Nice lady behind the counter, but the burrito was horrible and barely edible… and I can eat almost anything. It was very salty and flavorless. Meat had a lot of chewy fat. Salsa tasted like it was canned Herdez brand… and salty. Salsa was stocked with old onions and old cilantro… at least a day old. So 6 hours later. I was totally grossed out and the lingering flavor was horrible. Back to the onions and cilantro… they stay fresh about two days in my fridge at home. Their onions and cilantro were like on day 3 – 4. The pico de gallo salsa tasted the same. But people were coming in, so it doesn’t make sense that they can’t turnover their food quick enough to keep it fresh. This was a very bad experience. I’ve always taken for granted that the food I have at home is fresh and the food I eat in restaurants is fresh. But this is a first for me… I’ve never been served old food. As I write this, this place is rated 3.5 stars.(It was 4 before my rating). Compared to prison food it’s 3.5 stars! Compared to 99 out of a hundred Mexican food joints it’s less than one star. As other say, I’d give it negative stars if I could!

Very tasty food. Good price. Super nice person! After long heavy driving, you won’t wanna eat any fast food. Here is a great place to go!

We spent a night on the road nearby. Based on the Unilocal reviews we decided to drive over to Avenal for supper. The menu is not extensive. I had a carnitas burrito which was delicious and filling. My wife had a Carne asada torta which was good but not outstanding. This is definitely not a place you go for the ambiance but the food was very good and was inexpensive.

The food may be good but I don’t know because when I walked in near the end of the day there seemed to be an inordinate amount of it on the floor. It was more than a little gross. And it made me concerned that their standards for general cleanliness were waaay too low. Familiarize yourselves with a broom and I bet you get you get more business!

Lots of options to choose from. I come here perhaps 3 times a month, food is delicious and filling. The carne asada burrito is my go to if I feel indecisive. Their pico de gallo and salsa is really good as well.

THE place for Mexican food in Avenal. Burritos, Tacos and Tortas. They even have hamburgers and Mexican fries. Good stuff. Give this place a try, u won’t regret it.

Took a long detour, but the food here is totally worth it. One of the best Mexican places I’ve been to. Not to mention there’s cheap gas here too.

I wanted some decent food on my way to Bakersfield and decided to take the 6-mile detour to give this a shot. Glad I did. It’s a cute place that makes great street-style tacos. I tried carnitas, asada, cabesa and chile colorado — the latter was my favorite, but they were all very good. Yes, the décor is hole-in-the-wall chic, but the place was clean, the food was great and the service was super friendly. Worth the detour.

Stumbled on this little gem when looking for another place that ended up being closed. So glad we took the chance! The menu boasts the usual taqueria items with a couple of interesting additions such as a giant shrimp cocktail and lenguas y tripas. The tortillas are all made there and are chewy and delicious. I ordered the chile verde burrito, no beans. The meat was spicy and not too juicy, which makes for a less messy burrito. My friend ordered the carnitas burrito and the pork was caramelized to perfection. I would have given them 5 stars, but they could use a little décor update. Go for the food, though!
