Cuts Above Barber Shop

The best! Excellent haircut and good updates on local ‘happenings’. I moved (to Bainbridge Island) last year and selected Anna to be my barber. She’s a fine person and a wonderful conversationalist. Plus, she knows all the stuff going on around the Island AND Seattle.
About the one star guy from LA. .. poor Bob P. Hopefully, he gets the message to ‘lighten up’ a bit and maybe get his haircut before he leaves LA. Island life is cool, relaxed and fun!

Anna has been doing a nice job for years. My 3 boys and I have gone to this one chair men’s shop for over 15 years. Used by locals as well as tourists coming off the ferry. You will get a nice cut — get caught up on local news to boot.

Apparently, being a regular is a necessity at Cuts Above. I walked to in get quick trim, and the lady informed me that she was just wrapping up and would be with me just as soon as she was done. Sounds great to me! Shortly after I sat down, someone named «Jack» showed up (someone she obviously knew), and struck up a quick conversation from the waiting area, after which she told me «I’m going to cut his hair first. You can come back later.»
That’s how you fail to get business, and that’s how you lose my support. If you accept me as a walk-​in, then stick to it. Just because a regular walks in doesn’t mean you pull a 180 degree turn and cater to them.
No thanks, I’ll spend my money elsewhere. Learn to manage customer expectations.
Edit: Per Garret G’s suggesting that she only takes appointments, she was more than willing to cut my hair when I walked in and asked if she’d be able to take me, a walk-​in, for a hair cut. I don’t care if the guy had an appointment, she failed the moment she agreed to cut my hair. Managing a schedule is not that hard, and even Bainbridge people should be able to manage it.

Lots of regulars have stayed with Cuts Above for decades. She’s a great barber and a great person. If you want the inside scoop on local politics, business developments, or anything local, she knows it! The information alone is worth the price of a haircut!
Update: In response to the 1-​star review by Bob, it should be noted that she only does haircuts by appointment. Walk-​ins might be able to be squeezed in, but the Jack mentioned in the review probably had an appointment.

Just had a great haircut. Wasn’t rushed at all. The stylist showed a lot of interest in the thoughts I had regarding my cut and has a very pleasant personality as well. The shop has a lot of character. It’s obvious that they care a lot about the well being of their clients here.
