Not bad the beer was good and the patio. So I guess that makes any place a little better. The jalapeño poppers are good if your coming here to eat.

Waterloo seems to be sliding. I use to frequent the 6th and Lamar location. I really enjoyed it, the staff was always cool, food was decent and atmosphere was strong. The southpark meadows location has gotten a little bit worse each time I go. The food is either average or bad, the wait staff is mediocre at best. Its kind of hit or miss but even if it hits… its just ok

We came down here for happy hour after volunteering for Capital Area Food Bank. It appears to be a great place for some food and drinks. My Margarita was yummy and cold and the queso blanco was super good. I really loved it. Nothing wrong with three stars, folks.

Well, we really weren’t expecting much of this place but it still managed to dissapoint us. We were super hungry and in the area… 1. The table we sat at was dirty(our napkins and fingers stuck to it). So we asked someone to wipe it. A guy wiped it with a totally dry cloth. It stayed sticky. 2. The restrooms were generally«gross» 3. We ordered chicken nachos. The waitress looked at me like I was speaking another language. So, I pointed to chicken nachos on the menu. I guess she was new. We received a plate with about 400 chips and what I would describe as a dab of toppings. The tab of toppings was of course all in the center and the shredded cheese wasn’t melted, maybe even still a little cool from the fridge. We had to sort the chips and assemble each«nacho» with our fingers. Tasted like standard cheap nachos. We were actually still hungry but didn’t want to order anything else. So, I don’t really think there is any good reason to go to this place.

We used to frequent this location often when we still liven in Austin and since I was in town I wanted to dine in again. It was early afternoon on a Sunday. There was no wait when I arrived plenty of seating was available in and out. The hostess even informed me she would have sat us at a particular booth, but a server was rolling silverware in it. The hostess took our drink order and came back with our drinks. It was some time before our server came to greet us and take our order, but she was friendly. Between the two of us, we ordered chicken tenders and a breakfast sandwich. Forty minutes later we still had no food and no update from our server. I went to ask if the kitchen was behind and told yes that everyone came at the same time, which I thought odd, since there was no wait upon arriving. He asked what we ordered, I told him and he said he’d check on it. A couple minutes later he brought our food, but it was missing an item. When our server finally came by to check on us, I told her and she promptly returned with the missing food. The food was great, but the service was more awful than I remember, especially since there were empty tables, if a server could take up one to roll silverware, so they weren’t swamped.

Well after eating at the Waterloo icehouse today I let my 3 year old play in the playground and after I finished paying I went to go sit at the bench to watch her. She runs into the patio looking for me and I am walking in my heels towards her. Before I know it one of the waitress has her in her arms. I am running over at this point in my heels to get her and I grab her in my arms to calm my baby down. Well rudely a gentleman(employee of Waterloo) around his 20s Hispanic in a red shirt yells at me in front of everyone«take care of your kid». I was very embarrassed and disappointed, I was not expecting that kind of customer service, I was rudely insulted. I’m never going back again, I can not even sleep over his comment. Thumbs down!

Wow, I got a quick canned response address to someone else. I replied and got no other reply. Still good service just don’t go there hungry with expectations.

The service wasn’t bad. The food just kind of sucks. But it is only place in south Austin that you do not have to wait for a table during brunch/breakfast time. But now I know why.

Pretty horrible for my first time here. Food is over priced and the staff is very rude and sarcastic. Never coming here again.

Zach was a horrible manager. The customer service sucks. Not only does the food really come out of the freezer and is all pre made, but it’s so bland you’ll never want to eat here again. Think before you waste your money eating here. South Park meadows has way better options than this place.

Came here recently with family from out of state and was HIGHLYDISSAPOINTED. They have added a children’s basketball game stand in the main dining room. It happened to be right next to our table and was awful, balls were flying off the windows-at one point the game actually collapsed onto the kids, yet management didn’t seem to be concerned ATALL with the fact that it’s not only extremely uncomfortable for guests to have balls bouncing off the back of their chairs, it’s also not safe. I understand that it’s supposed to be a family friendly environment but our experience was extremely chaotic. Also the restaurant, minus the kids, seemed to be pretty dead yet after 45minutes of waiting our food came out cold and sporadically. At least our server was nice, and apologetic.

Came for breakfast 4÷4÷15. Dirty silverware, sausage was cooked to hockey pucks. Talked to a manager he was apologetic, after he walked away we started eating. There was a hair on my plate! Needless to say we were done. Got up and walked out. Will never go to this location again. Would give no stars. But thats not an option.

Their food tastes like it came out of the freezer. I don’t think I’d ever eat here ever again. That is saying a lot because we got some pretty basic bar food, chicken tenders and some other fried apps. Big disappointment. They do have a lot of TVs, so if I was in the mood to go grab a beer and catch a game I might give it another try. Their staff was pretty good when we went. That was probably one of the upsides of this place, since service is pretty crappy at most of the places in the South Park meadows area. Meh, pretty much sums up my review this place.

The only reason I am giving two stars is due to the fact that I felt bad for our server. She was great when she had the opportunity to stop by our table. Thirty minutes to get queso… what?!? We sat outside because it was nice, but they raised the one barrier that was keeping wind from blowing trash all over the place and it caused the temp to drop about 10 degrees. Two or three tables moved because they did this. Another 45 minutes our food arrives. I really think this boils down to poor scheduling on the managers part. When it’s lunchtime you should have adequate staff to service your restaurant. The only reason I go to a restaurant is to get service. If I wanted to eat a burger at home I could do that. This place used to be decent. I won’t go back at this point to be honest.

I rarely leave 2 star reviews but I was not impressed. The service was fine, but what disgusted me was that when our waiter arrived his fingernails were filthy. Underneath them he had what appeared to be dirt and grime. It was unappetizing to say the least. This may seem nit picky to some people but I believe when a person works in the food service industry(I did for many years) that personal hygiene should be a top priority when handling food and beverages for customers. We both noticed it and it threw us off. Back to the food and environment. We sat outside, there were heaters, so that was nice. We ordered catfish tacos, which I was Informed were pretty good, and a burger and fries. I felt that What a Burger would have been better. It wasn’t awful, just nothing outstanding. The fries were soggy, a mixed batch of new and old. Overall, I would come back to drink at night but not to eat. Hope this helps!

Decided to give this place a try despite the negative comments. Seems that the comments are deserved. First impression upon walking in was not great. There was no one at the host stand. We stood there a good 3 minutes before being greeted. Not even a hello. Just, «Three? Come this way» Started off with some drinks. I ordered a moscow mule and my boyfriend ordered a «Mad Hatter». Now young drinkers may enjoy the generous heavy handed pours but our drinks basically were straight booze and a little ice. The next drink I ordered was a draft beer, a Guiness, but alas they were out. So I got an Angry Orchard instead. I mean its hard to go wrong on a draft beer, right? We decided to go with the queso blanco to start. Having a child with us limits appetizer options, but its a definite mainstay. Chips were definitely stale and out of a bag, the queso was tasteless and runny. Then I ordered the patty melt with sweet potato waffle fries. The patty was not cooked medium and it was tasteless too. Dry and overly chewy I just smiled and washed it down with my drink. The waffle fries were not hot or fresh either. I asked for the garlic aioli and it was just mayo with garlic in it. Boyfriend ordered the chicken fried steak which was soggy and drenched with gravy. Needless to say he didn’t finish his plate which is rare for him. With the bad food and drinks I do have to say that the waitress was very sweet and they had a man doing balloon animals for the kids. Our son loved that. If you want boozy drinks and sub par food then enjoy. I will not be coming back though. The lack of welcoming and not even a thank you when we left sealed the deal.

Solid three stars for this rather generic, yet endearing eatery. I’ve disliked almost all my bar drinks I’ve ever ordered here, had the worst margarita in my life on their patio, and generally been disappointed when ordering anything besides beer or wine. However. This is a perfect spot for those with kids who are old enough to run off to the nearby playground while you sit and enjoy yourself on the patio. I’ve always had friendly service. I’ve always seen a manager present and interested in your experience and I’ve always had decent food here. In fact, my last dinner here I tried their bbq pulled pork sandwich and really enjoyed it. Once I was situated under an umbrella on the patio, with a glass of wine in my hand instead of a margarita, with a view of my happy kiddo on the playground, I had a pretty pleasant evening. They have a nice happy hour from 4 – 7 pm on Monday through Friday, so that’s a nice perk, and their prices are reasonable to begin with. Those without kids may be a little tentative on the patio as there will almost always be munchkins around. And their patio is dog friendly — which actually lent to my disliking last time as I more than once got huge tufts of dog hair floating into my food, mouth and drink from the puppy play date that was happening next to me. I moved and the problem was solved, but, yes, this patio is dog friendly and on a given day, you may be eating next to six fluffy pups. I love their stuffed jalapenos from the appetizer menu, and I particularly have enjoyed their salad selections. You can have a pretty satisfying meal just based on that salad menu. Grilled Chicken Taco Salad, man. That’s good. Their burger selections cover all the basics, with a classic, a bleu, a bbq, a veggie, etc. and I like their natural cut fries. I’ll chalk this one up to: Convenient to the Southies, Breeders Welcome, and Decent Bar Food, Beer Drinkers Be Pleased.

My friends and I went in for a few drinks while I was waiting for my car to be finished at Sam’s. I didn’t plan on ordering any food, but ended up with a bowl of chili because it was 32 degrees outside and it sounded perfect. The chili was good, but it had a lot of cheese and long stringy onions! I like a bit on top, but it was a little overwhelming to the flavor. The drink specials said«Shiner Drafts 2.50» so I asked what they had on draft, and ordered a Shiner Holiday Cheer. I do love this beer so I was happy it was on the specials list! Unfortunately, the manager disagreed that this shiner draft counted since it was seasonal. The server told me that the menu really means only Shiner Bock. It wasn’t that much more, but they should change their menu since that is not what it says. Waterloo is a fine place to grab a drink and watch some sports on their big TVs.
