I recently moved to New Jersey from Indiana. I’ll admit that in Indiana, I had an AMAZING dentist… But I had a HORRIBLE experience with this guy, and really this practice overall. To begin, I made an appointment in June. I THOUGHT it was for a teeth cleaning and general checkup, but when I got there I was told that they don’t clean teeth on the first visit. According to them, some people’s teeth are so bad that they need to be put under for their cleaning. I was upset about this, because it seemed it was something they should have mentioned when I MADE the new patient appointment. Time is valuable and I’ve never had a dentist that needed a «consult» for a teeth cleaning. It was annoying, but whatever… Yesterday I went in for my cleaning. I left in tears. My mouth was all torn up and I was livid. Basically I got there at 8:45 and was taken back to the room at 9:00(my appointment time). I sat there and waited for 30 minutes. He finally came in. He seemed very rushed and didn’t really introduce himself(His partner in the practice had done my initial exam, so I had never met him before). He began my cleaning. Usually I have an INCREDIBLY high tolerance for pain, and I hate complaining… But this man was SOOOO rough when cleaning my teeth. I don’t feel they were particularly problematic, as it has only been 7 months since I was last at the dentist… It was really just like he couldn’t get done fast enough. Every other time he scraped, he seemed to take a chunk of my gum. At the end of the appointment, he had me rinse, and I spit out several mouthfuls of blood. In all the times I’ve ever been to the dentist(even when I hadn’t been for 5 years between appointments) I’ve never had a cleaning that caused this much pain… and I’ve certainly never bled that much from a simple cleaning. I’m also concerned that he was not thorough because I was out of there less than 20 minutes after he started. I have my suspicions that he rushed through my appointment because I overheard he and his receptionist talking about how they were«booked solid» and there was a patient that wanted to come in for an emergency appointment. He told his receptionist to call her and have her come in, and he would fit her in somewhere. This guy was abrupt, unpleasant, and clearly too rushed to pay any attention to what he was doing. This is the kind of dentist that makes people AFRAID to go to the dentist. Stay away!
