Located on Simsbury Road(Route 10) and Mountain View Avenue, Sperry Park is a small(9.4 acres) park mostly developed into athletic fields and a small picnic area. They have three baseball diamonds, and a Snack Bar for the ballplayers and their families. Sperry Park also hosts the annual Avon Volunteer Fire Department’s carnival. The Rails and Trails system has a section cutting north/south through the Park, so you can essentially walk on the trail from Route 202⁄10 northward, cross from Avon into Simsbury until you hit Hopmeadow Street We went there today as part of Hartford Hospital’s «Walk With a Doc» program — a series of walks around the state encouraging people to get up and get active. They gave out hats, T-Shirts, pedometers and bottles of water. We walked to Hopmeadow Street and back, getting nice views of Heublein Tower and the Farmington River. It was a very nice morning in a beautiful location
