Best Chinese place in the world. Nothing can compare. Big helpings, good prices. Haven’t found anything I didn’t like.

China King isn’t your typical«Thumb» restaurant. I don’t live in the thumb, but my grandma has treated me to meals here every once in a while when I visit her ever since I was a little girl. it’s got a big buffet until 2pm, great prices, great service, and *just because* the food isn’t the best, doesn’t mean it’s bad. Disregard the other reviews– The food is worth a try! For orange chicken lovers: They don’t have orange chicken :( Try the general tsaos!

I went in here hoping for a flavorful experience, but left wanting more. The typical breaded stuff, which you could tell was battered and deep fried here, was just lacking seasonings of any kind. Their chicken had zero seasoning, and the batter was completely bland. It wasn’t nasty, just had zero flavor. The egg rolls are on the bland side as well. Really everything was bland. I do not think I would return to this place. On a good note, one younger gentleman made sure the place was really clean. He was keeping the tables and chairs wiped down, and was doing an excellent job. When is the last time you went into a place and actually watched someone wipe the chairs down? I mean the whole chair. And not just because someone spilled something. He really had pride in his job. Thank you, sir!

The yum yum sauce was like water with some chunks in it. They do give you a lot for your money, this is a ok spot for a small town

The most overpriced and disgusting chinese food I have ever experienced. Anyone who thinks this is anywhere close to be even remotely good perhaps has only this to go on by way of chinese… which is unfortunate. I had a set meal of fried rice with shrimp, chicken, and vegetables… also included soup and eggroll. The soup(chicken noodle) was basically a watered down sodium broth with noodles that were insanely long and had to attempt to cut to even try. 3 spoonfuls was stretching it. The eggroll was just deep fried as much as possible and the insides were meh. My main dish was even more tragic. The rice looked like the brown beef rice packets you get at grocery stores, the veggies looked somewhat fresh and colorful(did eat all the broccoli) however it was all marinating in a watery looking sauce. As I started to eat the shrimp and veggies I realized the sauce seemed to be from the shrimp being thawed, they tasted beyond horrible and clearly were thawed just before serving. The ice tea had a very smoky flavor to it. Just all around tragic and an absolute rip off at a little over $ 15 for one person. I have traveled extensively through the US and Europe and was visiting a friend here. I feel for the people in the town of Bad Axe being ripped off by such horrible chinese food; and it was very busy.

Hands down, the WORST Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life. I’m now convinced there is absolutely no good Chinese food in the thumb at all. There is nothing on the menu under $ 11.45. We chose the buffet. My husband described hus chicken and rice soup as something that would only be appropriate to serve in prison. It was chicken, rice, and water. No seasonings, no veggies. Everything was absolutely bland and tasteless. $ 37.31 for 2 adults and 2 kids, we wished we had went ANYWHEREELSE, or starved until we got home(45 minutes). When I paid, I was asked how the food was. I told her«Honestly, this was the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life». She looked up and asked really? Umm, yes. Yes it was. No apology or anything. She just swiped my card and told me to have a good night. I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy.

Worst Chinese ever. Dripping with«sweet and sour sauce». Everything we ordered had the same sauce. Ordered chow mein noodles and literally had a cup full of dried deep fried chow mein noodles, straight from a bag. Really? Chicken from sweet and sour chicken was overlooked and very chewy. Expected more when everything on the menu cost 11.95. Won’t be back and wish I could give zero stars.

I’ve gone to this establishment since I was very young. The people are always so welcoming and it’s always well kept and clean! The food is fabulous and the service is fast! I always leave there happily full. I have since moved to another state with my husband and we have yet to find a place as good as this one. Every time we come back home we go here with our family for dinner! I will be a fan and customer as long as they’re in business!!! Fantastic all around!

Was up here for work three days and I was worried that the Chinese food was mediocre since you had to travel very far to get Asian food. After working 16 hours I got myself a coup large cans of Miller Lite and headed over to the China King who I found on my 6 yr old Garmin without updates didn’t know if this place was still around. I walked in at 9pm just before closing and order Pork Fried Rice(quart)and Szechuan Chicken combo. I sat by the kitchen door and was heard them talking in our native tongue. Now I’ve been a huge fan of the NYCstyle Fukien run Chinese restaurants that seem to be popping up the last 20 or so years all over. My family had owned Cantonese restaurants in the last 40 years in Detroit Metro Area so I know what good chinese is. For this Cantonese style I would give it a 7 out of ten. The next day i came back and tried their buffet. I was please that the Almond Chicken was so thick and that the light Almond Chicken gravy was not the roux based Egg Foo Young Gravy that some places now use on Almond Chicken. I liked it so much I ordered some to go and drive it 100 mile back home. The Sesame(less) chicken on the buffet was good too. Their noodles on the buffet was limp and soggy, it had asian flavor but looked curiously non Asian noodles. I would go there again if in the area.

We were able to get some food to go this last weekend and it was superb. We ordered, almond Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Lo Mein and Crab Rangoons. All the food was hot and tasted fresh. Portions were huge and very satisfying. I dont make it to Bad Axe to often but when I do this is a must have. I will be back!

I’ve been a fan of China King for over 15 years. This restaurant has stood the test of time. Portions are ample, food is fresh. The taste and preparation are the most consistent I’ve ever experienced. The Almond Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Gai Kow, Sesame Chicken… Well, everything is great. Their soups are the best. Their buffets are kept fresh and hot. Service is fast and friendly. I could get into the West Coast Chinese food vs. Mid-Western Chinese food, and how you’re comparing apples to oranges there(I’ve lived on the West Coast, too.), but it really isn’t worth your time. China King is a great place is, and it stands on its own. It’s survived being in a small, mostly caucasian area — the economic downturn, as well. So, that should speak for itself. Ask yourself what restaurants you know that have been open the last 20 years, same owners, same location… China King has, they definitely know what they’re doing.

Before I moved to an actual city this was like the best Chinese food I’d ever had. But if you’ve ever escaped the tundra of Huron County, you’ll be largely unimpressed.

I always compare Chinese restaurants and this to me is among the best in Michigan You can park out back or in front easy access. Go for their Buffet esp. Lunch I enjoy their Beef and Broccoli fried rice and hot tea. What a gem of a place in Bad Axe!! wish they were open 7 days a week.

This little place is a gem in bad axe. Whenever I’m home, this is one of the places I need to go to. Their buffet, far from being low quality, is still great value. Do yourself a favor and get that. Their Chinese food is absolutely delicious and you will love it. All of my friends who grew up here agree.

Absolute best Chinese food! I’ve eaten at many Chinese restaurants in many cities in Michigan and nothing compares to the quality here. It is Bad Axe, so the restaurant itself isn’t the prettiest, but its well worth the drive if you’re in eastern Michigan. My friends and I go out of our way to come here!

Great Mongolian beef and the vegetables always taste great in the sauce. I think they just buy frozen egg rolls they taste good though. I didn’t care for their egg drop soup it was too thick for my liking. The food is very good and you get large portions. My wife likes their sweet and sour chicken. The chicken is definitely done from scratch. The inside is dated, chairs are crummy banquet chairs and tables are from the 80’s. Service was okay. I think they should try to class up the look and it could start by making the staff follow a dress code.

This is as cosmopolitan as it gets in Bad Axe. Decent Chinese food with excellent service. Reasonably priced and its smoke free. Try the weekend lunch buffet.
