We’re reviewing UYEs now? Awesome! Well, I almost didn’t go. IT was a grey, blah afternoon, and the distance to sixth street seems directly proportional to the number of years it’s been since your 25th birthday. But B.D. Riley’s should be immune to any aversion your older and wiser self may have to that infamous street we all love to hate. It’s a good place to sit and talk with friends old and new, and that’s just what we did. I showed up a little late, so didn’t get to talk to everybody. But I had a good time getting to know Steve B and Phillip B a little better. Great beer prices, lotsa football on lotsa screens, and overall a great change of pace from the typical downtown madness. Thanks, Phillip, for organizing!

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Austin, TX
After being out of Austin all summer I got the itch to host a UYE. I wanted something in the heart of downtown that would accommodate a rotating attendance, food, drinks, and, good conversation. BD’S was the only place fitting for such an occasion. After about 10 emails between Steve B. and I, the date was set. Being the time of year it is, I really didn’t know how the turn out would be. All of the elements for a perfect event came together on their own. The weather was nice and crisp. The shepherd’s pie was delish. The conversations were pleasant. Laughter was abundant with Steve B’s adultery story taking the cake! Atmosphere was warm and laid back, and, drinks were a plenty. As I write this I’m thinking that this event ranks up there with the best of the best. It was small and intimate which allowed for us to really enjoy each other in conversation. It was nice to actually get to know Unilocalers(should there be an apostrophe in that word?) on a more personal level. Thanks to those of you that showed up. I enjoyed your company immensely. Special thanks to Steve B. and the crew at B.D.‘s Y’all rock! I think I’m gonna make this an annual event.
