I swear I love this place! Definitely not stuffy or pretentious! I had the fried oysters(which I miss terribly now that I have moved from Mt. P to Raleigh) which were incredible, along with fried green tomatoes(yum) and collards(well, I felt like I HAD to get something healthy that wasn’t fried). Hush puppies were too good, too! My cousin and my husband each had the fried oyster/fried green tomatoe/bacon po boy(REALLY??) and they both finished them off! You better bring your appetite when you come here!

Ridiculously good! Fried shrimp and flounder. Portions are awesome! Do not get an appetizer because they are just as delicious and huge and you will not be able to finish everything. On top of all that the hush puppies were incredible!

Very cool little dive Seafood spot! Very fresh. The Mac n cheese, hush puppies and onion rings were great too. Very reasonable prices. Get your fresh catch cooked SeeWee style!

We hadn’t been here in years until this weekend and now I’m reminded why. I don’t think it takes much to fry up food to make it taste good. But, to know how to season and prepare fresh, whole foods, takes some doing. I had the she crab soup and peel & eat shrimp. My husband had fried oysters and we got a burger for our toddler grandson. It was OK at best and a whopping $ 60. Next time, we will just head downtown

I have never in my life had a worst experience at a restaurant. It was disgustingly dirty. Cockroaches were everywhere. And our waitress was so rude and condescending. I’m pretty sure she was the owner of the restaurant. She was much older with white hair — looked like she was in charge. She came over, rudely rolled her eyes at me and my mother, and condescendingly said if I didn’t want cockroaches crawling on me, I shouldn’t have moved to the south. After she gave us our drinks and took our order, she never came back and saw us again. To make matters worst, she sat at the table beside us and drank wine with her girlfriends while we waited for an appetizer that never arrived. She literally sat and put her feet up while we just stared at her, waiting to ask for water. When the food FINALLY(25 minutes later) arrived, the order was wrong and the food was disgusting. I’ve never tasted anything more unpleasant. My mother and I didn’t eat a single thing and then were still charged anyways. I would absolutely never ever recommend this place to anyone. Unless you want rude waitresses who couldn’t care less about your business or feelings. I felt so insulted by the(assumed) owner and hope she seriously reconsiders how she treats people. Absolutely awful. Don’t go. You’ll regret it.

Whenever I have out of town guest here looking to go out for fresh quality seafood along with Southern staples, I take them the extra miles up 17 to See Wee in Awendaw. I’ve done this numerous times and have always had a 4 to 5 start experience. Unfortunately this weekend it was a disappointment so I have to go with a 3. I always order a two way combo See Wee style(old bay, garlic, lemon, and sherry) This visit I decided to switch out shrimp for flounder, always have to have scallops, and picked mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes, and collards for my sides. Starting with the seafood, the See Wee style was non-existent. I couldn’t detect any of the four ingredients. Once I doctored the seafood up with lemon and S&P, the scallops were good. The flounder was over cooked and dry so I didn’t eat but a couple of bites. Now onto the sides. The collards were bad. I took one bite and couldn’t believe the taste. No seasoning and almost tasted dirty.(If that makes any sense!!) I let other’s try them and the consensus from the other local Southerners with me agreed. After adding S&P and hot sauce it helped, but not enough to eat too many more bites. The green tomato was good but the fried part was not completed. They were limp and sad looking since they were under fried. The mac and cheese was fine but again, needed seasoning. I always switch my sides up so maybe it was just a bad night for the three I picked b/c other’s in the party enjoyed theirs.(I did have a couple fried okra and they were good!!) When it was time to get checks we had five. I know a couple people had to get corrections made which is not uncommon with big parties. Unfortunately I didn’t see our check and didn’t know until we got to the car and Mike told me he paid for 7 beers, 2 more then what we had! Since It really is normally a great place for fresh and southern without breaking the bank, I’ll definitely still take people down here. Everyone has off nights so the good out weights the bad in my book! :)

My husband and I pass this place every time was drive to Charlston. I have always wanted to stop and yesterday we finally did. We walked in not knowing what to expect. A sign said please wait to be seated then I heard a yell«table for 2»? A woman across the room was flagging us down. We were seated, given menu’s and a basket of hush puppies, which were hot and delicious. My husband got fried shrimp, green fried tomato and cole slaw, he loved it. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and onion rings which were both awesome. We did not have desert but it was all homemade and look great. Maybe next time.

What a fun place to eat. The fried shrimp, the clams, really everything we had are up there with the best around town. Combine the great food with the rustic general store feel and it’s a winning combo. Plus, kids seem to love this place too.

Wish I could do half stars. I would do 3.5. I wanted to like it more — I really did. Décor was like grandma’s house out in the country so cozy. The history of the place is really neat. Free shush puppies were a bonus. I got the grouper nuggets. There were three. That’s it. But they were good — I got them grilled with Old Bay seasoning. For sides, I got the squash. It was steamed beyond recognition and not seasoned at all. One but mooshy pile. Mac and cheese was good; not the best I’ve had, but good. Hubby got seafood platter. Again, all was good; not great, but portions medium. The best was the dessert. Ladies in the neighborhood make the desserts and bring them in. We had French silk pie and coconut cake. Delish! The coconut cake had a 7-minute frosting like my mom used to make. Brought back the memories as I used to request it for my birthday every year. Warning: if it’s hot outside, it will be only about 10 degrees less inside, especially in the far back room. The front room is cooler.

If you want great low country seafood in a authenic low country atmosphere, See Wee is the place. Im from Florida and grew up on the gulf eating seafood and See Wee is as good if not better than any seafood I have ever eaten. If you come to Charleston you shouldnt miss trying See Wee. I recommend anything that is fresh.

I consider myself a foodie. I have a cooking page and I look for places as a consumer and report what I think on my page and other social media avenues. I have passed this place MANY times on my way to Myrtle Beach and never thought of stopping. Not sure why other than it may not look grand from the outside. I decided to give this place a try Wednesday(6÷10÷15). This is my kind of place. I consider it a hole in the wall place. It is a 45 minute drive for me but worth the drive in my opinion. Bill for 2 people will run about $ 50 average, but again, I promise it’s worth it. The food is very well prepared and tasty. Very low key atmosphere. Daily special listed on their board. Nice staff. I used to drive to Myrtle Beach just to get decent seafood because there is nothing, in my opinion, worth eating and/or fighting the tourist crowds for in the Charleston area. I will no longer go MB. Why should I when I an get great tasting food much closer? If you don’t care for this place, all I can say is wonderful! Less people that know of SeeWee the better. Sometimes when a place becomes popular things go downhill. I would hate to see this place change.

Delicious shrimp, oysters fried eggplant and red rice. I have eaten here many times with a group of 10 – 12 and everyone enjoyed their dinner. But it is even better when the cook prepares for a smaller party. The vegetables are just as fresh and delicious as the seafood.

Stopped for lunch on my way from Myrtle Beach to Florida. Learned about this little tucked away place from America’s Test Kitchen’s Instagram account! Social media at its finest. Everything was delicious and fresh tasting. Only missing a little flavor in the collard greens and fried fish. The free hush puppies were the best! I also tried fried green tomatoes for the first time and was delighted. Since I came on a weekday right as they opened it wasn’t too crowded and everything was prompt. It’s an old place, with an old vibe that’s perfect for low country South Carolina. Only disappointment was that they didn’t have any more coconut cake and by the time I went to order the carrot cake someone had just took the last piece. Oh well… I had so much food I felt too full anyway. Would definitely recommend stopping by for some good eats if you’re ever passing through SC!

Found this little gem after walking the trails in the national forest. While it may look a bit rundown on the outside, it’s fun and kitschy inside was pleasant and inviting. It’s a lot of home cooked food, fresh seafood and fried deliciousness. Hubby got the seafood lunch plate and I ordered the grouper nuggets. Both were tasty– but it’s hard to mess up fried. The free hushpuppies that came before the meal were a nice touch and the cold beers helped to wash them down. I did experience a little bit of sticker shock when we got the bill, but I guess seafood can cost you a little more. Maybe next time I won’t order that second beer…

No longer a best kept secret but always a fine meal. Can beat a good meat and three. The fried oyster platter was humongous and the butter beans, sweet potato casserole, and fried okra were all excellent. Definitely one of our favorite places to go for a laid back atmosphere and a great meal.

See Wee! SeeWee! SeaWee? No, I mostly keep west of the Ashley River. But a co-worker wanted to meet at SeeWee, so we braved it. After you pass Wando High, there’s not much of Mt. Pleasant left along 17. Drive a few more miles until you see a sign for SeeWee — 1.2 miles ahead. Get ready to stop, because by my odometer it was a scant 1 mile ahead on the left. You may notice immediately that the bathrooms are outside. I dined with women, and they looked upon this with suspicion, but the report came back that this arrangement was fine. See Wee used to be a grocery, apparently. Now it is some kind of local roadside fried food heaven. We tried fried shrimp and fish, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, and a fried softshell crab. All were exceptional, and exceptionally fried(in a good way). Our server apologized for their limited selection of about five desserts. No problem. We ordered the banana pudding and something called death by chocolate. I don’t usually associate food and death, but I’m convinced. The banana pudding was really good too, with vanilla wafers and banana slices. On the inside, this just looks like a roadside restaurant. Checkered plastic tablecloths, rustic interior, run-down ambiance. I loved it, and if I wasn’t moving to the big bad north soon, would even make another trip through Mt. P to get my fried food on again.

I have lived down the street from here for 5 years and never made it in. I have always heard it was great, but for some reason it was never on my radar when thinking of where to go for dinner. I was looking for Seafood last week and remembered Seewee… decision made. The atmosphere inside is similar to an old timey general store or your grandmothers house. Pretty sure those two things are the same… I was a bit surprised at the prices being on the higher side, but the quantity and quality of food is worth it so don’t fret. To start the party, they bring over a basket of fresh complimentary hush puppies that are nice and warm. They were excellent. I wanted to ask for more, but didn’t want to be greedy or spoil my meal on eating 15 hush puppies beforehand. I labored on what to order wanting to try everything on the menu and decided on one of the daily specials — Pan fried grouper and garlic shrimp. The shrimp was a little heavy on the garlic. I enjoyed my friend’s fried shrimp better but, the grouper was phenomenal and that extra garlic contributed to the sauce that I soaked up with the grouper so it’s still a win. Of the sides I tried, the fried eggplant was the surprise knockout. The batter is light and the eggplant is cut into thick cubes… fantastic. The mac and cheese was great but the mashed potatoes and gravy were so so. Not bad, nothing special either. They have tons of old school sodas in glass bottles as well. One of my favorite brands too — Stewarts. I went with an Orange Cream that is basically a combo of cream soda and orange soda. The result of this soda copulation is a soda that tastes like a Creamsicle. There were tons of pies and cakes to choose from for dessert but after clearing our giant plates, there was no room left in the inn. Maybe next time, because there will definitely be a next time.
