You’d never know it was there and even if you did, you’d look at the outside and drive on by. Thank you Unilocal for cluing me into the best and cheapest tacos in Highlands’s County.
How and where you order and eat here is very strange. There is an odd looking walk-​up window facing the parking lot and you order your mini-​tacos there. The times I have visited the girl at the window was handling both Spanish and English very well.
I’m a sucker for the Carne Asada version and usually order three for $ 5 and change. The tortillas are doubled and the normal street version is topped with cilantro and onion. You can get a red or green sauce to go with it. If it’s your first time ask for both. I’m partial to the green sauce myself. You can also get your tacos loaded (Americanized) with lettuce, cheese etc.
I gotta tell you; these little bundles of happiness are fantastic! They are cooked to order and bursting with flavor. For me, three makes a very nice lunch.
So where do you eat?
1. At the picnic tables under the much appreciated roof. As we all know that FL sun can be a bear.
2. In your car. You’ll see lots of folks doing this at a busy lunchtime.
3. Inside at a few very basic tables. This is a converted gas station so the atmosphere is nonexistent.
So come to this place for amazing tacos for a pittance and once again say «Thank you Unilocal for helping me find this place!»

I don’t know what happened to this place but waiting 45 minutes for lunch with no one here seems excessive.

AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD! Good was a great stop. You order at a booth outside and have the option of sitting at covered picnic tables or inside the building which is a gas station. The tacos are $ 1.25 and amazing! I had four because I was really hungry. They have chicken, steak, and pork. We had to order rice and beans inside (unfortunately the lady inside didn’t speak any English, thank goodness for those 6 years of Spanish in school). We also ordered a herchada (don’t know how to spell) which is a cinnamon creamy drink. Overall great service and great food! Understand that this is not a fine dinning place but a great stop for great food!

Best place for tacos in Highlands county. Super cheap and super tasty! Great for quick fast food! I absolutely love going here for tacos! Real authentic Mexican tacos.

A side cup of green sauce accompanied them, not sure what it was called, but it had the color of guacamole but much thinner and spicier, it was sublime.

Great Carne Asada tacos. My wife and I have been looking for authentic «street» tacos for quite some time now. These definitely fit the bill. Fresh ingredients, made to order, friendly service in the back of a convenience store. Had a couple Jarritos with it :) Very inexpensive. We got our tacos loaded: onion, cilantro, tomato, lettuce, cheese. The tacos are served with a lime and green sauce which was fabulous.

I don’t what it is about these mini tacos, but I go back whenever I’m visiting and get these with my family. They use to be $ 1 per taco, but they went up 25 cents, womp womp, I don’t care cause I’ll still get them.
The options they have are pollo (chicken), carne asada (beef), lengua (beef tongue), and I forgot what else they had but don’t worry for you pork lovers they have that too :) The taco consists of two mini tortilla’s then topped with meat, cilantro, and onion. Perfecto! It gets served with a lime and two sauces on the side, red and green. The red sauce is a little spicy, but just that right hint of spicyness. Definitely put both sauces on top of each taco.
This place also has a small restaurant inside, haven’t tried that yet, but also looks good. They also have a small grocery store connected with the restaurant.
Now go enjoy those taco’s, bet you can’t just have 1 ;)

Best tacos in town! For $ 1.25 per taco, it beats going to taco bell and having fake tacos.
