Tierra Linda Tacos

Alright cool little taco place in central Austin. As stated it’s inside of a rather clean gas station. When you enter bang a right at the register and head straight back.
The folks running the place are very nice. The open kitchen concept is a beautiful thing. I mean seeing your food prepared won’t stop it from tasting bad or you being sick. I believe it adds an element that alerts our senses and makes it more appealing.
After reading reviews on Unilocal I figured why not. I zipped on over on 12.10.15. No one was in line so I got special attention. I got 3 tacos for the road. Migas, bacon egg cheese, and sausage potatoes.
The migas was underwhelming to me. I’m a fan of a good migas taco and this wasn’t it. I couldn’t finish that one. My other two were good though and I enjoyed them. The bacon was cooked not to crisp or soggy. The sausage wya decent taste and not greasy. The eggs were fresh and boy what a good flavor combo it all made.
I would go back just not for the migas. Good staff and service given.

Have had a couple of tortas and a breakfast burrito here — all were excellent, quickly served and very inexpensive.

These are your standard ingredients breakfast Tacos nothing off the wall like Torchy’s… with that being said they are not standard in quality, quantity, and taste! They are top of the mark breakfast tacos and you know we love our tacos here in Austin! You won’t be disappointed and they do take phone orders which is good to keep in mind as line can form.

A few weeks ago I had the STRONGEST taco craving EVER. I wanted to try Mary’s Tacos, but it was closed. So I thought of Taco More, but they don’t have diet Dr. Pepper and I REALLY wanted a Diet Dr. Pepper with my tacos. So I headed for Tierra Linda.
It’s located inside of a Shell station. The gas station in itself is impressive enough, I may do a separate review. Full on meat market, extensive collection of aloe drinks, rare Hispanic treats… pretty awesome.
I took a right from the entrance and made my way to Tierra Linda. A few ladies stood behind the counter, preparing food. The first thing I saw was a girl making fresh tortillas. Score. The menu boasted all of the Mexican standards, and some different stuff like bacon wrapped jalapenos and hot dogs. Obviously, being a weekend and noon, I needed breakfast. I ordered an egg and bean taco and egg, potato and cheese taco. To my pleasure, they did state breakfast is served all damn day, every day. I had my choice of corn or flour tortilla, which I left up to the cashier.
After placing my order, I walked around for a few minutes, grabbed one of my favorite local bottled coffees (GREAT local selection, by the way) along with my Diet Dr. Pepper and then picked up my order. I had my choice of spicy salsa or not spicy. Obviously, I chose spicy. You do pay at the restaurant rather than the convenient store, so I paid, then paid again, then went home to eat.
My order was wrong. I received a bean and cheese taco and an egg and bean taco. I was really kind of pissed, because I REALLY wanted mass eggs this morning. My anger was just so quickly abated. Both homemade flour tortillas, perfection. The egg and bean was alright– the beans were wonderful, but the egg had no seasoning WHATSOEVER. The bean and cheese, which I didn’t even want, was OMG DELICIOUS I LOVE YOU. As I said, their beans are great, and with the PERFECTLY melted, generous cheese on that amazing flour tortilla? YEEAAH.
Sound good? I haven’t even gotten to the best part. The salsa. Man. this stuff was good. Exactly to my taste– spicy, liquidy, and with a KICK. Very similar to the spicy Taco More salsa. Not better or worse, but use it for reference. Delicious.
Less than $ 2 a taco. Great deal. Amazing flavor. In disclosure, I do think there was meat stock in the salsa. Probably in the beans and tortillas, too, since this place seems pretty legit. Still– this shit was GOOD. Being located in a crazy cool convenient store, this place could be a go-​to.

Best breakfast tacos in the city, hands down. Why? They are 100% made to order — they crack the eggs right there. You often have to wait a long time (~15 min) to get a single taco, but if you’re not in a rush, it’s worth the wait. The trade off — they are under $ 2.

When I needed something quick, healthy and fast (and within a half of a mile from me– time crunch), I stumbled across Tierra Linda on Unilocal.For a bit over 3 bucks I had two delicious breakfast tacos. Egg/​Potato and Bean and Cheese. Took 5 minutes. The salsa they give you is very similiar to the stuff I love at Taco Deli (and this is half the price.) Totally hit the spot.

This place is a cure for the $ 5 gourmet taco blues that is overtaking Austin (of course I do enjoy the cauliflower & beet taco at Fork & Taco too) Good food, I like getting to eat at the counter and watching my tacos get made. Fed our family of 4 for $ 18. A platter w/​2 tacos, rice, beans is $ 4.99! Conveniently located in a convenience store that has a surprising produce selection and a meat market.

Breakfast Tacos served all day. Tortillas are solid. Tacos: $ 1.80, burritos:$ 3.19 big, heavy, filling burritos.
Potato egg and cheese burrito:
Savory. Potatoes spiced up on their own. Yes, just american shredded cheese, but that’s okay.
Beef fajita egg and cheese burrito:
Ev fresh. Chunky, loosely scrambled eggs. Was asked if we’d like the fajita pepper/​onion added to the burrito as well. Nice to have the option.
One of us loves the smokey red salsa, one of us loves the green (kinda creamy, just a little kick).
Love the customer service. Huge smile from the motherly looking lady cook and the guy who took our to-​go order was nice and read the order back to us too. Love the quality ingredients. Made fast after we ordered.
Love this is a real Mexican one stop shop inside a gas station that features a money transfer booth, cell service center, a butcher/​cheese shop (pick up your weeks supply of cotija and Oaxaca cheese to make your burritos at home!) Mexican cookies and factory goodies you might be missing from da home land.
Good, small business owners worth supporting.

Pro tip: get a carne asada burrito with just meat, pico and avocado and enjoy the best AZ/​Cali style carne asada burrito in the city. Now they just need some aguas frescas to fully scratch the itch.

I’m leaving this review simply because the service has been awful the last few times my boyfriend and myself have gone in. The girls/​cooks are incredibly rude and seem disgusted with their jobs and us whenever we go in. They act like you are scum and don’t acknowledge or assist you. My boyfriend and myself have experienced this on several occasions (together and seperate) and thought it would change but it hasn’t, so now we are refusing to give them our business.

THE best breakfast tacos in Austin, TX – hands down. The chorizo is so fresh and surprisingly NOT greasy! The staff is super sweet too. Don’t forget to ask for their spicy red sauce :)

Holy crap these tacos are SO GOOD!!! And cheap, too! Sweet folks behind the counter, too. That’s a major plus.

Older lady at register was very rude, she acted like she couldn’t hear me, so I repeated order in Spanish, to which she acted annoyed and repeated my order back to me in English. This was very odd but whatever. Cook on the other hand saw how the lady was being rude so he took over and was very friendly. Breakfast tacos were ok nothing to get all crazy about. I decided to give this place a try after reading all the reviews but I will Not be back!

Perfect food a quick lunch with my kid, while a buy I tire repair kit. The lengua taco was spot on. Meet your neighbors, spread your wings, eat at a place that will support a local family and support your thin wallet and big appetite.

Awesome authentic food! Discovered this place on my lunch break the other day and will definitely be back. I had the chicken flauta plate with rice and beans. It came out loaded with avacado, cheese and drizzled with sour cream. It was sooo good. My boyfriend had the fajita beef taco and he raved about it as well.
This place is tucked away inside the gas station and easy to miss!

I fell in love at first sniff. The Al Pastor taco on fresh hand made corn tortilla with fresh cilantro and onion was a definite treat! The egg/​potato and bean/​potato tacos were pretty darn tasty as well! The husband gave the jalapeño relleno two enthusiastic thumbs up!
Who knew such a gem was hiding in a gas station on Research? So happy we found it!
By the way, the salsa is delicious. The only thing I would change is I wish there was a medium salsa offering. The hot is fabulous and delivers a proper burn but doesn’t over power the flavor and the mild is a green tomatillo like salsa that is pretty heat free.

I just tried Tierra Linda Tacos a few hours ago, and was pleasantly surprised. It’s not every day that you eat tacos from a gas station and go «Dayyam, I’d do that again in a heartbeat!»
I ordered 3 tacos — the chicken fajita, carne asada, and the al pastor. My favorite was the al pastor — very flavorful and tender. My least favorite was the carne asada — a little tough compared to some other places I’ve been. The chicken fajita one was pretty good — I’d get it again.
The guy and girl behind the counter were super nice and helpful — great customer service. They even gave me limes and salsas when I forgot to ask about them. (The salsas/​hot sauces were great — I loved the hot one and the habanero one… Mmmm!)
They came on fresh tortillas, and were made right in front of me, piping hot. I’ll definitely eat here again, and can’t wait to try their breakfast tacos. Great place, guys!
