First off let me say that Pure Barre is not for everyone but it is DEFINITELY worth a try because you can instantly fall in love. This class is a friendly and upbeat toning and active class geared towards anyone and everyone who loves to stay at a fast pace and utilize body movements instead of a ton of weights. Do not get me wrong there are weights and resistance bands used can feel like a lot! This class leaves you feeling great AND sore. The instructors are constantly getting updates and refreshers to bring NEW and EXCITING movements to class that are challenging for your body. This is at your own pace and there are many modifications as well as every instructor is available to assist if you just ask. I go 2 – 3 times a week here between the Rocky River location and Avon and then do lifting and boxing but I find Barre is the workout that loosens me up, lets me recover and helps me tone places I may not be hitting with weight lifting and boxing. So give it a shot, contact a studio and get in for your first time!

It’s an ok studio as far as Pure Barre classes go. Front desk was great, as were the teachers I’ve had. 3⁄5 stars because the owner dealt with a complaint I had pretty poorly. She gave me the distinct impression of a snobby high-school cheerleader who never quite grew out of that phase. Her response was akin to that dentist who shot Cecil; an attempted apology, bypassing the actual apology part.

If you are looking for some lovely ladies to whip you into shape? My friend and I signed up for one month of unlimited classes at their introductory price and I have never been happier to get my behind handed to me, thats right after just a few weeks I actually had a tush! I have never been one to work out so I was nervous for out first class. The staff was so friendly and welcoming that I did not feel discouraged when I wasn’t able to do every move. Rather the instructors were encouraging and made every effort to ensure proper technique and maximum results. This workout got easier and at the same time more challenging with each session. With a variety of modification and moves I felt myself getting stronger each week. For as much as I loved Pure Barre the only downside is the cost of classes. I would love to get back to classes if it were more affordable.

I love pure barre! I have been going for about 3 months now and I really have seen a change in my body. I was a little skeptical at first as I am an avid yogi but I have found that pure barre has actually IMPROVED my yoga practice! It really is a challenging work out that is low impact and high intensity with a focus on the core. As another person said earlier, it actually gets harder as you get better because you are doing the movements properly and you learn how to «tuck». It is a little pricey but the studio is constantly having specials which makes it totally worth it, look out for them. I would recommend it either to supplement your current exercise routine or just by itself but definitely try it out!

I really enjoyed my unlimited month here. It is an extremely effective workout that I found fun and challenging. I have a ton of orthopedic issues and have had several surgeries and I found this to be safe and do-able. So basically, if I can do it, anyone can! Nice clean place. Friendly and helpful instructors. The other participants in the classes did not seem super friendly, I got kind of a cold vibe. It’s probably because there are sooo many different class times, they might not have a great deal of class regulars. I’ve only had a month of experience, but my favorite instructor was JoJo. She will kick your ass! This workout goes by fast so you won’t have time to get too frustrated.

I love Pure Barre and it has totally changed the way I think about my fitness régime, and more importantly changed my body. I have been going consistently for the last 9 months and have noticed strength and tone where I never had it before. Don’t be fooled by the small movements – doing the moves correctly is vital in Pure Barre, and when done properly you get the most out of your workout. The instructors are always helpful with hands-on adjustments to get you into the proper positioning for the best(and safest) results. The crazy thing about PB is that the more you go, the harder it actually gets, because you learn how to do things the right way(which is where the real burning and shaking comes in!) So that keeps me from getting bored and also keeps you from ever feeling like you’ve «mastered» it. The routines always follow the same basic structure(arms, thighs, seat, abs) but the moves are always different, so no two classes are alike. The variety is great. Each section of class is followed by a bit of stretching, which is what helps create long, lean muscles – so sure, the method is geared toward women, but I don’t see what’s wrong with that. My flexibility has significantly improved since starting classes here. The instructors at this location are excellent – they’re so friendly, helpful, and make a great effort to learn your name. The experience from start to finish is very personable and they’ve done a great job of creating a sense of community there. If you’re a repeat customer, you really feel the camaraderie, among the instructors and among your classmates. The studio is clean and comfortable, and they have a changing room in case you come in after work. Pure Barre makes for a great all-around fitness routine, or as a toning compliment to cardio. I think it really just depends on what you’re looking for. For me, I’m addicted and will keep coming as often as possible!

In order to give this a proper review I should first start off by saying the beauty of places like Pure Barre is that it appeals to certain folks. Just like Crossfit is not for everyone, Pure Barre is not for everyone. The class I attended was approximately 25 women(yes, 100% estrogen fest) ranging in age from mid 20s to low 50s. The 60 minute class combined a bit of warmup cardio(think old school 80s aerobics movements like Gil Gilard used to do… Jesus I just really, really dated myself), strength exercises with resistance bands, core strengthening with a lightweight ball, and using the barre to perform many exercises to target the hips, glutes and abs. Most of the exercises in the class I took were done on the floor. Pure Barre’s focus is on «spot training»… the trouble zones on women and they encourage you to make small movements(less than an inch movement) when performing everything. Like put a little ball in between your thighs(hello Suzanne Somers Thigh Master!) and squeeze the hell out of it. Depending on your muscle tone, you may or may not feel muscle soreness the next day or two. The facility is very nice and very clean. And nicely air conditioned. The thing I loved(that I wish my yoga studio did) is the instructor places 2 large tubs of antibacterial wipes in the middle of the room at the end of class, and each person is responsible for wiping down her mat. Smart! Now I know why my mat didn’t have a horrible funk smell to it… The instruction is good with hands-on adjustments. The instructor also wears a microphone so you can hear her over the music. All good. The price… This is where I really ding it. $ 130 per month. I think that is super pricey! But again, if it works for you and you consistently go then it is worth it, right? I would say Pure Barre is geared toward women who enjoy a class setting, who want a feminine atmosphere, who want to lightly tone their bodies with super light weights(2 – 5 lbs) and who only want to break a tiny sweat. I think it is a great place for women to go who don’t like a gym scene or who are easing themselves back into exercise. Is Pure Barre for me? No. I am a hardcore trail runner, Crossfitter, hot yoga and HIIT fanatic so I prefer gritty, dirty, and intense-sweat producing workouts that push me to my redline. GREAT apparel shop with lots of clothes from Lole. That was a nice surprise and delight factor!
