We were on our way to dinner in San Leon when I saw this beautiful building with a sign that said«RESALE». This is one word that gets my attention every single time! We decided to stop on our way out if they were still open, and as our luck would have it they were! We went inside and noticed they have a combination of used and new items(Mostly used, but they had some gorgeous windchimes, fishing and crabbing supplies that were new). They were having a sale, $ 5 a bag up to 8 items in each. It excluded a couple tag colors, but I was still able to find some nice blouses for my mom, cheap! I was super impressed with the quality of what I bought. Mostly name brand, in «like new» condition. They had a great assortment of clothes, sized, selection. They also had lots of books and knick knacks. The prices(of items that weren’t on sale) for clothes reflected the name brands so some were a little higher than what I would expect to pay for used clothing, but still less than I’ve seen at Goodwill stores. I asked if the proceeds from sales benefited some sort of charity. The lady was very kind and told me about the many ways the money is used. I’ll list some that I can remember… They have parenting classes to teach new parents to be good parents, and the new parents earn«baby bucks» for taking the classes that they can use to buy clothes or diapers. Another lady took us upstairs to see where the classes are held, it was very nice! They also have a medical clinic two times a month. She said they have two doctors and a nurse practitioner volunteer their time. They had an office and rooms upstairs that were actual medical exam rooms! Phenomenal! They also had a free GED class and food pantry, but I don’t remember the details about those. I was just very impressed with the amount of services they are able to provide with the resources from a resale shop! Oh I’m sure they also get donations from the community churches and other sources but they are obviously good stewards of what is given to them. Even though we don’t live anywhere near this area or have a personal need for services they offer, we will make sure to visit when we are down that way to look for some bargains. We found about $ 15 worth of items to buy and I was glad to hand over my money knowing I had gotten a good deal and the money was going to be well used! OH One final bonus, because my husband is over 55 he received a 25% Seniors Discount(which thrilled us both but not in the same sense of «thrilled»). The seniors discount, I believe, is every day. I would highly recommend you stop by and check it out, maybe score you some bargains too!
