All things considered, this place isn’t that bad. It is run-down and out-dated. But the most important thing to me, is that it is clean. The sheets were clean, the floors were clean, and no mold in the bathroom! Plus the a/c worked wonderfully! I very much enjoyed the tile floors; personally I think they are more sanitary than carpet, especially for a place that allows pets. If you have to chose between staying in Baker vs staying in Primm, choose Baker. I’ve stayed in both, and the casino/hotels in Primm are a lot more run-down and gross feeling. This place is not a destination, luxurious hotel. but it is great for a good night’s rest on a long drive, or to explore the surrounding desert. Conveniently located near several eateries, all within walking distance.

After reading the reviews, I was really unsure what we were going to find here, but it was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are not fancy, and are finale sparse, but they are clean and comfortable. I really liked the tile floor. It was clean and didn’t smell funky like many hotel rooms do. The pool was full and clean, and that made the place for the kids(and for us after driving trough both Joshua Tree NP and the Mojave Preserve). The Internet was really spotty in our room, which was on the far side away from the main office, but it works in the pool area, which is nice when sitting with the kids. The couple who run the place are lovely and friendly, too. All in all, I’d be happy to stay here again.

I have skipped staying in Baker before because of Unilocal reviews of this hotel. On our latest trip, my fiancée asked how bad it could be. After I had her read the Unilocal reviews, we agreed to try it. The location is convenient. I was pleasantly surprised. Don’t get me wrong: It’s not a pampered luxury brand, or even a midrange Comfort Inn. This is probably a rung or two down from Motel 6. But it’s not a total pit. No art on the walls, but I don’t need cheesy motel art on the walls to close my eyes and get some sleep, and I don’t pick my motels so I can watch TV either. My fiancée observed that the tile floors in the rooms are a great idea: They can be mopped clean, and she said her bare feet felt clean after walking in the room, not sticky as they do with some(«fancier») motel carpets. The bed and bedding were no luxury items, but they got the job done fine. The room had only a few sticks of furniture(I would have liked a bedside table), but it had plenty of floor space for our dog kennels. Baker is a small town, so there’s plenty of food available within walking distance(and the Mad Greek is open 24⁄7). I agree with the folks who noted that the hanging-slat window«blinds» didn’t give us much privacy. Now that I’ve read the other Unilocal reviews again, I realize why the light outside our room was out. And yes, the wi-fi really only works if you’re sitting in the office. But the guy at the front desk was very friendly, and if the furnishings were spare, they were at least clean. The location really is convenient(at least for us), and the crickets at night are amazing. I wouldn’t mind staying there again, at all. Just don’t go there expecting it to be lush and luxurious, and you’ll do fine.

For a cheap hotel, the room cleanliness and amenities were as expected. I actually slept really well in the king bed. There is free wifi but I had to stand at the room window to get it. The receptionist is not aware that wifi passwords are case-sensitive so that took a couple tries to get in. In the morning the troubles started. There was a loose plastic shower mat in the stand-up that nearly killed me. Luckily I got away with a swollen hand. When I went to breakfast, I returned to find the maid left my room door OPEN and the room unattended with my valuables inside. Upon checkout, the office was closed. Who closes a hotel office at 11am? I don’t recommend staying here.

We had to stay at Wills Fargo in Baker California last week for a job in the area. One of our group opted out and said he would just drive the 100 miles each way from Boulder City, He was the smart one. The place is totally run down, it seemed clean as I think they use a quart of bleach on the floor of your room every time they clean it. After checking in and before bringing anything into the room I checked for bed bugs, I did not find any but there were small roach looking bugs dead behind the night stands and a smeared one on the sheets. Should have left then. The Bed was terrible I could feel every spring in it when I first laid down, Glad I brought a 4″ topper. The blinds would not close all the way and the adjusting wand did nothing as it was stripped out. So all night long the first night it was bright enough to read a book in the room. The next night I unscrewed the lights out side my room and it wasn’t to bad. All the furnishings look like they raided the Good Will donation box. he lamp in my room had a broken switch so you had to unplug it to turn it off. The Bathroom has a sign that says the hot water may take a few minutes to get there and thank you for your patient’s. They have a pool and I looked at it and it seemed clean but unheated and felt like it was about 60*. I can’t believe how many people check in to this place, but did notice most only stayed 4 or 5 hours and left. Must be just to tiered to go on. Would I stay here again? No I would drive on my own time each way and pay for the fuel myself if I had to, and my work truck gets 5MPG. It rates up there in my top 3 places of the worst places I have ever stayed, There is a 3 way tie between Bruno’s Country Club in Gerloch Nevada, and Armagosa inn at Armagosa Junction CA near Death Valley. Wills would be number one but at least there are places to eat near by. Also you can not get inter net away from the front office and only a few channels on the tv including an error message from Dish TV stating that an unauthorized smart card is in receiver.

Not bad if you’re exhausted from driving and desperate for a room in the Baker area. The room I had was clean, had a firm bed, working a/c & heater units. My biggest complaint was that the sink seemed clogged and drained extremely slow. Considering what the town of Baker has to offer, this may be the best place to stay in the area. The owners were pleasant to deal with. Single king bed runs $ 58 total per night. They accept Visa, Discover and American Express. I would stay here again if i were in Baker.

When I came here two gals were working the counter that were super nice, which is basically why giving this motel the rating I’m giving it. To be honest though, its not too bad once you get your room and walk around a bit, at first your going to think differently though. Its in baker for one, which is far from fancy. Then it was built probably 50+ years ago with little renovation performed since. the bottom line: if you have to stay in Baker for some reason, this is probably your best option, its safe, relatively clean, and the people are nice. Its just not a four seasons, or even a motel 6 for that matter.

Well it’s not the dirtiest motel I’ve stayed in. The heater works, the floor tiles are cold and it takes a few minutes for the shower to warm up. There were some holes in the sheets but I understand since there doesn’t appear to be a bed, bath & beyond nearby. There is also a cute price list on the tv set informing you of the costs that you will incur if items are missing. The bedspread is only $ 70!

When we were making plans for our trip, it turned out that Baker CA would be the most convenient place to stay for seeing the Mojave Preserve and Mitchell Caverns. Since, I am the one who makes the hotel reservations; I started my search on Unilocal and then moved to Travelocity. The reviews were bleak almost frightening. I asked the Husband if we could use another town and he said we could but the closet one was about an hour drive; I even made reservations in Needles. That hour drive sounded more and more unsavory and I decided to make a choice from the three motels in Baker(now only two as we found out that Arne’s Royal Hawaiian is closed). For some reason, the internet picture appealed to me most. When we drove up to the 1950’s white and blue motor court around 3:30 in the afternoon, I was creeped out by the appearance and understood some of the other reviews. The room was not the most welcoming place in the world but once we started moving gear in, I could see the positives. Our room was freshly painted, large, had a new TV and microwave. The bathroom worked and I did not feel I had to wear flip flops in the shower. After sleeping the first night(yes, we stayed two nights), I was pleased with the soft percale sheets and comfortable bed. When we woke up, there were decent cars in the parking lot. The swimming pool is clean and the owners are nice people. Whew, for a moment I was afraid Freddy Krueger was going to sneak into the room and slash us to death from reading other reviews. So I could say 2 stars because I have had better but I am going to give Wills Fargo Motel 3 stars because of all the bad press, the owners are trying to make this 60 year old establishment comfortable for their guests and an American dream for themselves, and if you have to stay in Baker for whatever reason, it is A-OK.
