Firefly Salon

I do not recommend this salon. I went in with direct wishes to trim a minimum amount since i am growing my hair out. Instead, Todd decided to cut my hair with a ton of choppy layers and it is exactly the opposite haircut that I requested. I am really sad about this and I am not happy to post a negative review. But I feel compelled to share my experience. I will have to go someplace else to get this bad cut fixed.

I love this salon. Michelle Bostick is an amazing stylist – the first person I’ve ever worked with who really understands what I’m after (which happens to be something a little unusual) and then exceeds my expectations. She is SO talented – and gives the most amazing hair-​washing scalp massage that I’ve ever had. Everyone else at the salon is super friendly and pleasant. So grateful to have this fabulous establishment right on Bainbridge!

Bronwyn does a good job with coloring, but I miss my old colorist who gave more input and suggestions. Grade — B
Todd– 2 good haircuts, 1 haircut that was so bad I went to another salon and had it fixed. When you have 3 inches of length cut off and no one mentions anything… Its a bad haircut. Grade — C–
The biggest reason for my rating is while sitting in Todd’s chair getting my haircut and having to listen to him critique every person who walked down the street. It was a beautiful day with lots of foot traffic, Clothes, shoes, hair– all were remarked on and not in a nice manner. I finally said that I would never walk past his shop again and he didn’t get the message. Grade — F
Not a relaxing or fun experience, guess I am not the catty type.

I really wanted to like this place, largely because of the rave reviews I hear all over the island, from a wide range of people. I gave it more than one shot, but I have to say I left disappointed twice. It’s not necessarily because of my hair, either. The color was mediocre both times – not really what I wanted and asked for, but it looks fine (it’s just not exciting). The cut was fine, maybe even great, but I still left feeling disappointed. I think it’s largely because of the unfriendly attitude I recieved both times. The first time, I thought maybe it was just an off day. But the second time sealed it for me. Unfriendly, and at times, everyone just seemed bored. But, since I have to sit in the chair for 2 hours, I’d like an environment that is at least pleasant to be in, as well as professional and high quality. I’ll be looking elsewhere next time.

Walk in looking shaggy and walk out looking sporty — better than hours at the gym. Todd and Bronwyn are miracle workers.

I love this place. I have had my hair cut by both Bronwyn and Todd and have been more than happy with the results. The salon has a wonderful vibe of quirky and professional. Every hair cut I have recieved has been awesome due to their attention to detail and their ability to listen to what I really want.
