I have a love/hate relationship with 7-Eleven, mostly because the independently-owned stores are very independent, giving them a bad reputation. This one was different. I had just been to a nearby Jack-in-the-Box where the dining room was closed for construction. I didn’t want to guess what was wrong with the kitchen still. This store was convenient, and while roller food is not my favorite, I had recently tried the pizza and I’m still alive, so I figured that I would find something. I found an Italian Grill(or some such name) sandwich. $ 3.99, but as it was new, $ 2.99. It sounded just fine. It also said«Take it to the counter to be toasted.», which I did. The gentleman sold me everything, and asked me to wait a moment, as he took care of the next customer. We went around to the other side where their little oven sat on the work table, and he prepared everything. I cringe to say that I don’t remember his washing his hands. I worked in healthcare for 7 years – don’t judge me but I missed it. The heat would kill any problem anyway. At the finish, he put the sandwich back in the plastic wrapper, provided me with napkins, and wished me a good day. If I had asked for that at many locations, they would have told me to stick it in the microwave – or somewhere more personal. I really appreciate that he did what I expected of the best 7-Eleven stores I’ve ever seen.
