Aviston Family Diner

Great place for breakfast or dinner. I am an Aviston native and now live in San Francisco. When I come home this place is one of my first stops. Love breakfast food and this type of hearty breakfast is sort of a Midwestern thing. They have good lunch options too, but for me, I have to have their breakfast food.
Friendly service, great food, and located in my lovely hometown of Aviston, IL. If your passing through or have always wanted to try if, give it a shot! You will not be disappointed.

If your hungry and going thru Aviston Illinois and see Aviston Family Diner. Keep going to the next town and try your luck. I really hate to bash a business but unless you like greasy food with a taste I can’t put my finger on but is not a good taste you need to roll on.
My daughters and I decided to stop and get some breakfast while waiting for her car to be repaired at the garage next door. We ordered or food and drinks I got coffee and sent first cup back because it looked like grease was floating on top of coffee and there was a film of what looked like dirt or dust sticking to the sides of cup. I drink coffee everyday and know that is not normal from the grounds. Then Biscuits and gravy came it was ok running and very little sausage but it was edible, with hot sauce. Then the rest of order came after a couple bites I had this strange taste in my mouth that was just nasty. I tried to eat some of the ingredients separately to find what tasted so bad but could not figure it out. So I just pushed the plate away and ate the toast. I probably should have said something but figured the waitress would see very little was eaten and make a comment or ask me if wanted a box to give me a opening for a comment. But they may be trained not to do that for fear of the answer.
My daughters seemed ok with their food at first but they too only ate less than half and tossed it in the trash when we got home.
I am not typically a complainer but this was real bad and I can’t belive people eat there a lot but it is the only resturant in town that is not a bar so they are kind of stuck unless they want to leave town. personally I would leave town.
