Worst chili cheese fries they put beans and cheese like really?! No chili beans sigh! Horrible chili cheese fries. She didn’t even tell me they on have one size really small. I asked for a hamburger and they gave me a JR burger without telling me it’s plan. Plus I got there first and everyone that show up after me got their food first. Worst hamburger stand don’t waste your time just go to frosty king better.

I truly hate to give a negative review of someone’s business, but I have to be fair in my critique as to what I experienced. My spouse and I were in central Bakersfield today, which is her home town, and she told me about this hamburger spot and how her sister used to work there. So I said, «Let’s go check it out!» When we arrived, the parking lot was chewed up and not maintained, there was a lot of paper litter around the few outdoor dining tables that skirted the east side of the restaurant. And no joke, there were three feral cats sniffing for morsels of food around the tables, which were not wiped clean. When I received my cheeseburger, there was a thin slice of meat, and worse, the meat was a pale gray. When I bit into it, the meat tasted stale and old, as if it wasn’t healthy. I went up to the counter and told the women who I assume is the owner about the meat. Her response to me was, «Yes, my husband tasted it a few days ago, and he said that it didn’t taste right.» What??? Why are they serving it then???, I thought to myself. Trying to be diplomatic and sensitive about a person’s business, I told her, «You should really contact your meat distributor and let them know that there is some sort of problem, and perhaps even get a credit back for the meat or something.» She nodded her head in the affirmative. I didn’t ask for money back; it just wasn’t that important to me, and I was fine just finishing the large Coke that I had ordered and just getting back on the road with my lady. But I must say that I would not visit this eatery again. There seems to me to be a decided lack of care and maintenance over both the premises and over the food. And let’s face it; the latter is the most important.

Blast from the past. Ordered the ‘big’ big burrito. Very friendly staff even though it was a bit of a wait but there were a couple of vehicles at the drive thru. It is wrap in foil and placed in a bag. There are tables and seats outside under the shade but had it to go. On first bite, it taste the same as I remembered it which is a good thing. What I didn’t expect was the size. Thought it used to be bigger than it actually was. Maybe cause I’m bigger now it doesn’t seem as big but it’s named ‘big’ big for a reason. To be fair, the price is still like 3.25 so in order to keep the same price during inflation, they made the burrito smaller. Then again, it was while ago so I’m not really sure. I think I can eat two of these now and I might be full LOL. The PB shake taste the same too. It’s all good!

The burritos used to be worth driving across town for. But now? Keep driving. The recipe has changed. Less meat, less filling, cooked in rancid oil. Just so disappointing. Also the pies are cook in rancid oil, the chicken strips are nothing but bread and over cooked. The fries are cold and again, the burritos are terrible. Too bad we lost a good place. I will never go back.

There’s a place up the street that lost my business to Andre’s. Andre’s has good service and the pastrami is awesome! Just an old school drive-in with good food. Wait a minute, have I ever had a BAD pastrami sandwich??? Right off Hwy 58 makes this a convenient stop for a hot sandwich while passing through Bakersfield. I’ve eaten here twice and I’ll be back!

Of you can get past the neighborhood and the occasional pan handler, the food is worth it. I’ve been going here for 40 years and only a handful of times have I been disappointed. One if the few places one can still get crushed ice! French burgers are awesome!

Andres used to be one my family’s favorite places to eat. It seems like the quality went downhill for a while. It just seemed like some ingredients were replaced with cheaper ingredients. This caused me to avoid it for the longest time. However, just recently I tried it and it was much, much better than it had been. Still not quite what it was when I first started eating there, but the food has definitely improved. It was hot, fresh, and tasty. The service there has always been great. It’s not the fastest drive thru in the world, the employees are always super friendly. It also seems like Andres has maintained fairly low prices.

My grandfather, Joseph Andre, and his brothers started this business years ago. Glad to see that the current owner is still taking care of the place. The big burrito is always a great way to go. That is, of course, if you have never had a French burger before. And name one other place that taste this great that sells both Pepsi and Coca-Cola products.

Very disappointed. Our first time here and most likely our last. The«deluxe» cheeseburger was anything but deluxe. Just a thin sliver of meat with a lot of lettuce and tomato. Usually you’ll find a thick burger at a drive in like this one but not here. Pies are disappointing too. Cold and taste like they were made yesterday. You’d do better by getting a hot apple pie at McDonald’s next door.

We were coming home from my daughters house from Hart Flat on highway 58 and we were hungry. So we got off at Union and decided to go to this old established restaurant because of its well known good food. We ordered the French burger combo, the pastrami comb and a cherry and peach fried pies. First off the fries didn’t make it home because we were starving and they are the best fries I’ve had in a long time. The French burger was good except the bun is just a little hard for my taste. The pastrami was good not too chewy and the peppers were hot! Yes loved them. And as I said those fries barely made it home. The cherry fried pie was my husbands and the peach was mine. The crust to filling ratio was just right and the crust is then glazed which is a plus I could of ate a dozen! By the way those pies come in many other flavors and I’m ordering all of them next time they are worth the drive!

I tend to be a major fan of food spots like this… however this place was just alright for me. I ordered the pastrami on French a la carte and to my surprise the pastrami lacked moisture/juices. Generally I couldn’t eat and drive with a pastrami sandwich or burger from previous food providers but for Andre’s I could. The food was fresh and seasoned well but it was dry.

Of all the burgers I ever had, nothing is quite like the infamous french burger at Andres drive inn. This double patty is not stack on top of each other but place from one end to another like a sub burger loaded with goodies. Folks, this is a messy burger that would put Carl’s Jr to shame so make sure you have plenty of napkins. How it was made and that familiar taste has stand the test of time like no other burger I ever had. It’s not healthy cause it’s old fashion of how burgers were made back then as I’ve been told. As far as their fries I never really cared for nor any other item which include their popular«big» big burrito which is an oversized bean filled chimichanga more on the crunchy side. The milkshakes were okay but did not stand out like Fosters freeze, not to be confused with Frosty King. Anyways, I would make it a point to stop here if I ever pass thru on 99 since it’s not that far off the highway. If driving on I-5, skip it cause it’s too far outta the way and not that great. It’s just memorable to me.

I’m sorry, but you don’t go here for health food. This is down right greasy old fashioned goodness! One of my favorite things to eat here is the Big Big Burrito. OMG it’s delish! There is a reason this place has been open for so long. Every time I’m in town I have to go here hands down!

This was the most disgusting food I have ever eaten, it was beyond greasy and who kniws how old the bacon was, everything was drenched in grease… never again. I will call my bank at pay to stop payment on this order.

If I could put no stars I would. My cheeseburger came with no cheese! Burgers where extremely soggy. order chili cheese fries and the lady handed us the bag upright so when my husband got the bag the chili soaked through the bag and spilled all over him !!! Won’t recommend this place to no one worst hamburger place ever!

Both my Husband and I are from Bakersfield, and remember the original ‘Andres’ and how good the food was. With that in mind and with several reviews on Unilocal we decided to try it again… definitely NOT worth the time it took to drive there(we live in Bakersfield). The Hamburgers were soggy and tasteless. The Fries weren’t too bad, the onion rings were soggy. Last Visit, there’s better closer to home!

There is a reason that this place has been open for as long as it has been. Ive eaten at many burger joints in town and in terms of food Andres has the best burger in bakersfield. The only reason i gave it four stars is because the area around the business has gone downhill… if your afraid of homeless people hitting you up for money, then dont eat at this place. All things considered, this is a great place to take someone that wants the full bakersfield experience! Ps…order the french burger, you wont be dissappointed!

Took a while. The burger was whatever. Got chili cheese fries… Seemed that chili was made from sctatch, they hace beans in them, I just couldn’t pin point exactly why i didn’t really enjoy them. The size of the order seemed small. All the food was smoking hot, so it at least arrives home warm :) Crushed ice! 50cent charge for credit/debit use :/
