broke, the red beans and rice are delicious! I wish I didn’t know about the beignets…

Came in for some crawfish on Saturday and they where nasty soft reboiled crawfish I wouldn’t feed that to my cat. I order 6 lbs fortunately they give me 3 lbs first, couldn’t even eat them. With New Orleans in the title of this place I’m sure there are some Cajuns rolling in there graves. At least the beers where cold also the young lady behind the counter was very nice. Here’s a tip catfish parlor has some good fresh crawfish. The shells are hard red even after the first boil, nice size to. I got 6lbs and counted only one with a cracked shell from before the boil. Do yourself a favor go to cat parlor on 71.

The fried fish poboy is consistently awesome, and so are the fries. This is my go-to take out dinner before band practice. It’s a ton of tasty for under $ 10. This place is now in the contacts on my phone so I can call ahead for carryout.

First time to try! I got the large gumbo and two shrimp tacos to go. I was sharing, I swear! First, the woman helping me was the friendly, lovely kind of person that makes you happy you went in somewhere. She thanked me for coming in, thanked me for waiting, thanked me again when I was leaving. Offered me water while I was waiting. She felt very sweet and genuine. I really enjoyed my food, though it wasn’t what I expected. The gumbo was a chicken gumbo with little bits of sausage and no veggies. I was sad there was no okra, but what can you expect from the girl that spends her free time at the Sustainable Food Center. If you don’t like okra, you will love it! The broth was rich and flavorful and there was just enough rice to make it a delicious, filling meal. The shrimp tacos also surprised me. I expected blackened shrimp, but it was po-boy style, cornmeal battered fried shrimp. It was really good, I just shy away from fried food most of the time. The tortilla was good and there was a good portion of a white sauce(tartar? I didn’t pay enough attention, sorry) so the taco was neither dry nor soggy. I recommend the tacos, as well.

Lord love a duck because this place is mind-blowing! My partner in crime & I always order the half oyster/half shrimp po boy and we’re never disappointed. Humongous, full of flavor, and always leaves me wanting more. Personally, the price more than justifies what you get. The fries are a great accompaniment to their po boys as well. The owners are personable and it was nice to find out that they’re friends with my po boy-go to spot in S.A., the Big Easy Café.

A very good place to get a po-boy! I love po-boy’s mostly of the crawfish and shrimp variety and this was a damn good one. It matched the best that I have had in New Orleans. I pass by this stand every day to and from work and have always thought about stopping but honestly the trailer is not super inviting and it doesn’t to ever have a line. Yet another lesson about not judging a book by it’s cover. I hope this trailer makes it and I will have a new place to stop for lunch.

Ugh, UGH! I hardly ever give bad reviews, but this place was just awful. I got the sampler platter and each one I tried was worse than the other. Watery gumbo, bland red beans and rice, and as for the étouffée, well i just can’t find a word for it. Let’s just say I only took a few bites(because i was starving) and those bites didn’t stay with me long; Yeah, it made me ill. My guess is crawfish was rotten. The lady at the counter was nice enough, but I’m pretty sure she was intoxicated on something. Get your shiznot together people.

Soco trailer park. I never quite understood what made this area so great but walking through it feels almost like a department store. You see so many great eye catching things that you want to buy until you look at the price tag. The po-boy shop looked like it served the biggest portion so I opted for it, though i couldn’t help but wince at the $ 11 I spent on my combo. While I do appreciate they cook everything fresh on the spot, I don’t appreciate the fact four people after me got their orders before me, and I sat waiting around for 20 minutes while the rest of my pals had already finished their food. Kinda kills the mood. The redeeming part is the food… er sandwich. It better be good for the price and it sure is. One of the better po-boys I’ve actually ever had. The shrimp is crisp and seasoned well, fresh out of the fryer. Just enough mayo and veggies on a crisp roll. The fries on the other hand were disappointing. I assume they cooked them fresh too given the time I waited but they were still kinda limp and soggy, not crisp like I expected them. Had some cajun seasoning over it, but wasn’t well distributed; it concentrated in one area and left some completely bland. And oh yeah, the size of the fries with the combo was about the size a kid would get out of a Happy Meal from McDonalds… yeah… If I was in the neighborhood and not wanting a po-boy, I’d explore around a bit more…

Ordered half a pint of gumbo– worst gumbo ever. It was thin and waaaay too watered down. No flavor at all. The only flavor was from the sausage. I know the rice isn’t supposed to be super moist or soft, but I’m not supposed to be eating peanuts here. It hard to chew and swallow. Never coming back again.

Best seafood I’ve had in Austin! Their fish, shrimp, and oyster plate keeps me stopping by every week. The workers there are also super friendly. It may be a little expensive, but it’s DEFINITELY worth it!

Maybe they were having a bad day, but about ten minutes after ordering I noticed that we were surrounded by angry, unhappy customers. Why? We eventually found out after waiting 45 minutes for what turned out to be very mediocre po-boys. During that time, an entire party simply left despite having paid already. I don’t know how long they had been there. And the table next to us complained that they couldn’t believe they had waited that long for such a plain po-boy. To which I have to agree. I get that food trucks will never be the most efficient, most bang-for-your-buck, most refined places to eat, but I expect some sort of originality, something memorable, and this place has none of that.

There is nothing like being there. But if you can’t dive the 8hrs it takes to get to NOLA then this is a good choice for Louisiana Poboys and Gumbo. Gumbo in Louisiana is like Chili or B-B-Q in Texas – everyone has their own recipe and everyone is different. But, here is a very very basic Louisiana food lesson. There is Cajun and Creole Gumbo(and food). This is Cajun Gumbo(Little thiner, No Okra, No Tomatoes) and basic Chicken and Sausage… And it was good. Flavored evenly, but I hope they have more varieties available in season for seafood. PoBoys were great. Judging by the napkin count on my husbands roast beef it was amazing. He talked about it for days. So if you want to know what NOLA food is like, go to NOLA. BUT if you miss NOLA and want a taste of the place you miss go to The Original.
