Had breakfast here. Seats were comfortable. Atmosphere was conducive for conversations. Beverages were kept full. Prices were reasonable. Vegan items: They don’t have fruit. The hash brown potatoes are made with butter. English muffins are also automatically swiped with butter. However, I requested my English muffin dry and with peanut butter and the potatoes to be made with olive oil; they obliged. They had to redo the English muffin(out of habit the cook added butter), but I understood. So I was able to dine here as a vegan and got my protein too.

Stopped for lunch and a had huge disappointment. Service was slow and the waitress was covered in tattoos. Not very appetizing. Not what I would expect from a reputable family restaurant. We used to stop for their lunch specials which were great. Not any more. We had spaghetti which tasted like it was out of a can. Seems like they have a new cook?

I have been here several times for thier«famous«prime rib… 2 times they were out… 2 times it wasnt ready. Tonight i finally got prime rib, however my partner ordered the buffelo strips, and the trend of disappointment continued. A dinky chic breast cut up, smothered in hot sauce on a leaf of lettuce! I was embarrassed for the resturant! I was stunned… i shared half my 18.00 prime rib with my partner, and later suplimented with quick bite from McDonald’s… atleast with them you know what to expect! I cant beleive our waitress had the nerve to even deliver the plate she did. What a waste of gas money to drive all the way there to support a resturant that obviously dosnt really care about its own reputation.

Seriously been around so long that the only people who like it are over 65+. They say they are German food, but the stuff is always overlooked and deep fried.

Well. We’ve come here 3 times now and every time someone in our party has gotten sick. The first two were just minor cases of diarrhea so we didn’t think much of it as it was cold season and those in question had a sore throat and sniffles. This brings us to tonight, or is it this morning technically? Either way it is now 4:34 in the morning and I finally have time to close my eyes but I feel this is an imperative review. For the last 6 hours my father has been extremely sick from both ends and my wife has been the same way, she only had a salad for crying out loud! Just when I think everything is calming down my 10 month old son who ate off my wife’s plate threw up in his crib so now I have 3 sick family members simultaneously from eating at St. James. Bottom line here folks, if I could leave a 0 star review, I would. Never coming back and will be making a phone call to management tomorrow morning! So much for being the Duke of this place…

We love to come here to eat. My daughter and son in law transferred here 1 ½ years ago and discovered the great broasted chicken here. They have 3 young kids that love the broasted chicken legs. The portions are good, the prices are very reasonable and it is still locally owned. A supper club atmosphere with a lot of history. They are also known for their homemade desserts, especially the chocolate spoon cake. Nice bar if you are not eating with kids.

Good times and delicious Friday noon-special fish in the tiny town. I always try to stop in when I’m home.
