So I ordered the meatloaf sandwich to go since I had seen a good review. This was not worth the price. There was too much going on with all of the different spices they used. It did not taste like meatloaf at all. But the onion rings I ordered with it were pretty yummy.

The food is great, and the employees are super friendly. I love that they’re open at all hours and have breakfast items always available. They don’t mind some creative ordering customization, and it has always been delicious for us. It’s a favorite stop whenever we’re in Bakersfield. The last time we went there, June 18, we didn’t notice we accidentally dropped some things like cash and a store loyalty card. One of the employees came out as we were heading to the car and returned the cash and card. That’s just one example of the integrity of the employees. My husband and I joke about the creeping encroachment of Christmas decorations everywhere after Halloween. Cindy’s doesn’t do that. They make sure to have Thanksgiving décor for its time, fun and festive without being overwhelming.

Sometimes the food is great and other times, not so good. Some of the waitresses are nice but sometimes not. I always have to ask for things. A couple of the girls are always on their phones. Oh well, its ok for a late night snack, otherwise I usually go to one of my other«go to» places. Lot of homeless people outside, so be careful where you park. Shew, the bathrooms stink!!!

Me and hubby went there late night. I order steak dinner. He order breakfast. My order started off with salad man that was a good salad I could of had two of those… it was that good. And when my plate came omg. the steak was so big it was hanging off the plate… I wish it was a little more tender but besides that it was so much food i had left over 3boxes and it came with dessert. My waitress was very nice as well. I didn’t get her name but she was sweet. I will be going back.

Unilocal says they’re open from 5:30−10 but their menu says 24 hours. I came in this morning around 6:30am. What a cute place and great staff! I wish I got our server’s name this morning, she was so delightful! She offered us recommendations and was very welcoming. Service was perfect and our drinks were never empty. Our breakfast was what you’d expect from a cute little diner, nothing memorable but I will definitely return!

It’s diner food. It has all the great diner things that diners have. Great ranch dressing, a menu that goes on forever, all day breakfast and regulars. Open 24 hours. I usually go for the business person’s meal– which does come with a small scoop of ice cream at the end.

I’ve eaten here back in the day. The food was better then. went in today 12÷31÷15 at about 11AM had the chopped ham and eggs. the food was passable. unfortunately the service was not. the waitress would walk right past our table with the coffee pot. she’d fill other tables, but not ours. I had to waive her down for each refill. felt pretty neglected as a customer. then went to the register to pay. the woman who took my payment, literally said NOTHING to me. she took my card, swiped it, gave me the receipt to sign, took it from me, and gave me my copy without a SINGLE word. I mean what is with a person like that,? Why be in the service sector if your unfriendly? based on the terrible service, food that was a notch below Denny’s, yet cost more, I will not eat there again. a sausage and egg mcmuffin would have been a better deal, and I’m sure the service couldn’t be any worse. bad all the way around. PS: the creamer pot they gave us, had crusted residue near the brim, disgusting. paid for the coffee, but only drank water.

Well, I feel somewhat bad about having to leave a review with low stars, but the primary reason I visit a restaurant is to eat food. Went in here yesterday with the hubby– we live on this side of town, and hadn’t tried this place yet. We won’t be going back. I ordered Chicken fried steak and eggs, he had ham and eggs. First off– coffee was gross– weak and old/scortched, served at a tepid temperature– at 10:30 am? not cool. Ordered quickly, food arrived quickly. My scrambled eggs were also tepid, at best– not thrilled about being served something that could harbor salmonella at a questionable temperature. The chicken fried steak was BURNTBLACK. Yucky, burnt food on my plate! Eew. My mans ham and eggs were fine, not burnt or cold like mine. I didn’t eat the burnt food, and settled on the accompanying pancakes, which were undercooked and rubbery. Wow– how do you burn some food and drastically undercook the rest? The waitress was very nice– I told her/showed her the blackened food on my plate, which she did offer to replace. I didn’t want to wait for another order of what could be equally bad food, so declined. Our waitress did deduct the cost of the burnt Chicken Fried Steak from the tab, and she was accommodating and apologetic, which is why I’ve given 2 stars. And good thing for it, because that order of Chicken Fried Steak was over 14 bucks. Those are pretty steep prices for breakfast food, especially when it’s destroyed by the cook. Service: excellent Food: inedible.

We have been coming here for a long time. They are open 24 hours! Yay! And are located on my side of town! Double Yay! When I was pregnant with our daughter, this was my go-to place when I am hungry and/or craving something to eat in the wee hours of the evening or early mornings! They have great service, very friendly staff, great food and Cindy is always fun when she’s around! I love their steaks here. They are flavorful and always cooked the way I want it! Some food items to try are their Mushroom Burger, Halibut Steak and their Monte Cristo! I think they have the best Monte Cristo in town!!! My favorite omelettes are the Spinach, Mushroom & Swiss Cheese; Sauteed Mushroom; and the Hobo Omellete! Your meal comes with dessert when you order from the dinner menu. Good luck having room for it after your meal. I usually end up letting the kids have my dessert because I am stuffed after I eat my meal. Our family loves this restaurant. We will keep coming back!

My boyfriend and I went to Cindy’s for breakfast today. We both ordered the complete breakfast. No more than 5 –10 mins our food was ready. Brace yourself, it was the best breakfast EVER! The food was amazing! You get a good portion of food for the price you pay not to mention staff was super nice and friendly! I will definitely be back again :)

Boyfriend and i went here really late at night for steaks. He used to work overnight and would come to cindy’s on his lunch breaks. He assured me it was pretty good. Of course that’s never the case when i tag along. We both got medium rare steaks and they were waaaaay overcooked. We asked for new ones and the very nice waitress took them back. The new ones were so much worse! Mine was completely covered in pepper. Like coated in it. I couldnt take a bite without coughing. His was totally raw. Was the cook mad we had sent them back? Who knows. We payed and left without actually eating anything more than a couple bites. They didnt even offer to comp it when they saw it wasnt finished and we weren’t taking any of it…

Look, it’s just great. Everyone loves 24th St, but this food is simple, and perfected. They do not need new dishes every day to stay in the lime light. Get the French Toast, Fatty, you’ll love it!

Place used to be one of the best places on the East Side for breakfast and lunch… Has REALLY gone downhill in the last few years… Food is not anywhere near as good as it used to be… People are still VERY nice and helpful… But everything is now bland and tasteless… Have been going to Cindy’s since I was a kid… Now someone has got to drag me into this restaurant… Hope they get back on top of their game…

Located on the east side of Bakersfield, near the corner of Oswell and Auburn, you will find a local gem. Most born and raised Bakersfield folks have been here or heard of it. For east siders, this is our nearby breakfast spot. Actually, they are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. In my younger days I would finish off a long night of cruising Chester avenue or other partying by dropping into Cindy’s for some food and calm down time. After all these years I still have not received a bad meal or been over charged. The place is always clean and the staff are always nice. Kids are welcome. It is an old place and still has imitation Naugahyde seats and laminated tables. Personally, I love it. It feels like happy memories. Prices are good and the food looks and tastes more home cooked than not. The only negative is seating that is a little cramped for big people. Try Cindy’s, they won’t disappoint.

This is a very stable Mom and Pop breakfast place. So many East-sider regulars come here. Cindy’s crew are always nice and they treat their customers like family. The place is clean and has that restaurant homey feeling. Their food is simple and good. No shenanigans but just a good american food. We go here during breakfast, lunch, dinner and even mid-night snack cravings because they are open 24 Hours! All breakfast food are good. For lunch I usually order their mushroom burger(awesome for my bi-racial palette). Over all a good place to go in the East side of town.

Got an omelette with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, spinach and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The potatoes are TODIEFOR. Nothing was greasy, everything was cooked perfectly, and the service was friendly. Everything is from scratch and served with a smile. My friend had the reuben with onion rings based on the photo we saw on Unilocal!,and she said it was PERFECT. She wouldn’t even let me snag a bite. :( I would definitely come back and try more things. I didn’t get to take pics because my phone was D E A D but next time I definitely will. The biscuits are from scratch and looked killer. I’ll give them a go next time for sure.

It’s an east side tradition. Food is good and it’s a very cozy here. It’s like eating at your grandmas house.

The atmosphere felt as cozy as a fart in a mitten when we walked in. I was instantly happy and couldn’t wait to cozy myself up in a booth with hot coffee. I ordered the Ruben with onion rings & the plate looked amazing when it was set in front of me. End happiness. My onion rings were dripping of grease & tasted like the fryer probably smells. My Ruben was a lot less impressive than it appeared, also. Wahh! I want my comfort food! I’m not feeling comforted! My bf ordered eggs Benedict & he cleaned his plate, but before he managed to do so, I stole a bite & the hollandaise tasted like a cheap powered mix. I’ll come here with a blanket and have hot coffee if Bakersfield ever has a snow-in, but I’ll leave the delicious diner style comfort food to somewhere else– Milt’s or my own kitchen.
