Custard was full of ice and grainy. Service was unfriendly. Would never stop here again.

Ordered a ham sandwich that resulted in food poisoning. Feel you meat and eat at your own risk here… better yet don’t.

$ 10 minimum to use your credit card … which seems a little unnecessary this day in age. Also, seems like a lot to get my two small kids a simple scoop of custard each. As a previous reviewer stated: too many good ice creameries and custard spots in DC to bother with this place! The owner mocked me for tipping his employee nicely after complaining about their $ 10 minimum for credit cards. Really?! Folks, pass this place by another great ice cream shop is less than a block away!

I went there for a cup of coffee this morning because it looked like a cute coffee shop. The service was good and so was the coffee. The bakery looked great too. I’d go back.

Bottom line … Don’t stop here. There are better places for ice cream /custard in Door County. This place will be out of business soon.

We walked into this place for frozen custard, a latte and a mocha. For about 5 minutes or so, there wasn’t anyone at the front and we only saw a lady in the kitchen making sandwiches for the person who was in line ahead of us. We finally ordered and the lady making the sandwiches didn’t seem to know what she was doing. We asked how much the pint of frozen custard was and she didn’t know so she had to ring it up on the register to look it up. We asked her what kind of flavors they have and she again was unsure, then finally told us of the only three flavors. We ordered 2 pints and she gave it to us without lids, which we had to ask for. She proceeded to make the mocha and was struggling with the machine. Since that took another 5 minutes, we decided not to wait for the latte. We also asked for sprinkles and she proceeded to help the next customers in line and told us to wait a minute. She then went in the back and we decided to just walk out without the sprinkles. Horrible service. Never returning to this place on our next visit to this town.

WOW, if only NO stars were an option… 1 star seems much too«generous»! This was such a rip off, I was compelled to write my first online review… I ordered a small Chocolate Custard cone. The employee/owner? handed me a very diminutive«scoop»… I thought hmmmm, pretty small for $ 3.50! Oh well, maybe its great custard… Then I took my first bite and noticed that she didn’t even give me an actual scoop. It was more like a curl of custard. Basically a hollow dome on a cone… So I show the small hollow curl to the woman thinking she would certainly apologize and give me a real scoop… NOPE! She simply replied«oh well that’s a scoop»… What… really? So I ate the little curl of «custard» which tasted more like store bought ice cream in a couple bites, and threw away my empty cone which had NO «custard» in it… Don’t WASTE your Money here!

We were looking for some good coffee,(something that didn’t taste like water) and already had struck out multiple times in the door county area. Needless to say we did not find it here either! No positive comments to say unfortunately.

This place drew me in because of the silly name. I don’t quite get it, but it was attention-grabbing. To me, there is one purpose to a frozen custard shop, and that’s to sell good frozen custard and its accompaniments(if applicable). The waffle cones looked too big, so I got a cake cone of the flavor of the day, which happened to be vanilla custard with Reece’s PB cups in it. My hubby also got a cake cone, but his with chocolate custard. The cones were extremely stale and the chocolate custard was grainy. I liked my ice cream well enough, but out of the three things we got(flavor of the day-custard, chocolate custard, and cones), two of the things(chocolate custard and cones) were not good. That’s only 30% good, which translates to less than 2 out of 5(40%) stars, but the service was friendly, so I rounded up. Also, it was expensive. Over $ 7 for two small cones.

This place just doesn’t get it. And I am kicking myself for giving them a second chance. The first time we went here was a year ago. I didn’t get anything that time, but my wife did and she wasn’t thrilled with it AND remarked that it was quite expensive. This latest vacation, I promised my daughter we’d go for ice cream together one night. It was the only place I could think of on the«quiet side» of the peninsula(although I came to realize there is a much better place just down the road)… The consistency of our shakes was just a bit thicker than normal milk. I am pretty sure the woman working had no clue how to make a shake at all. It was incredibly disappointing. Now I know why there wasn’t anybody else in this place at 8:00PM on a summer night. I am appalled that they can remain in business to be brutally honest. I hate to bash a business on Unilocal like this, but I feel like others need to know how disappointing this place is. Seriously, go a block south and you’ll be a lot happier.

Can’t speak to the quality of the custard, hopefully it’s great. We stopped by for three quick sandwiches and were so appalled by the quality of what we were served that we could not bring ourselves to even eat half of it. Do you know that sixth sense that tells you not to finish something because it might make you sick? The quality of the meat was extremely low. You could wring water out of the turkey, which is unnatural and unappetizing. The rest of the sandwich was food service standard, except for the bread-which was very sub par.

Good custard. Not on par with say leon’s or not licked yet, but good custard. I had the cherry sundae. It had lots of door county cherries, but no real like cherry sauce. In addition to the cherries, it would be nice if there was some sort of sauce, not just a bunch of free floating cherries. Or maybe a chocolate sauce would be good on this too. I may have to go back to try one of their custard coffee creations!

first of all, i don’t get the name. stan? no, it really is stan. and that makes no sense. also, the sign was a giant teacup, even more confusing. second of all, the custard wasn’t as good as at not licked yet. third of all, nothing could live up to the radness of the dragonfly gift shop, where i had just been. still, it was good enough. i mean, i ate all of mine.
