Horrible! I took 3 dresses in to be altered, she told me she could only do 1 of the 3. I took the other 2 dresses to another alterations place, and they were able to alter the dress as requested. She also was INCREDIBLY rude – she had the decency to ask me «don’t you know anything about sewing?» No, Chong, I don’t. Obviously thats why I’m here. I will NEVER go back here. Not only because of her attitude, but also overpriced.

RUNASFASTASYOUCANFROMTHISPLACE. They actually deserve one star(instead of zero) for being decent enough to give me my money back after she botched my dress and blamed me for having a «weird body» instead of taking responsibility for her terrible alteration job. I went into Chong’s at the recommendation of a friend to get a few tucks on a vintage halter dress. She told me to come back in TWO weeks, which is way longer than any tailor has told me for such a simple job. I’m honestly confused why she needed two weeks because she literally folded the seams on the sides and sewed over it instead of taking it apart and putting it back together. Now there are TWO seams on each side of the dress; it’s super tacky(strike one!). She also cut off the hanging straps. When I told her that I actually use them she insulted me in front of customers(strike two!). The neck line was also super off center & lopsided(strike three!). Turns out she had cut all of the elastic from one side of the strap(making the other side hang down more), and she needed to take it in more on one side. I pointed this out to her and she said that it was because«my body is different»(granted my body isn’t perfect, but her JOB is to make it so clothes fit people properly — if you have one leg longer than the other wouldn’t you expect her to hem them so each pant leg was the same distance from the floor? Strike four!). She would pull the dress so that it was center but as soon as I would move the dress would go off center again, and she said that I would«just have to tape it to myself and deal with it». She began to argue with me, make excuses, and berate/belittle me in front of a different set of customers(strike five!). I still demanded she fix it so I went back in three days later, but we were still having the same issues(because again, she cut off too much of the elastic strap from one side causing it to be off balance and she didn’t have enough fabric to salvage it and refused to add other fabric). She was still blaming it on my body rather than taking responsibility that she screwed up, making excuses, and berating/belittling me(strike six!). I called her out on her behavior and that was the point where she said she didn’t want to deal with me or my dress anymore and that she would give me my money back. She had charged me $ 46 for the whole thing, which was ABSURD for the amount of effort she actually put into it. She demands half of the payment up front, which I understand some people need to do to protect their business, but no other tailor has EVER made me do that. And let me just say that I’ve been dealing with the body that I have since I was 13(thank you scoliosis!) and every tailor I have been to has been extremely sensitive and accommodating to my condition. With her«thirty-five years of experience» I would expect her not only to be sensitive to it, but to have experience tailoring those with various skeletal issues. She’s obviously not only inexperienced in this area, but blind to her customers’ needs.

The main lady in here is a hoot. I have taken a dress, and two pairs of work pants here so far, and I am definitely going back. She is extremely funny, helpful with suggestions, and gets alterations accomplished in a timely manner. She even had me try on 3 different height shoes to wear with my work slacks, and made them a length that worked with all three.

Came here on recommendations from Macy’s about having a suit altered. I had the jacket and waist/inseam taken in. I talked to the lady over the phone who gave me a ballpark estimate. In the end, the work was done for $ 75, which is about average for this type of work. I dropped it off Wednesday afternoon and had it back Friday afternoon, they usually charge a rush fee, but she waived it was it was my first time there. I got the suit back. I was happy with the work. The suit was fitted without looking stretched. It was an older style, so there is only so much one can do to «modernize» the slim look, but their work was solid. I have another suit and will probably be back again soon.
