As an former East Coast Italian-American and a traveler to Italy many times, I am familiar with some of the best pizza in the world. We had both the Zena and the Prosciutto & Rucola(arugula) and they were both fantastic, as good as any we have had on the West Coast including San Francisco!

This place is OK. The biggest problem is that they are over priced. They charged me $ 20 for a drink and some pasta. Anywhere else it would have been $ 10-$ 15. The food was mediocre, and it took them forever to bring it to me.

I love their bake-at-home vegetable lasagna. I’ve had it twice now and the quality is excellent! I look forward to trying their other offerings.

Unassuming location and staff make this hidden gems food taste even better! Looking forward to in house seating coming soon but in the meantime it’s the best take out Italian I’ve had!

I’ve had the lasagna twice and it’s good, I’ll order it again!(Mine is better, but it’s a lot faster and easier to let them make it!) The people that work there are very nice and they have some nice Italian pantry staples for sale as well. I watched them make pizza in the new wood fired oven last time and really want to try that, they looked terrific. It’s off the beaten path but worth finding.

I cannot believe I forgot to write a review for this place! I love Via Rosa, and had the pleasure of visiting more than a year ago. My mom and I stumbled upon this place, and were immediately in the mood for some fresh pasta. The only slightly weird thing is that this place is away from the area of Bainbridge near the ferry, so it was a little bit of a drive. It is housed in a very unassuming strip of stores, and looks likely out of place. However, you walk in and dreams of what it would be like in Italy comes back. There is items for purchase such as imported goods — olives and such. There are only about seven seats in the place, and some outside. I got the pappardelle with wild boar sauce, and my mom and I shared the burrata with roasted veggies. Both were absolutely amazing, and had great flavor and freshness. The owner also took our order, and delivered our food to us personally. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone in the mood for good authentic Italian when on Bainbridge island.

Yes, the food was delicious. Our issue was with the service. We came in on a Tuesday morning at around 11:15 am. My husband ordered the lasagna, and I got the ravioli. My husband was halfway through eating his lasagna and had to ask for it to be warmed up again(too cold), and only then they noticed I was still waiting for my food. It seems like they had missed my ticket, even though we had ordered all the food together. There were four people in front of us working and no one bothered to ask why I was just seating there with no food while my husband ate his lasagna. The cashier kept walking away from her place to talk to the guy at the oven when she didn’t have customers, walking right by me. In the end we got two mini cannoli for our«trouble», but I have worked in the kitchen of a very busy restaurant before, and missing a ticket when the place is pretty much empty makes no sense. If you go, your best bet is to get take out, it seems like they pay more attention to the take out customers.

This is a great place to stop by if you’re on Bainbridge Island, and it’s more of a grocery market with fresh made pastas and salads than a restaurant. They have a few standard items though, and the meatball sandwich is one of them. This was a killer meatball sandwich! The service was a little slow, but the sandwich made up for any complaints. I would love to return and try some fresh pasta in the future.

Excellent pasta, but have to eat it there. You can take out the fresh ones and cook it yourself, but I rather have them cook it. The sauce are delicious. Great dessert too.

Thank you, Unilocal.I would never have come to this place if it weren’t for you. We had: Italian bean soup, meatballs, spinach ricotta ravioli with mushroom sauce, wild boar ragu with papardelle, a bottle of sangiovese, and a carton of tiramisu to take home. The meatballs were the best I’ve had in my life. The marinara was insane. The ravioli was perfect. The freshly made pasta was beautiful. The wild boar ragu melted in your mouth. Putting our faces into the tiramisu later that night was magical. The lady at the counter was knowledgeable, helpful, funny and accommodating. This is a tiny place with extremely limited seating. Get it to go or go at an off time if you’re going to want to sit and feast(and you will.)

I get lunch here every time I’m in Bainbridge. I get the chicken panini. I love it so much that I drove my boyfriend all the way from Tacoma to Bainbridge just to try it. I was lucky one day and remembered to bring my cooler so I could buy some fresh pasta and the mushroom sauce and a jar of their fresh pesto. It was so delicious and my boyfriend loved it. I only get to go once a month when I’m working there. Everyone is so friendly and they remember me. It’s a wonderful feeling. I love this place.

Superb food in a completely unassuming location. Hubby and I went here for our date night, not knowing what to expect. We started with a caprese salad, and I had spinach and ricotta ravioli with Bologna see sauce. Hubby had the meat lasagna. Everything is available for take away or they will plate it and you can eat in. The caprese salad was pre packaged, but when it arrived at our table with warm crusty bread and balsamic dressing, it was transformed. What an awesome start to the meal. Everything was impeccably fresh and delicious. The mains came out a short time later… wow. I was in heaven with my ravioli. I was so glad I listened to the recommendation from the hostess /grand daughter(?) /knower of all amazing foods in the deli. The chef came out and remarked how large the serving was that I received… it was all I could do to not devour it! I left a few for hubby to try… His lasagna was insane. I would get it in a heartbeat… We grabbed two cannoli to go. They are filled to order… no sogginess here. Nom. We also ended up getting some wild porcini mushroom sauce and parpadelle pasta to go for dinner the next night. Those, too, were awesome. Highly recommend. Next time, we will know what to expect and arrive a little earlier to enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner.

Via Rosa 11 was a lovely find. The food was absolutely great, and the staff was very friendly. Purposely placed a couple miles outside of popular downtown, Pino Sordello & family have figured out authentic, quality, and tasty, Italian food. Everything we ordered I highly recommend on the basis of taste and quality. The Meat Lasagna, Chicken Panino, Meat Ball Panino(both with the spicy peppers!), roasted veggies, and meatballs with marinara were very good. However, the meatballs and marinara were outstanding, so order some of them for the table to share. That said, find your way to Via Rosa 11 for a 5 Star experience. Don’t take my word for it, taste and see.

This place is a «Gem»! Great family owned Italian Market/Deli. Super friendly, very helpful! There were 7 of us and we were there 2 hours enjoying every moment ! We kept ordering food and it kept coming out! Everything was great! The lasagna was the best around. My daughter bought a bag of gluten-free pasta in their market and they cooked the entire bag for us! She picked the sauce of choice, walaah! Fantastic! The meatballs w Marinara sauce soo full of flavor! If you like authentic Italian, this is your place! Everything tasted great! We left pleasantly plump! If you are on BainBridge Island, stop by, You will enjoy the experience!

Our first visit(resulting in my earlier review) was during a Bainbridge Island Studio Tour. For this year’s tour, we made Via Rosa 11 our first stop off the ferry for lunch. Consistent experience with our lunch 2 years earlier: SERVICE: 4.5. Prompt and friendly. FOOD: 4.0. — 4.0. I had fresh gnocchi with Marinara sauce. Very good. Gnocchi had great texture and taste. — 3.5. My partner had a vegetable soup. She wished the individual vegetables were visible rather than the soup a uniform green color, but enjoyed the taste. AMBIANCE: 3.5. In a small 3-store strip mall with some outdoor seating. Imported Italian canned goods such as tomatoes, olive oils, and more.

Incredible!!! Truly the best Italian food that I’ve ever had anywhere. Backstory: We always order meals to share and usually have a favorite but this time it was truly difficult to say. Exhausted from a full day of travel… loss of luggage …frazzled nerves. Stumbled upon a review about Via Rosa. Saw that this family store/restaurant had an excellent rating and decided to give it a try. After hearing about our terrible horrible no good very bad day the owners daughter(sorry didn’t catch her name) told me with a smile” Not to sound too confident but. Once you have had dinner here you will forget all about your day“ WOW, WASSHERIGHT! Food: The pesto ravioli the gnocchi and the lasagna we’re what we we’re lucky enough to have. as The pesto ravioli was exquisite very fresh and tantalizes the senses, The gnocchi was so smooth and velvety on the toungue topped with mozzerella it was a dream. What I call a dish licking delight(no worries I would never lick the plate however that doesn’t stop a girl from dreaming) Finally the lasagna truly amazing. Very southern Italian in flavor meaty, rich, delicious. Literally transported my husband to memories of long past family members and their family meals. Something he thought he would not soon experience. Paired beautifully with Rosso Canero(thank you again lovely nameless heroine) Best part: It’s a store where you can take this home !! Staff: Warm family owned and operated. Down to earth The kind of people you would like to get know sit down and have a bottle or 2 of Vino with.

I was surprised by this place. There aren’t too many choices around this area, it seems. That said, this little Italian place is seriously some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. You can’t go wrong with this place. Awesome for take-n-make, all the handmade noodles and ravioli can be taken home and made there. A few places to sit, awesome service, amazing food. You watch the chefs work busily in the kitchen while you eat.

Authentic. Best meatball sandwich around. Pasta combinations are amazing… the kitchen is right in front of you to watch how they do it. Great spot to drop in for lunch or take out for dinner. Update March 2016: the remodel and larger kitchen is so nice. Can’t miss with this place!
