I really liked the place my first visit in October. I had the cheese battered corndogula and a milkshake. I went back in May when they reopened and a keilbasa with peppers took almost 20 minutes to cook and the mac n cheese had a lot of burnt cheese and ¼ a cup of oil at the bottom of the cup.

This is NOT the same ol Pallookaville. The food is still quirky and decent but the service is terrible and the wait staff not customer focused. Our server had dirty clothes on and dirt under his fingernails. The majority of the staff have a less than clean appearance. It took at least 15 minutes to be greeted after being seated. Server lacked basic wait skills like taking orders from everyone at the table, bringing extra napkins, etc. The time for the food and drinks to come out was VERYSLOW for a less than full restaurant. The adult shakes do not taste near as good as previously. And it took forever to pay through the server. Miss the cashier at the front due to the slow service. And I am tired of hearing the servers saying«I’m sorry» to all the tables. Sadly, we will not come here as often as we used to.

So many choices and all of them are good! Food is amazing — I did corn dog and sweet potato waffle fries, which were so good! — and the service was quick and responsive. The décor is also highly entertaining; love this place!

BEFORE Pallokaville closed down for several months, they were amazing. Incredible vibe through out the entire experience. Wait staff took orders on iPads and were incredibly attentive. The food was superb. AFTER they re opened, it is terrible. I have gone twice. The first time it was okay, the vibe was not as fun and friendly. The second time I went, the chicken apple sausage had no apple. After sending it back twice they admitted to it not even being a chicken apple sausage. Had it been a chicken apple sausage, it would of been amazing. The wait staff is less than friendly and they take orders on pen and paper. Not like before with iPads.

This is my favorite restaurant. Great food with interesting twists. A great atmosphere that keeps me entertained. The reopening has given it a new feel, and they seem to still be getting their feet underneath them. I love it, though. You should go.

Well, big fail Palookaville! Walked in today sat down with a friend for lunch and waited 10 minutes to not be greeted or approached by the wait staff. Meanwhile they approached two other tables that arrived after us. Won’t be back.

BEST pimento cheese in Atlanta. Get the skins(which come out poppin’) and pimento cheese appetizer. The boozy milkshakes are great, too. The booze cream… is weird. They also have some fun adult sodas. They recently changed owners and renovated and the prices have dropped. My favorite snack went from $ 8 to $ 6 without a change in portion size. Head out to Avondale Estates earlier to shop at the thrift store next door, Second Life. It is hands-down the best finds, and the proceeds are put to use in their animal shelter. Half off apparel on Wednesdays.

This is my third time here and I have to say it is something to experience. I am going to try and meld all 3 visits into this one review, of course my last one being the focus. First of all this is definitely some place that we looked forward to. Have had the corndogs from the food truck before and they were great ! Sometimes small batch just doesn’t translate to mass production. All three times the corndogs have been cooked differently. On a positive note the last time being the best ! I’ve had severely over cooked to somewhat doughy in the middle. If you do go, try the shakes and sodas. However, try to get the server that is actually attentive or like my last time they will sit on the bar melting away. Though priced on the high end, the sandwiches are generous and tasty. The fries on the other hand were just blah. Not sure if we got the end batch or the time we got them in the poutine we just didn’t notice. I have to say that the time we had to wait we suspect my first corndog was burnt and the other food waited for the second to cook. Which may account for the coldish limp fries and the well cooked corndog. The food aside, even if the food is not quite exceptional we as customer base our experience as much on the service. The first two times I have visited were either peak busy times or with a large party. So I guess I gave some leeway to the wait staff. This last time though was so horrid that I was about to get up and walk out. We arrived just before noon and the place only had a few tables sat, the music was even off. Which by the way was a blessing its usually 2 notches too loud in there. 3 of the 4 waiters honestly seemed like they had partied too hard the night before or as our waiter seemed, carried it over into lunch the next day. He was inattentive, distant, and honestly so spaced out I wasn’t sure he knew where he was. I will say he got real friendly when the check arrived and his tip was imminent. NOW the ONE saving grace was the tall waiter in a suit with gauge earnings. He was super friendly, brought our food out and not only made sure we got what we needed but made a suggestion for fry seasoning.(maybe he noticed how badly cooked they were) Pallookaville has lost its charm and that was our last visit to the restaurant, especially with new and good restaurants opening all around them. Though I will happily stand in line for a corndog from the truck.

I love the corn dogs. If this place utterly failed at everything else, they would be a three star restaurant just for the corn dogs. They don’t fail at everything though, but I’ve been three times and the problems seem to come with the service more often than not. First lets hit the food. I’ve had two corn dogs, tater tots, poutine, french fries, a pig mac, a milk shake, tried a few bits of a peanut butter sandwich type thing, and the cowboy nachos. Yes, I’ve had all that in three trips. Don’t judge me. The theme is a bit hard to put your finger on, but essentially its gourmet carnival food with an over the top flair. The poutine is the best in the Atlanta area that I have had bar none. The fries push into special territory. They aren’t unique per say, but everything about them is right. Hand cut, deep fried to just done. Throw the graveyard seasoning(its a seasoned salt of some sort) on them and you are good to go. The pig mac is a gourmet take on the big mac. They throw thousand island dressing on there, one patty is a pork patty and the other is a beef patty. Its a very very good burger. The chili on the cowboy nachos is bowl worthy and it has chorizo! The corn dogs are nothing short of magical. Picture everything you like about a corn dog and then multiply it by 10 in the best way possible. The one that is a combination of every type of dog they have is the best. It is like a mystery bite of deliciousness each type you bit into it. They bring a stone ground mustard that is near perfect to go with the thing. Before this, I had never had a corn dog that I really looked forward to eating. This thing… this thing is trip worthy. This thing is perfect. I’m going to say something I never thought I would say but the peanut butter sandwich thing, while ok, is a bit too over the top. There are three different types of butters on this thing and they seemed to get lost in each other. I love the bacon on it and maybe would add some jelly and cut down on the amount of butter. I’m not sure. I liked it but didn’t love it. Then we get to the service. Look, I’ve heard enough about the milkshakes here to know they have to be good but I only tried one on my last trip. It was flavored milk. Maybe the ice cream didn’t have time to solidify. There was apparently a party of 25 that all ordered shakes just before I came in. Perhaps that threw something off. I don’t know. The shake was bad. I’m willing to go back to give it another shot. 2 out of the 3 times I went there were service issues. The first time was near their first grand opening, but the server got into a bit of a debate about one of our party having sweet tea when he clearly didn’t. Our drinks were empty a good bit. I chalked it up to «hey they just opened!» The second time I went the service was flawless. The 3rd time was my most recent. We got seated pretty quickly and then we sat… and sat… and sat. Then entered our server. His name was Elvis and the place seemed to immediately fix itself. I think six parties were seated and they were all handled by Elvis. Sure, it took a bit but Elvis seemed to untie the knot despite having six parties seated in his section all at the same time. So Elvis seems to be a pretty awesome server. He has a sense of humor too which made the day all the more enjoyable. Bottom line: Go here but don’t be in a big hurry. Eat an epic corn dog with some poutine. Explore the menu. Enjoy.

Date of Visit: May 1, 8pm The dinner was pretty good — a double beef burger with Waffle Fries. However, I came because my sister pointed this restaurant in a list of places in or near Atlanta with good chocolate desserts. I chose this place for their milkshakes, & this place did not disappoint. It’s made with local chocolate ice cream, hand-dipped and hand-spun with local milk. The service was very good — the Bartender Melanie kept up a lively conversation through the course of dinner & dessert. This place was closed for a few months, but had reopened in the previous week. I suggest you go — the milkshakes are great.

Went on a Saturday evening around 5:45pm. The food here is pretty good and very creative, if you LOVE corn dogs and veal gravy, you will not be disappointed. I am only giving 3 stars for the fact the service was not very good. Our server seemed zoned out and inattentive. I had one complaint regarding the Green Chilli and he said, «.we are out of it, so it must be good…, maybe it’s just that YOU didn’t like it.» This person needs a lesson in Customer Service and Tact. From what Emery, the manager, told us he has an entirely new wait staff. From seating to order taking was 45 minutes and it was another 40 minutes to get food and ice water. Bar drinks came after our food arrived. Emery comp’d half of our bill and that’s great, but you shouldn’t have to do that if your staff is on point.

Great concept, mediocre execution. A group of four of us went for the perfect hangover lunch and no one was overly impressed by the food. The meats(sausages, dogs, kielbasas) were good, but the toppings and sides were mediocre at best. Not terrible but definitely not worth the trip.

What a fun place! I went here with a work friend to handle some business. The décor is totally over the top, but festive. Kids must love this restaurant. Pallookaville offers corndogs, various sausages, salads, pork burgers, sandwiches, fries and spuds, custom sodas(including adult versions), ice cream/milkshakes(including adult versions), and alcoholic beverages. I ordered a corndog — you can choose your meat(100% beef frank, Polish kielbasa, Italian sausage, all 3, or pickle) and your batter(cornbread, pepper or cheese). This is not your average corndog. You can tell it is a specialty item. Added onion tater tots. Not a big fan of tots, but it is their popular side. Next time, I would get fries. Since they offer specialty milkshakes, I decided to go with that on my first visit. I got Banana Choco-Nut with chocolate ice cream, bananas, and peanut butter sauce. Very decadent. Not my fave though. Next time, I would go classic with strawberry. Can’t wait for their new spot to open in L5P.

Very artistic folk-artish décor. Staff is courteous and professional and unique(our waitress had a full head of purple hair). Reuben and the hot dogs were both excellent. Big selection of custom made unique soft drinks and shakes including Green River soda which I’ve only seen in Chicago. After being seated and having a look around at the staff and most of the clientele I commented to my wife«Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in East Cobb anymore». Viva la difference! We left with smiles on our faces — what more could you ask for?

We went on New Year’s Eve with a group of 10 or 12! We had good service and it was a great experience! I tried the sour cherry and the pear sodas, both great. I preferred pear which was pretty sour too! I also got an adult soda, the translyvanian, it was a pumpkin Kahlua soda, it was SOSTRONG! Almost too strong haha but I wouldn’t ever complain of that! I got the frankfuter sandwich, I forget what it’s called, came with chili and sour kraut. It was so big and huge it was almost gross! Boyfriend got the triple decker sandwich, it had so much pimento cheese on it that he thought it was disgusting. They had a corn dog drop for New Years which isn’t as cool as it sounds. But 5 stars because I loved the whole vibe of the restaurant

Went here after visiting Wild Heaven Brewery, and it hit the spot! Everything was delicious and there were so many items we all wanted to try. It was great. I have been begging my husband to go back after beer tasting again, it really was a perfect combo. We had the corndog and some chili fries. Both were cooked well and delicious. Not to mention they offer a lot of craft beers. Interesting place, with fun décor and lively guests.

Being from South Florida, I was anxious to try this Atlanta staple. Sadly, I wish we had gone somewhere else… okay, I really wish we had gone ANYPLACE else… So let’s start with the positives, HUGE corn dog. And the freshly fried crackling is pretty much to die for. That’s it in the plus column. And now the disappointments: 1. Corn dog was so greasy you could actually see the grease ooze out when you take a bite. Not just bad, but pretty disgusting. 2. Pimento cheese was a salt-lick. 3. Fries were limp and soggy. 4. They were out of sauerkraut, so no Reuben 10 minutes after we ordered. «Try the pork burger, it’s great!» Oh how wrong can one person be. She said it didn’t taste like sausage and wasn’t greasy. So it WAS sausage and was so greasy it was inedible. If you’re looking for a greasy spoon buffet disguised as a restaurant, you found it. If you even remotely care about flavor or quality, look elsewhere. We will never even consider visiting again.

Interesting Décor, Kitsch Kitsch, Kitsch. I got no problem with that, love it, really. The staff was super friendly. even when something I ordered had bell peppers in it. The menu was a little confusing to me and I was sorry about that. Great place for kids and adults. There are several different yummy foods on sticks. My boo tried three and liked the sausage the best. I liked the boozy milkshakes. Fun for the kids and the kid in you!!!

Pallookaville is equal parts carnival and the store owned by John Waters’s character in an episode of The Simpsons. It’s got such a unique and entertaining atmosphere that distinguishes it from the majority of Atlanta restaurants. Now I definitely want to bring out-of-town guests here. Service is a plus: the waitresses are all cheerful and are on top of things, and often heavily tattooed/sport wild hair colors. If you dig corndogs and milkshakes(both non-alcoholic and boozy kinds), Pallookaville is the place for you. Or even if you don’t, like me, you’ll find something on the expansive menu. I’ve gotten the poutine, pork burger, and the cheese pork Philly. And a slice of chocolate peanut butter pie. The cheese pork Philly comes in half pound and quarter pound sizes. I got the quarter pound, and it was still a beast of a sandwich. Yummy! The pork burger is a little odd if you’re a big beef burger person like me, but it’s still satisfying and tasty. My poutine expert assures me that the poutine is just like something you’d find in Montréal. We are in agreement that The General Muir’s fancy poutine still reigns supreme, but for more of a drunk food experience, Pallookaville’s poutine is perfect. Even though the grub is so rich, I managed to fit in a slice of pie. That was smart since it was peanut buttery goodness. Pallookaville has all kinds such as apple, coconut cream, and chocolate mousse. The pies may come from Southern Sweets as they seem to sell Southern Sweets bagged cookies at the counter and have menus for the bakery. Welcome to Pallookaville!

You can find Palookaville Fine Foods right in the heart of downtown Avondale Estates(or at least what I think of as downtown). This fine establishment sits at the corner of N. Avondale Rd(turns into East College further West and Covington Hwy further East) and N. Clarendon Ave. You can park in the lot on the N. Clarendon Ave side or nearby either in lots or on the street. Do be careful as this area of town is infamous for the speed traps, especially during posted school zone times. You may have heard of Jim Stacy via his show«Offbeat Eats» or maybe via his«Get Delicious» shows on PBS. I’ve known him for many years, either through friends or from his corn dog stand at the Starlight Drive-In Theater on Moreland. While I am a huge fan of the corn dog, I actually prefer a big sloppy Chicago style dog so after venturing to My Parent’s Basement for a brewskie and kimcheese sandwich, I decided to head to Palookaville for something a bit more substantial(plus a boozy shake, of course). The interior of Palookaville is made up of reclaimed wood and reused surfaces — it’s quite warm and looks very lived-in. Along the walls are tons of kitsch and memorabilia, much of it echoing my own collecting interests so yes, I felt right at home indeed. I saddled up to the bar and engaged a rather overworked and hectic bartender. There are two menus available — one primarily made up of cocktails and the other primarily of food creations). There were quite a few delicious-sounding options including egg creams, cream sodas, parfaits, custom syrup sodas and shaketails — yum! I decided to go with a basic boozy shake made up of vanilla ice cream and Kraken rum(my old standby for Dark and Stormy’s). The food menu consists of the aforementioned Corndogs(with several options from beef to a veggie option made from Mt Olive pickle); Hot Dogs(referenced as Frankfurter Sandwiches), chopped salads, vegan or meat chili bowls, pork burgers, your typical topped fries and a mess of house sandwiches. With all this going on, I decided that I needed the Reuben — ½ LB of pastrami, sauerkraut and Swiss cooked with 1000 island dressing on rye with half sour. I’m happy to say that it was juicy, greasy and oh-so-good! I think this will be my go-to sandwich in future visits. In a way, I wish I still lived in Clarkston as this is the ideal hangout for me(well, between Palookaville and My Parents’ Basement most of my needs are covered). As it is, I think this is going to be a regular stop when I shop at the Dekalb Farmers Market. (slightly longer review in my food blog)

This place is awesome! They have a full bar and offer a huge menu to satisfying your soda shop/carnival food cravings. Want a vanilla cinnamon milkshake with a shot of cinnamon whiskey? No problem. They have small and large options for a lot of the dishes which comes in handy if you want to sample many things with a group of friends. They also give you a choice with your burger and rueben sandwiches. I got a ¼ pound pork burger and a half order of cheese tots. The corn dog stayed a little too long in the fryer, but still tasted great. The food is well priced. I’m totally going back!

This place is amazing for burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes, and drinks. I fell in love with the atmosphere when I first got there. It had a little bit of a 60’s diner feel with a very badass vibe… the waitresses all had rainbow colored-hair, tattoos, and awesome tattoos. I had never set foot in a restaurant like this before. I ordered their famous pork burger because that’s one of their signature items. It was very tasty and flavorful. I definitely wanted another one because it was that good! As I was eating, I also was looking through their milkshake and alcoholic shake menu. There were SO many unique options that it took me 20 minutes to finally decide. I finally went with a simple strawberry milkshake… oh my goodness. It was perfect. Not too thick, super creamy, perfect consistency, and amazing flavors. Definitely one of the BEST milkshakes I’ve ever had… and I drink milkshakes more often than the average person. Also, the service was stellar. Bottom line: If you want something more fun and unique compared to the average burger joint, you NEED to come check this place out.

I like Pallookaville, I do. But. I guess I’m not a big corn dog person. I prefer hot dogs. Parking — there’s parking to the side of Pallookaville. I did hear there’s more parking down the hill if you can’t find any in the lot. Space — Bigger than I expected. And the inside looks super cool. All kinds of stuff… including a clown. Interesting. Service — This was okay. We had maybe 10 people with us and the girl who had us was kind of struggling. But maybe it was because we came during dinner time. Oh — they use iPads to help with the ordering. I love the iPad method. Food — Tator Tots — these were better than the fries. Glad I got them. Crispy and awesome. Get these for sure if wondering what to choose. The 3 type meat corn dog — I guess I expected more. the first 2 meats tasted the same. The 3rd one actually tasted really good. But the breading was so burnt, it wasn’t worth it. Pecan Pie with chocolate — I liked it. Reminded me of a granola bar, haha. I’m a fan of dessert, so it’s hard for me to bash it.

I read enough reviews on Unilocal to know that I was in for a gloriously gluttonous time at Pallookaville. So I starved myself all day and wore my skinniest skinny jeans to(try and) keep myself in check during my first visit. First, this place isn’t all that big… unless I missed something. So I’m not sure why some people complained that their party of 1342 people couldn’t be seated right away. I thought the restaurant was adequately sized *shrugs* I liked the décor and the fact that they were playing Looney Tunes on the TV… perfect for #TBT Although I actually wanted to try the pork burger – I never knew there was such a thing – I went for the corn dog instead since it’s Pallookaville’s claim to fame. It was pretty good. I can’t remember the last time I had a corn dog, but I enjoyed this one. The fries on the other hand… I feel like I was the victim of one of those carnival game scams where I really wanted the big toy prize and ended up with some off-brand, little stuffed animal instead. I grabbed a few tater tots from another Unilocaler, and those tasted better than the fries. I also sampled another Unilocaler’s mac & cheese, and that was good as well. I wasn’t sure about the whole Cheez-It thing, but it works here. Thumbs up for super cheesy deliciousness. Of course, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t order a cocktail. I got the Mai of the Tiger – their version of a Mai Tai. It was okay, but I didn’t finish it(now that’s unlike me). I ordered the Happy Birthday to Me shake instead since my birthday’s in about two weeks. It helped me get the party started a little early! So the experience wasn’t a complete fail.

Pallookaville Fine Foods, it finally happened. Oh, how long it’s been bookmarked for me to try! It’s not often that I find myself in Avondale Estates, after all! Putting the dessert before the main course, we tried the Mexican Hot Chocolate Shake. Chocolatey with a spicy cayenne pepper finish. Nifty… and served by the most rockabilly wait staff known to Metro-ATL to boot! Truly, tatted-up women rocking 1950’s era style, who’da thunk it? The Fryinstein corndog — legend. I had to take on that monster, cobbled together from lesser corndog parts — three types of sausage(beef frank, kielbasa, and Italian sausage), battered and fried until a crispy brown crust forms. It’s alive! Mwhahahaha! Erm… how does one non-suggestively eat battered sausage of such girth? Rhetorical question. Pull out the corndog stick and knife & fork it. Squeeze out some of that house-made sausage mustard. Savor the flavors of each of the three sausages(Kielbasa was by far the best, Italian sausage had too much fennel). We opted for fries done poutine style(cheese curds and gravy)… didn’t have the fortitude or requisite antacids to go full on «garbage» style(cheese curds, gravy, cheese, onions, and peppers). Not too bad, not too great — good gravy but the cheese curds had melted into unwieldy globs. No doubt, Pallookaville Fine Foods(what’s so «fine» about it anyway?) was an experience worth having… if only just one time.

The dishes: Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk shake and Fryinstein corndog What a cool spot! The Cinnamon Toast Crunch milk shake was a perfect blast from the past of Saturday Morning cartoons and carefree Summer days. I loved the touch of actual cereal in the shake itself and as toppings. The Fryinstein corndog was a mutant of a corndog. Definitely not something you find at the county fair. It contained a beef frank, Polish kielbasa, and Italian sausage and fried to a serious crunch. I liked the beef frank and Polish kielbasa but thought the Italian sausage was too dry. Loved the extra crunchy deep fried batter. You could easily share both these items and leave satisfied but I think it would really hard to… #2/100 and #3/100 of my food adventure through Creative Loafing’s 100 Dishes to Eat in Atlanta 2015

Nice space with a lot of easy seating. I sat against the wall on the far side from the door, affording a great view of the restaurant. That’s important when dining solo. Super friendly service right from the start. Pallookaville has an extensive menu but as this was my first time, I went with Unilocaler recommendations: Fryinstein, tots. Plus a Green River soda and an order of ‘boilt nuts’ to go. Lot of food. The Fryinstein is rather large, larger than I imagined from photos. Of the three meats, the beef frank was my favorite, enough so that I’d probably have preferred a standard corndogula. Thick cornbread coating — you can order double-dipped, but it’s not necessary. Green River soda is great — not too sweet and I’m normally a Diet Coke/Coke Zero drinker. The so-called ‘small’ order of tots is borderline huge. Very good tots, maybe the best I’ve had in memory. The boiled peanuts were a bit of a disappointment — too salty and there’s a weird flavor I can’t pin down but I don’t care for it. Maybe it’s just me. You do get a whole lot of them. Given the few customers when I was there(early lunch time on a cold, rainy day), parking was not a problem in the lot next to the restaurant, although the concrete curbs inexplicably have ‘No parking’ written on them. Maybe you’re not supposed to park in the parking lot?

I like this place. I love the decorations. I love the people that work here. Everything is set up to give you some sort of a kitchy experience. I never liked corn dogs. I still don’t like corn dogs. I do, however, like Pallookaville’s corn dogs. These are the best corn dogs I’ve tasted. I tried their Corndogula, which comes with 100% beef frank, and their Cornleone, which comes with Italian Sausage. They also had Frayinstein. Our server said the Frayinstein is a size of a small child’s arm. I didn’t feel like eating a child’s arm so I opted for the smaller corn dogs. If you had to choose, get the Corndogula. This is the traditional, good-old fashioned, classical corn dog. The 100% beef frank made it taste great. The cornbread batter tasted amazing. It had the right amount of sweet and the right amount of savory from the frank to create something magical. The Cornleone was good too. However, it pales in comparison to the Corndogula. Maybe next time time, I should try the Corndogski, which comes with Kielbalsa. But I don’t know, that Corndogula was so good. I don’t know if I can be tempted away from ordering the Corndogula again. They have 3 condiments on the table to use for the corndog: Ketchup, Mustard, and Grainy Mustard. Try all three! But I would go for the Grainy Mustard. If you wanna feel like a kid again, Ketchup is acceptable. I tried their boiled peanuts. It was okay. I didn’t like the weird flavoring they put on it. Maybe if they had a more normal tasting boiled peanuts? They were boiled fine. It’s not something I’ll get again. I also tried their poutine. I liked it. I think it needed more gravy though. It felt like it was just Fries and Cheese Curds. I wasn’t a fan of their Pork Hamburger. It tasted too much like pork to me. Not that it’s a bad thing, but I like my burgers with beef. It’s a good gimmick though. Just give me a good, old fashioned beef burger done to medium rare with a nice, toasted bun please. Their Pimento Cheese Sandwich was absurd. It had so much cheese, I felt like I was eating a huge cheese block with a piece of bread. I would think even die-hard cheese lovers would get sick of the amount of cheese on this sandwich. They also had sodas made with real cane sugar. They come in all sorts of flavors. I love sodas. So I tried their banana soda. It tasted like what a banana soda should taste like – very artificial and not like the real thing. It reminded me of banana candies. My wife was not a fan. I was. I want to try all their sodas. I tried their Vegan Cherry Pie and their Peanut Butter Pie. Their Vegan Cherry Pie was okay. It just tasted like your everyday Cherry Pie, for the most part. The crust, being a vegan crust, didn’t taste that good. I don’t know why. The Peanut Butter Pie’s crust was great. Maybe because it wasn’t vegan. I guess animal products taste good. Their Peanut Butter Pie was so creamy and decadent. I loved the rich peanut butter flavor. If you wanna try a pie, try this pie. I liked Pallookaville Fine Foods. I hate corn dogs, but I’ll drive 45 minutes to gorge on their corn dogs. It’s a great, family and hipster friendly place. I recommend it.

So… this place is kind of ridiculous. Now, ridiculous can certainly be good, but ridiculous it is. Everything is overdone/extravagant — the décor, the food, the drinks, even the print on the menu. As everyone has said, fun, high calorie, carnival-like food. I’ve come here a couple times with friends who love it; once for brunch, and once for dinner. Brunch — I got a bowl of grits with sausage and eggs — nothing crazy. When I went for dinner, I got a corn dog and fries. Because, well, corn dogs are awesome and I’ll always have one when there is an option. I got the corndogski, which is kielbasa. I almost didn’t order it because on the menu there is a «warning» implying it will take a while to come out. But everything came out in a reasonable time. While I’ve liked everything I’ve had, I am not the target audience for Pallookaville. I recognize this. I almost feel like their awesomeness was wasted on me. Like, they had 5 million types of interesting sodas — which sounds cool, but I don’t drink soda. You can get your fries cheesed, onioned, peppered, pastramied, poutined, pimento cheesed… which is overkill for me so I got mine plain. And they have all sorts of unique, cool-sounding specials and combinations… which kind of make me feel like I would be sick if I ate them. Not sick because they were bad, but because you ate too much bad-for-you stuff at once. I even almost feel like I’ll get a headache reading the menu which is(I know, intentionally) overloaded with colours, large fonts, and almost no white space. Anyway. If you are looking for something different and fun, by all means check it out. If you’re trying to find something«normal» you may have to hunt a little. It’s just the kind of place that I would personally have to space out my visits to, because I find it a little overwhelming. That said, I love corn dogs. So there’s always that =).

I’ve waited for YEARS to come to this place, YEARS I TELLYOU!!! Well, so much wasted anticipation. I’ve never felt so let down by a restaurant, not that it was *that* terrible, it’s just I’ve been building this place up in my head, only to leave so terribly broken-hearted. Everything was just sub-par. Not the equivalent to a «delicious escape with a dashing young carny gentleman with funnel cake shooting from every orifice» that I was expecting… Thankfully we didn’t have a problem with wait time or service as seems to be the common complaint, it was surprisingly pretty dead, so it seems we came at a prime time for quality right? Pfh. We ordered the: Fryinstein Monster in Cornbread Batter(It was so greasy that the batter was mushy, it was almost inedible, and for a girl who LOVES just about any fried junk food, this is saying a lot. One of the meats, not sure which one, was like rubber, and some parts were under cooked in the batter) Boiled Peanuts(VERY bland) French fries(Kinda soggy and found lacking) Mac & Cheese(It was just okay, greasy and typical) Vegan Chili(Again, just okay, but with a consistency like canned day old chili that’s been left sitting out) My boyfriend only had a few bites of his chili before throwing in the towel and just wanting to eat somewhere else, I am almost always happy and content with any place I try, so I am really surprised by my reaction as well. Now, all that aside, the Siracha Milkshake was one of the best milkshakes I EVER put in my mouth! I will come back to this place for the milkshakes maybe, but not for the food.(Unless of course, I caught the cook on the off chance his circus monkeys did all his business, then I might try again.)
