This is an adorable coffee shop off the beaten path, so a place worth checking out if you want to escape from the busier tourist streets in the heart of town. The barista who helped us was so kind and really cared about us having a great experience while at El Encanto. They offer a great carrot cake for the bargain price of $ 3.25 and have a good selection of iced drinks… coffee, tea and even fresh fruit smoothies. Since this is backed up on, well, a courtyard, there is some great outdoor seating with dappled lighting, so a nice break from the southern California heat. Just thinking about my visit to this coffee shop makes me miss the lazy days on Catalina Island…

Definitely the best inn Avalon. Perfectly made cappuccino. Great outdoor seating in the courtyard with plenty of shade to enjoy reading the morning paper and people watching. One of the folks we saw was Ted Cassidy(played Lurch in the Addams Family TV show) who is apparently a regular patron at this wonderful little spot.

LEGIT. We were craving some good coffee, and this place did not disappoint. The foam in our lattes came near(dare I say met?) the high bar of perfection that is Kéan Coffee, and the character of the regulars working and hanging around the shop gave it a wonderful air of intimacy. We’ll definitely be back.

Picked El Encanto because of Unilocal. We had a great strong Chai latte. They also have a few small pastries/snacks. It is a nice setting in the courtyard and I definitely recommend filling your coffee fix here.

If you want a great place to relax and chat with friends it’s ideal. The coffee/espresso is just okay and the pastry selection at least when I was there was limited.

El Encanto has the best coffee on the island. This is a cool location tucked away in a courtyard. And if you are looking to jam on the guitar or bass guitar they are available for your use. El Encanto you rock!

Absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere was amazing — a small town, artsy feel. I ordered a plain iced coffee and the coffee was good. I loved the atmosphere, I’ll definitely be back… loved it! My only complaint is that they don’t accept debit/credit cards, its cash only. Other than that though, the place was great and the staff was friendly.

The start to a perfect day with my bride, ice coffee and blueberry muffin for me and an iced chai for my better half. Only problem? Cash only and no ATM in sight. Alas, we abandon this plan and find another establishment that doesn’t discriminate against plastic. I let my $ 12 do the talking cause that is how I roll…

A small little coffee shop off the port where Carnival Cruises stops. This is a sweet little place which gives people an opportunity to get real coffee at less inflated prices. The cappuccino that I ordered could had been better. It was more like an Americano with foam.

It was the cute little blue cups that drew me to this place. Menu says soy milk is an extra $ 1.50 but I dont think we were charged that much because our two small espresso drinks(one with soy, one without) totaled $ 8. Grab a drink from here, chat, and relax in the adjacent courtyard steps from its door.

Best coffee on catalina! This isn’t the best coffee I’ve ever had, though. The prices were VERYGOOD as well as the service, which catapulted it from a 3.5 to a solid 4. It’s tucked in a courtyard near the edge of the town. If you need coffee regularly I would suggest going here. Also — they offer AFFORDABLE and refillable cups of tea from Mighty Leaf with the cheapest prices here!

Good drinks, good desserts, good prices, friendly staff. Highly unusual for the island. It’s fairly small so don’t expect a massive menu. The island tart was excellent. The white hot chocolate was also tasty. I’ll definitely be back.

Found this after walking around in Avalon. — Experience — A small and cozy coffee shop a bit hidden from the rest of the other shops on the main strip. El Encanto is just a nice serene spot to grab a drink and relax. The small plaza that it is a part of is nicely separated and has a great view of the ocean. — Pricing — We had a large iced coffee which was reasonably priced around $ 3.50 if I remember correctly. Fairly priced and great flavor but a small selection of iced coffee. Overall — I’d definitely come back here for a drink.

A hidden gem. Of course that’s a mixed-blessing to write because enough people repeat it and this is suddenly not so hidden anymore! But they deserve the props… and the business. As mentioned in another review, I had a hankering for fresh-baked cookies the day we were there. We dawdled and dabbled throughout the afternoon, sampling the backstreets of Catalina to see what we had never seen before. I love traveling that way… especially when it leads you places like the Courtyard Café! As amazing as it sounds, it actually feels like you’ve escaped the tourist rat-race when you enter the square. The café is at the back, just tucked away enough that if you don’t look hard you might miss it. But you wouldn’t want to do that! If we had arrived sooner, I’m sure I would have been overwhelmed by mouth-watering selections. As it was, they were down to oatmeal/chocolate-chip cookies that seemed priced for locals and immediate devouring! It was soooooooooooooo nice to find a place where we felt apart from the craziness of the main drag. You’re not far from everything, yet it feels tucked away. The coffee smells great. The atmosphere, even greater. What a revelation! Come here to relax and unwind a bit, to take timeout for a cup of sanity and bite of delicious home goodness.

El Encanto is a charming little coffee spot in the nicely designed Spanish-style square. It’s very quiet in this area, and is a good place to hang if you don’t like crowds. The service inside the actual coffee shop was pleasant and they make a strong cup of coffee, which is great. They also have a little selection of treats to chose from if you have a sweet tooth.

Decent coffe but my favorite part about this place is that the courtyard seems to be less populated than most of the other areas in Avalon, plus the courtyard is also done in a very pretty Spanish style. A great place to get a drink and relax.

We went to Courtyard Coffee around 11am to pick up a small snack before heading over to Descanso Beach. It was slim pickings for pastry items but there were a few savory scones left. The bf and I each got one and sat outside to eat. The savory scone had Parmesan cheese, chives and pecans and was damn delicious. It was light, fluffy and basically the best scone I have ever had.

VERY nice guy working there; got a chocolate croissant and iced sugar cookie, plus a large bottled water. Hit the spot, and convenient to the Via Casino. Good place to re-energize with a mid-afternoon snack :)
