Banacek’s Lounge

Great casual (not a dive) bar. I make the distinction that it’s not a dive bar because your first impression might leave you thinking it’s a place where low brow patrons frequent. Then once you pay attention to little details like the very clean bathrooms, excellent and friendly service, wide beverage selection, and well-​maintained pool tables, you realize that it’s just a quality place that isn’t trying too hard to impress you with a trendy Hipster veneer.
The staff here are great. Fast service, cold drinks, pretty good food (surprising for a bar) and the atmosphere is very laid back. In spite of being in Oildale, this isn’t a thug hangout. Lots of regulars, great music (karaōke some nights, bands others) and an outside patio where you can relax and talk without having to yell across the table. That’s a big plus for me.
I’ve gone here a dozen times now and it’s officially my local bar. If they put Shiner Bock, Amber Bock, or Newcastle on tap, they’d get a 5 star review.
