Big 5 Sporting Goods

I always forget about Big 5. But when my husband wanted a long rifle and was unsuccessful in finding one at a decent price at the gun show he checked the price here and Viola here was one exactly like he was looking for and for a lot less than the prices at the gun show.
Unfortunately they had other rifles that were on his wish list at great prices and seemed to finagle one of those too. Funny how that happens, I thought that only happens when I go shoe shopping? The only problem with them is it is painfully slow going to do the paperwork, I know you’re buying a gun but the guy had a million interruptions and it was right out in front of God and everyone to see not much privacy.
Then I wanted a drone that was on sale for my grandson for Christmas and they were out. Of course the only thing he wanted from us, but they did call around and found one at their Paso Robles store since I had to go to the beach the next day I’d swing by and pick it up.

This was my first time at the location. We stopped by to buy our snow gear for our snow trip last week. My boys and I had a fun time picking out all of our gear. Most of the items we purchased were on sale and those that weren’t were reasonably and comparably priced.
The employees I spoke with didn’t have a lot of knowledge, but during Christmas time I know that they hire a lot of temporary employees for the season. The store lacked inventory of the snow items I was interested in. However, the store was packed full of product. It was crammed with products where there was hardly any room to walk or stand in line.
The best part of my trip was that I was able to split my transactions up and use two coupons. I was very thankful that they allowed me to do that. It helps our family save money.

Since we live on the east side, we usually go to the one on our side of town. But, we were in the area and looking for something. This store seems smaller than the one on the east side but with the same amount of stuff. It is a little crowded; I felt like I was bumping into something or someone as we walked around the store. They were really busy when we went. The staff is friendly enough; but not as friendly as the one on the east side. We couldn’t find what we were looking for and couldn’t find someone to help us, so we left. Next time, we will just go to the one on our side of town.

Big 5 stinks. Went in for advertised special on running shoes. Did not have my size. They said I could go to the other store they did not check to see iif they were in stock at the other store I had to do the thinking for them and tell them to check on the computer they would have wasted my time. Then they said they had them in tehachipi and Santa Clarita, nice like I want to drive 2.5 hours for something they should have had in stock because it was an advertised special. Then I asked if I could order the shoes in my size they said it would take a month or more. They did not even tell me I could order online and get free shipping they are clueless and every time I go there there are employees standing around and talking and ignoring customers. Big five should be renamed !!!We Don’t Give A Crap!!!

It’s been a few years since I been to Big 5. I walked in, no one welcomes me in. I walk to the back to the shoe area. The shoe guy helps me out. I walk up to the register. Long line but it took about 7 mins to get to the cash register. Store size is big. Customer service is not great.

I bought a pair of hiking shoes that were on sale. Do expect to wait a long time for an employee to help you in the shoe aisle.

A huge joke management didn’t know what they were saying when it came to fire arms. Denied me and laughed in my face when they said I didn’t have the right form of id. Not sure what form they need when I’m providing a drivers license and a government id. I guess that what you get when you hire high school drop outs that can’t get a job w the authority they think they have at big 5.

It’s a bit disorganized and a bit smelly inside. The parking sucks too. But out of the couple places to hunt for swim gear and other athletic gear in town, this place has the best prices. The clerk was also nice enough to let me in on a little secret… if you buy something later that you saw on sale prior, you can ask for the sale price and they will give it to you! Now that’s good business!

Big 5 is having a big sale with plenty of deals today. Unfortunately they don’t have enough help so pity on you if you actually want to buy something. If you need to try something on, forget getting a cashier’s attention to give you the key. You’re better off changing in the aisle.
