My husband brought me here for a nice picnic. We were able to find a table without any issues. This is a school park so there wasn’t much in the way of stuff for the kids to play on but that didn’t affect us during this visit.

I brought my lunch here to eat because I had some time to kill. It is a decent little neighborhood park. Leaves a lot to be desired. I wasn’t really sure it was a park. I thought it was part of a school. It would probably be a decent occasional park, but I’m sure the kids will want something more exciting every now and then.

Nice little local park. Nothing fancy. The ice cream cart guy comes through most nice evenings, which is great, and parents and kids are generally respectful. It’s usually pretty low-key. Unfortunately, the city banned«team sports» which doesn’t seem like the sort of thing a progressive, health-minded city ought to do. It’s not like huge soccer tournaments were taking place every week. I know they want to protect the grass, but because nobody uses the fields now, they are overgrown with weeds. Bonus: you can see the train go by from the park, which my kid likes. Wish list: they could use a couple more«kiddie» swings.

I run by here at least twice a week, and I come fly kites here once in a while. Its an OK little park, but some times they don’t come mow it for a month or so and the weeds/grass will get up to your knees. I keep thinking of getting some model rockets and going out there to launch them, but I am not sure about the fire regulations there.

Funny story: I never knew this was wooten park. I just always thought it was a random block of grass. My friend and I were going walking and she said«well, lets check out Wooten Park.» So we circled and circled and eventually figured out that this random patch of grass was indeed, Wooten Park. There’s kind of a weird trail that starts in the middle of nowhere and ends there as well. The basketball court is typically full of the saggy pants teen club and there are families here with 14 kids under the age of 5 with no shoes on. It’s often overgrown and the playground isn’t very inspiring. I’d expect a sad little park like this somewhere in the middle of NYC — not Austin.
