My wife and I drove the Summer 2013(Aug 9 – 11) Studio Tour on Sat, Aug 10. We visit many«art» fairs but rarely find anything unique or exciting among the many booths lined up along a city street or in a park, and leave disappointed. The Bainbridge Island Studio Tour was different — we actually found something that excited both of us and brought it home. The fair took place at 6 different residences around the island, each with a few booths. Unlike usual fairs with a large number of booths concentrated in a singe area – many selling the same stuff – the dispersed nature of the Bainbridge Island Studio Tour lends a more intimate, uncrowded, and relaxed atmosphere. The studio locations were each surrounded by nature and felt peaceful. And we found several unique pieces of art! Water and cookies were available free at each location. The signposts along the road that signaled the tour route were quite clear – we didn’t get lost as we travelled among the six locations. We were able to complete the circuit in about 90 minutes, seeing all booths and talking to a couple of the artists. I think we were probably faster than most people. TIP — at your first stop pick up a brochure, as it contains a simple map highlighting the roads between the studio locations.
