This is legit the first Unilocal review I have ever written, but I felt it was necessary so people don’t waste their time or money here. Upon my initial visit, Kim arrived almost an hour late with no phone call to let me know. Things happen and I get that, but then on top of it, she had two other clients scheduled at the same time as me. I was there for a two hour service and left after four hours when she was able to tend to my hair in between her other appointments. Although the first experience wasn’t great, keratin treatments are very expensive so I decided to join her membership club. That offers the normally $ 300 treatment for $ 100. After getting strep throat, I had to cancel the appointment on the same day which meant a 20% cancellation fee which is fair — her time is money(assuming I was the only client she he in the time period which I also doubt based on other reviews). She called me to tell me she would be late(again) in which I told her I was going to have to cancel because the strep was confirmed. She acknowledged the cancellation fee would be applied which I completely understood. I was anticipating a $ 20 charge(20% of $ 100) but she changed me $ 60 because the normal service was $ 300. I attempted to dispute — especially after that’s not stated anywhere on the scheduling platform she uses. When she sent me the screen shot of where it was sneakily buried on a page on the site that you wouldn’t access on your own, it still wasn’t worded clearly. Bottom line — very unprofessional, very scatter brained and sub par service so I guess you get what you pay for!

I was looking for someone«new» with«fresh ideas». Since Kim is a «specialist» in hair color and highlighting, I decided to try her with a groupon I had purchased. She arrived 40 minutes late for my appointment, I finally called her after 30 minutes, and she told me she was running late! There was no phone call to tell me that! Red flag #1. Red flag #2, she was disheveled and her hair was a mess! You expect your hair stylist to look«put together» and neat. She talked me into more then I went there for… my fault, however, two extra treatments I hadn’t budgeted for. I thought, she is the expert, or so she claims, so I will take her advice and do what she is suggesting… dye the roots, low lights with the highlights. The color of the roots came out extremely brassy and the highlights were not anything what I had talked to her about! I asked for extra foils around my face and it looked the same as the rest of my head! Being VERY unhappy and disappointed, I called to see what she could do for me to get my hair closer to what I had«talked to her about». Rather then make an appointment to come back in, she had me send pictures… guess she didn’t believe me. After seeing the pictures, she agreed that a toner AND more highlights were needed… AT another $ 55 for the highlights AND $ 45 for the toner! Of course I would have tipped her AGAIN, but did NOT feel obliged to pay again for a job I expected in the first place!!! This was a VERY unpleasant experience and I am VERY upset about my hair… something I have to live with for another 6 — 8 weeks!!! I am definitely NOT going back!!!

Purchased a groupon for a cut and full highlights. I arrived with my outrageous mess of fluffed out frizzy bleached to the max hair. She didn’t look at it twice… put some nice highlights in it, gave me a stylish textured cut I love, and all this took less than two hours — a lot less. So I like Kim — she’s personable, keeps the conversation moving, doesn’t doddle and I got what I came in for, which was great color and a good cut. There is no downside. No day after uh oh. She’s good at what she does.

I have been a client of Kim’s for 3 years and can honestly say I will follow her wherever she goes. She is as good as it gets in my book. I have tried so many an colorists and stylists and never found one that handled both well or who were consistent. UNTILKIM!!! She is truly an artist and master of her trade. I live in NYC and drive all the way to Unionville, CT every time I need a color or cut. I won’t let anyone else touch my hair! You won’t be sorry.

It’s my Birthday in a couple of weeks and I’m off to get another Keratin treatment and cut from Kim at Kim4Color in the Zinc salon space. Really nice space to hang out while I go through the process. Her prices are really great, it’s like getting a Deal of the Day when you become a regular client with her, and I really like that about her service. My results are consistent, I never need to use additional heat tools, and that is an amazing time-saver in my morning! I recommend Kim and her Keratin treatment.

I was recently looking for new hairdresser as mine had moved out of town. I came across Kim 4 Color on Groupon offering a cut and highlight for $ 65.00. I thought great try someone new and get a good deal. When I first called her I told her I was looking for a new hairdresser and so was my sister because ours had moved. I mentioned I am getting married and was interested in having someone do the updo’s for my wedding party and mother. When it came to scheduling an appointment she told me I had to go to her website and schedule it through a link. Once I got there I booked an appointment for a cut and one for color. I texted her a confimaion. She told me to cancel one of them. I found it confusing because there were many overlaps and openings where I had booked with her and tried to call her. She would not respond and started to text me. I also wanted to see if I could use the earlier time I booked but she said she was too busy to look at her schedule and I would have to deal with it myselft. She was too busy to answer my call or simply answer my question but she texted me 32 times!!! I asked her to please call me when she was not busy as I was at work and could not utilize the online scheduling and continue to recieve her texts at work. She said no! She was too busy to call or go online and check her schedule… and contintued to text. If I could cut and paste the whole conversation you would laugh. At one point she didn’t know who I was! I finally told her that I found texting and online scheduling very impersonal. She kept texting… then finally said her client was getting annoyed with all her texting. Well yeeeeah… she was doing it for hours. A very unprofessional person and very rude. I got my groupon refunded. I am thinking that she wasn’t even worth the value of the groupon. She also mentioned that she works on multilple people at once so don’t expect personal service. I am thinking this is an example of the customer service you would get there. I rate NOSTARS!

Kim rents a space in Zinc. First off I arrived late for my appointment and Kim didn’t have an attitude. She was gracious enough to take me despite arriving late. She has an amazing personality, very approachable and easy to talk to. Kim specializes in highlighting and coloring but I went to her for a keratin treatment. Her prices are amazing, you can simply call her up and she is willing to negotiate the price. I can’t say enough good things about her but I didn’t like my results at all. I’ve had keratin treatments in the past and had better results. My hair looked«perfect» after the application but once washed it was back to its frizzy self. I’ve had it done in the past so I know my hair takes the product. I don’t know what went wrong, was it the product or was it the technique? My frizzy hair remains frizzy so I didn’t really get what I went in for. Sure Kim is nice and sweet but I went to see her for a service and I didn’t really get what I went in for. Off to try another salon because when I’m paying for a keratin treatment I prefer not to have to straighten the hair daily.
