Peanut butter ice cream, one scoop with whipped cream and a cherry on a chocolate sprinkle waffle cone. Delicious even though it was about 45 degrees outside. Cash only which is inconvenient. Staff not overly welcoming either. But the ice cream and cone was good.

The most charming ice cream shop! Great flavors and waffle cones! Ice cream and the ocean view, what else do you need!

This is the closest I’ve been to heaven. As an ice cream lover, I can truly say that this place has remained in my top three and will remain there forever. The lines do get long but the olafs are amazing. The ice cream is delicious and one Olaf is enough for about two people to share. Leaving the island, the olafs here were definitely a bittersweet feeling when going home. Wish they had one of these places back home :(

The ice cream here was fine, mainly because it is literally the exact same ice cream you buy in the store(Dryer’s) for much, much more money. Don’t expect to leave without paying at least $ 5. The real problem, though, is that it is NOT sanitary. No one was wearing any kind of gloves or anything and when I paid, the woman dropped my(very dirty) quarter into the strawberry ice cream, said ‘oops,’ and then went on to serve the next customer. Perhaps she should have shut the ice cream cover between serving people? That might have also helped keep the flies out…

This place accepts CASH only. No debit or credit card will be accepted. If you like dreyers than you will like this place.

I was very disappointed with our service at this location. Save yourself the trouble and get ice cream from the other locations within walking distance(the confectionary down the street serves the same brand). To sum it up, the staff working were not wearing gloves, they touched the cones without any wrappers/napkins, rushed us and rolled their eyes when we asked a question. Only reason I’m giving this a star is because the ice cream is Dreyer’s which is good and hard to mess up.

I wish they made their own ice cream but they use Dryer’s ice cream. The ice cream was yummy and I enjoyed my experience. I really liked my chocolate(because I like Dryer’s ice cream normally) and my fiancé liked his vanilla. We will definitely come back!

Long line, someone said it’s the best ice cream on the island. It’s basically Dryer’s ice cream in a variety of flavors(not quite 31). Is it like saying a particular AM/PM is the best because it had the best Coca-Cola? I got in line with the island crowd and bought two generic cones… When I got back to the beach, the wife asked why I didn’t go across the street you where she bought an ice cream… It was hot, a vacation day and my son wanted Olaf’s. He saw it earlier and thought it was special. Olaf’s doesn’t come close to the quality and taste of Ice Cream Lab in DTLA Little Tokyo.

Basically it’s a Dreyers shop with waffle cones. It’s right in the center of the action, it’s priced right. We always get the Big Olaf even though we can’t always finish it.

Not too sure what the hype is here at Olaf’s, but I decided to wait in the looooong line to see what it was all about. I wasn’t impressed. If you’re from the mainland, it’s just like any other ice cream parlor. Maybe the location makes it popular, but I don’t see why the line is constantly going out the door. It wasn’t awful, just your typical ice cream shop. I had the butter pecan ice cream with a waffle cone. The waffle cones smell way better than they taste(and they smell amazing when they are freshly baked!).

Come here for the various Olaf’s combos with the home made waffle cones. The waffle cones are really tasty. Otherwise, if you’re looking for just plain ice cream, it’s Dreyer’s. Nothing fancy.

This place is super busy from the time that they open until the time that they close! I remember seeing a line this afternoon that was coming out the door and another line a short time ago as I was picking up dinner at a local restaurant. There are only a couple of places to get ice cream cones on the island but this place is by far the best! They feature multiple flavors of Dreyer’s ice cream and will serve it to you in a regular size cone or in a waffle cone which they make on site. You can have one scoop, two scoops, or even three scoops. Plus, they have different toppings to choose from. When you go, MAKESURETOBRINGCASHWITHYOU! They don’t accept credit or debit cards. There is a US Bank across the street where you can get cash if you need it. What better to enjoy on a hot day that an ice cream cone!

Home made waffle cones and lots of ice cream flavors? Yes. Yes please. Cash only can be inconvenient, but at $ 5 a cone, it’s fair. I loved my huge scoop birthday cake ice cream, and even though it wasn’t very warm there is always a good reason to have ice cream!

How could you not miss the huge waffle shaped ice cream outside of Big Olaf’s? The smell of fresh waffles lures you into the store. As you peek in, there are tons of dryer’s ice cream to choose from. My cousins each got scoops, but I went in for the Olaf — essentially scoop of ice cream into a waffle with whipped cream and a cherry on top. yum and perfect for summer !

I came here at the recommendation of my friends even though I was not hungry. I will say the ice cream, waffle cone, and other toppings were delicious! It is definitely over-priced. And we had a weird experience because the guy in front of me in line was asking weird questions to the lady working, like did she touch the banana from the banana split with her hands. Even though the customer was weird, the lady working was being rude back to him. It made for a distracting and odd experience.

Had a chocolate chip waffle cone from here. The rich creamy vanilla ice cream tasted delicious with nice chocolate pieces. They speak Spanish as well. A big variety of ice cream to choose from. One door to walk in and another door to walk out, so make sure to read the door signs. For under $ 5 you get a large scoop. Bring cash, they don’t accept credit /debit cards.

Like everyone else have said, nothing about the ice cream is special– it’s just dreyers, except priced as if it’s gourmet. Location is very convenient but the long lines are not. More importantly, however, i have MAJORSANITARY/HEALTH CONCERNS. There was only one person manning the store when I went so she was taking payments and serving the ice cream by herself. i understand she was trying to be as fast as she can because, as usual, people were lined up for the mediocre ice cream. My issue is that she puts her hands all over the cones right after she handles money!!! There’s supposed to be paper around the cones but whenever they came off loose, she did not hesitate holding it way past where the paper covered. I watched her do this for everyone that ordered Ice cream with the waffle cone.(In case some of you are not aware, money is ridiculously DIRTY– think about it, homeless people use the same money.) DISGUSTING. I wanted to leave the line in protest but was really craving ice cream lol, so I ordered my ice cream in a cup!

This icecream shop seems to be an island favorite. They carry Dreyer’s icecream so nothing special, but they do make their own waffle cones. My bf and I got the waffle cone which came with two scoops. Maybe I’m used to stingy icecream shops but man those two scoops were HUGE even for the two of us! Extensive selection of icecream flavors but was disappointed when I saw it was grocery store icecream.

Big Olaf’s Ice Cream is pretty much a must-stop when I am on Catalina Island. You can smell their homemade waffle cones a block away, and once I smell that delicious smell, I have to have it. Big Olaf’s is rather small, and and there is almost always a line of customers. The employees that work there get the job done quickly, and have never been rude to me, no complaints there. Dryer’s ice cream is served up here, which is nothing exceptional but they do have a good selection of flavors. For about $ 5 you can get a waffle cone sundae, pricey but everything on the island is.

Long lines for Dreyers ice cream?! I do not get it! I went early in the day when the lines were not long. I didn’t find anything more spectacular then the others. All of the ice cream parlors in this little area served Dreyers. Is it the name of of the establishment because of the snowman in Frozen is named«Olaf». They did have giant waffle cone but to wait 30 – 40 min in the screeching sun I opted to go to another establishment later on during the day
