This place never disappoints. If you are going for the first time, I strongly recommend the regular pa jeon(scallion pancake), a small gimbap(resembles a sushi roll with cooked fillings, sesame oil seasoning), and the bibimbap(rice bowl with toppings). The gimbap and bibimbap can be made with tofu for vegetarians, which is what I always order. So good. The pa jeon is crunchy on the outside and almost custard-y on the inside… highly recommended. Don’t be afraid to eat the banchan on its own or use the red pepper seasonings on the tables, they are much less spicy than they appear. Service is always great, and drinks are refilled on time. The prices might seem high at first glance, but figure in the large portion sizes and accompanying banchan, you are almost guaranteed to go home with leftovers. The food is delicious and so beyond having to justify cost. I have dreams about the cabbage kimchi, pa jeon and bibimbap. No dessert here, but you won’t have room for it anyway. Stop by if you are driving through, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Place looks shady but don’t let that deter you! I always get the Bi Bim Bap meal — it’s so, so yummy. And healthy — not soaked in grease, fresh veggies. Scallion pancakes are amazing too. It’s a bit pricey for takeout; almost $ 30 for two takeout meals… sheesh. But it’s clearly worth it because I go back on a monthly basis!

I don’t know why ppl give 5 stars to this restaurant but maybe around here this is the best you can get. The food is the worst Korean food ihave ever had! Salty burnt and beef I ate tastes like beef jerky

A hidden gem in Ayer, MA. Quick, well priced lunch service. Great service and fascistic Korean food. Try the bi bim bap if you’re unsure where to start.

Okay… Ive been casing this joint for 2 years and FINALLY got a crew together to hit this joint up… Reluctantly… Situation: Mysterious«oriental» restaurant in the middle of no where mid-west mass, piques interest of infrequent visitor to ayer, MA Background: the restaurant is called woo jung which is obviously Korean. Combined with the proximity to the now closed military base Ft. Devens and the fact that it is still in business means either it is an expired remnant hanging in to loyal but taste bud dead old clientele, OR it is REALLY good because its survived whitesville USA after the military presence evacuated… Assessment: this was the real shizz… Omg… Smelled like my mom’s kitchen… The food wasn’t as spicy as i normally like but im getting old anyway and it was super tasty. Decent offering of banchan(appetizer side dishes). THEBESTKIMCHIPANJUN I’ve had since leaving home. I don’t know if most people like their kimchi pancakes wet or something, but these were nice and crispy. Someone left an earlier comment about it being the same price as an entrée but they serve you an entrée so no complaints there. Everything is about $ 10 – 16 so expect to spend a bit, i mean I’ve never had korean below this price range soo… Ya. We also had the gang pooni,(tempura chicken), beef and scallion soup(yuke jaang) and i had kimchi tchigae(kimchi soup). The menu is very americanized but the food is legit. now I’m not saying it is like eating at a restaurant in Seoul, but it was home cooking like i grew up with. Recommendations: Eat here if you’re out in the lonely woods of ayer ma. Take a road trip. If you’re going on the weekend make a reservation because they are packed! They are also open for lunch so if you live/work in the area eat here. Basically just eat here… Ps best Korean I’ve had in the state of Massachusetts.

Fantastic food! It was the best Bi Bam Bop I have ever had. Super fresh and very flavorful. Another time I got the bulgogi: also very tasty. I have heard many people say this is one of the best Korean restaurants in the state. Cannot disagree.

Consistent superior korean food. Great assorted banchan, wonderful main courses. Don’t be fooled by the low key exterior, the food here is as good as it gets.

My wife recently went with a couple of co-workers based off the reviews she saw on Unilocal and we planned a lunch date soon thereafter. I’m going to be honest with you, driving up to this place, you’re probably going to ask yourself why am I going there. The ambiance itself doesn’t offer all that much either. However, the food and wait staff make this place what it is. They put a whole lot of TLC into their food and it shows. Truth be told I’ve never had true Korean until my visit to Woo Jung, but the Chicken Stir Fry was out of this world and the accompanied veggies that come with any order made for a very memorable experience. Woo Jung is definitely a place where you’ll say to yourself a week later, I need more of it. Without question a hidden gem and well worth the drive to get some good eats.

I still love this place, the food is on point. But it’s now nearly $ 24 dollars for an order of bulgogi with rice. I understand the price of beef has gone up, and the portions are hefty, but yikes. I definitely don’t frequent as much as I used to, definitely save it for a treat every once in a while!

WOW. Such a hidden gem. Went here on a recommendation from a coworker for an after apple picking lunch, and so happy we went here. There are no Korean places near where I live so to find one was in itself an exciting factor. Do not let appearances fool you, this place is no glitz and glamour but the food speaks for itself, no gimmicks needed. We got here right when they opened and immediately every table was full soon after, a very good sign. Loved the tea and the prompt service with water for us, since we had just been apple picking for hours. The server gave us a perfect amount of time to chose what we wanted and did not hover. We chose the Pa Jun(Scallion Pancakes) for an appetizer. I chose the Bi Bim Bap(#23) and my boyfriend chose the Kim Chi Ge Gi(#26). I was then served super fresh and light Egg Drop Soup. You can mess up Egg Drop so easy, but they did it so well. Light, fresh, and a nice bite from the scallions. Also the Kim Chi, spicy pickled Cucumbers?(maybe zucchini?) And I am unsure what the other veggie was, some sort of yummy root veggie in a spicy sauce were so so good. When the Scallion Pancakes came out I was so pleased to see FULLPIECESOFSCALLION in them! Done so well and the taste was perfect. Then came our entrees and we were both so pleased. The flavors in both were perfect and I couldn’t ask for better quality. The portions are big and worth the money. I am so happy I am able to relive it today for my lunch for leftovers! Do not pass this place by if you are in the area, give it a try, totally worth it!

I have been going here since I was a little girl and their food is delicious, authentic and is always the same. They are very pricey though otherwise I would give them 5 stars. Try the bulgogi or tempura chicken. Staff will work with you to explain the menu. Delicious and large portions!

Super Fresh! Super Good! I ate here while in Devens, MA for work. I was the first one in the door for lunch on Saturday and when I left 45 minutes later — they were packed! I started with the Yako Man Doo(Gyoza) and they were very good. I prefer my steam-fried, but these were tasty despite being crispy fried. Then I ordered the Bi Bim Bab with Fried Rice. The combination of the beef bulgogi meat, fresh vegetables(sprouts, carrots, spinach, and zuchini), and the over-easy fried egg, all on top of korean fried rice was fabulous. The flavors were well matched and really tasty. The meal came with all the traditional Korean sides, Kimchi(Korean and«American»), picked sprouts, cucumber and radish, all of which were crisp, lightly acidic and delicious. The meal also came with egg-drop soup which was multiples of 10-times better than any egg-drop soup I’ve ever had. It was a light broth, with what seemed to be only the egg whites and it was amazing; I didn’t even feel the need to add chile oil or soy sauce to it! I was so full and content when I left the restaurant that I only wanted to go to sleep… too bad I still had 5 hours of work to do!

This place is not much to look at but has some of the best korean food I’ve had anywhere in New England. I’ve explored the menu in the past but when I go here I get the Bi Bim Bab and am always extremely happy. Coupled with the soup and the assortment of veggies and kimchee is one of the things I like most. This is a constant here. I never feel like I want to take a nap after eating this for lunch or feel as if my body hates me. Its pretty clean eating and is a good balance of veggies, carbs, proteins. I give this place 5 stars on their food alone. If they were to have alcohol this would be a nice perk but they do allow you to bring in alcohol and provide glasses if that is what you want to do. BYOB is always more work but an option. I’ll keep going here any time I’m in the area.

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. It’s such a neat little place in the middle of central mass. I’m extremely lucky to have found it by accident but have been many times for takeout. The kimchee are phenomenal, and perfectly spiced — many varieties. If you go in and sit you’ll sit with soldiers from Devens, locals from Ayer, Harvard and Acton, and if you mention it to your friends they’ll know someone who has been and will say they want to go. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and the dishes are exactly as how I’ve had them overseas. Prices are great and dishes are served family style or wrapped up to go with enough for two people per order. I suggest the Yook Ke Jang — firm clear noodles with perfectly cooked vegetables, perfectly chewy beef and just the right amount of oil and spice. Amazing. I’m just so lucky to live down the street! This place is one of the best in the area! We recently visited Woo Jung; a family-owned Korean joint in Ayer, MA. The restaurant is small, but clean. The service is prompt and friendly. The kimchi is awesome! It is all fresh and delicious. The sweet and sour cabbage has always been our favorite. For appetizers, we ordered the tempura-battered honey chicken. The chicken was fried perfectly, and it is not too sweet. The scallion pancakes are also delicious. For an entrée, our favorite is the bibimbap. The marinated meat is super flavorful, and when combined with fresh veggies, rice, and chili sauce, it is a combination to die for. Good-sized portions make it a great value. This place seems to do well in the take-out business. This honestly is one of the best places in the area, and we will continue to go again and again!

Woo Jung is by far my favorite restaurant. Everything is awesome, and everyone is super nice. My favorite foods(please excuse terrible spelling): Bulgogi Yaki man do Kimbap The kimchi they have is also awesome, I could eat just that as a meal and be happy. Definitely check this place out of you have any interest in trying Korean food, or just want to try something new.

I love Woo Jung, but I got TOTALLY blindsided by the prices the other day. My parents went out for dinner so I had to fend for myself in the kitchen. So I ordered takeout. I read about the delicious bulgo gi and scallion pancakes so that sounded like a decent meal. Called and made the order no problem, though they didn’t tell me the price. When I walked in to pick up the order they told me it would be $ 31.90— I got confused and asked«for Andrea?» I had only ordered the appetizer and one meal item so I was thinking $ 18 – 22 range. Turns out the bulgo gi is $ 18.95 and the scallion pancakes are $ 12.95. Now, the portions are huge, which is a bit unnecessary, but it still seems steep — especially for Ayer. I have no qualms about the quality of the food, but I wouldn’t do take out again — at least not for one. One picture on Unilocal shows the menu saying the bulgo gi is $ 11.00 which is why I figured it would cost less. Buuuuut apparently the price of it has increased 85% over the past 3 years.

A hidden gem in the middle of no where! If it wasn’t for a trip to Nashoba, I wouldn’t even step foot in Ayer! A small restaurant that’s been around for over 20 years so I heard. I’ve been here once before for a reason I don’t remember sometime within the past 10 years. The setup looks the same as memory served. Because it was frigid boarding at Nashoba on the coldest weekend this year, I wanted something spicy for dinner. Jam Bong was calling my name! I asked them to make it extra spicy. Guess what they did to fulfill my request? The dried Chinese chili peppers. If I knew, I would tell them to save it for someone else. Not that it’s too spicy; but rather, I’m immune to their potency. Other than that, this spicy seafood noodle soup was perfect for the occasion! For the table, we had kimchi pancake to go along with the banchan. It’s very different from the pancakes in the city(Boston, Cambridge, Somerville). It was cut into rectangles and much crispier. Totally different texture. As for the banchan, YUM! All the spicy hot was perfect for the weather and my soaking wet butt! I still feel bad for making their seat soaking wet. Apparently, Burton dry fit isn’t that dry!
