I used to go all the time when I lived around the corner. Now, a year later, I stop in once every month or so and am still greeted with smiles and friendly faces and still feel like a regular. I always have a tough time deciding what to order so I give the baristas a rough idea of what I’m in the mood for and they always work their magic and never disappoint:)

Dagny’s! This place brings back fond memories of when I ran a coffee shop and it makes me feel wonderful. The shop overall shows some signs of age, but that’s not to say that it isn’t fabulous. The overall appearance of the place gives it a sort of eccentric vibe, almost as though it should have the type of façade it bolsters. This shop sells various pastries, delicious coffee, and something really exciting: beer! I came for the wine before a quick movie at the Fox and it was delicious. There are a few beers on tap, but what surprised me more were the prices. Very well priced considering its downtown, and the service is amazing. The gal who was helping me was very attentive and quick to answer any questions I had when I was making my selections. She sold my sister and I on a huge cookie and we loved it. This is the spot to have a fun meeting with friends, or a quick mid day snack to unwind.

Pretty good drinks for a great price. The atmosphere is nice and the workers are really friendly! Not my favorite spot for a tea-​drinker like me but on days where I want coffee this is the spot to go!

Absolutely love this place! It’s my go-​to stop for some great coffee and the amazing scones. But… yes, there’s a but, I went in this morning and purchased 2 scones, one for myself and one for my co-​worker and unfortunately the one I kept for myself, Apricot Walnut, was not very good. It was a bit stale. The date on the sticker said the 23^rd. Only a day over the date, it was not very edible. I tried to call to fyi you all but the number listed on your fb page says it’s not a working number. I’m still a faithful customer and will still be in to buy some scones, I’ll just pay more attention to the dates! You all still rock! 5−24−16

They have the greatest staff, always very prompt and friendly. You cant go wrong with ordering a Mudslide!

The black coffee is DELICIOUS! My favorite is Volcan — much better than other coffee I have had elsewhere. I tried the bran muffin and it was excellent. The service was fast and very friendly. Another customer came to the counter to complain about the raspberry tea tasting funny. The staff was very concerned, took out the container and they all tasted it. They gave her a new tea from a different container.
We have also purchased whole coffee beans from Dagny’s, which brewed up into excellent coffee at home I like the atmosphere, service and products!

Despite my love of travel to big cities, my inaugural Unilocal review happens in the sleepy town of Bakersfield, CA at Dagny’s Coffee Company. I randomly crossed paths with this place while exploring the wee downtown area, so while it’s completely new to me, it has the immediate feel of a treasured local staple.
The large windows with an open layout accompanied by a tasteful scattering of local art and photography are just the start. The seating is abundant and there is free wifi for those inclined to surf and sip. Walking in on a weekend you stop feeling like you need to hurry. You’re greeted by exceptionally friendly staff who are more than willing to take the time to recommend something to drink or snack on. Everyone seems at ease either catching up on work, leisurely reading, conversating, or playing some chess on the patio. Pop by for a peanut butter cookie and enjoy.

I always get a good cup of coffee here! The owners are local and friendly, and always seem to be helping when the shop is busy. Overall, a great hometown spot to relax.

I’ve been to a lot of the highly reviewed coffee shops in town and this is my favorite. Not only is the coffee nice, they serve food, beer, and have an immense amount of indoor and outdoor seating. The cool people of Bakersfield have flocked here because of its chill vibe and downtown location I assume, and I will be returning as often as I can before escaping Bakersfield for a far hipper place ;)

Great local coffee spot. Eclectic local crowd and super friendly baristas. Wish I had more time to relax and enjoy my coffee and Madeleine but unfortunately had to hit the road. I will bookmark and return when back in Bakersfield. Glad I stumbled onto this wonderful coffee shop.

I always have to make a stop at Dagny’s whenever I’m in town. This place is a legit neighborhood coffee shop that invites you to stop and stay a while.
Whether you’re sitting out on the patio to have a smoke with your fresh joe, sitting inside on one of the comfy couches or armchairs and reading a newspaper, or meeting with a client or a friend at one of the tables along the side and in the quieter back room, this place is full of positive energy and makes you feel like you’re at home.
All the baristas are peppy and full of helpful tips to make sure you get exactly what you want, and the espresso is consistently excellent every time I’m there. Keep it up! You guys are the best coffee place in town!

This place is a keeper for sure, customer service is on point and the prices are better than a lot of places I have visited which is a plus ! They have been open for 15 years. Love a place with some history to it ! love love love it. I bought a chai vanilla latte made hot and perfect ! a lot of seating great place to meet up with friends or just to read. Tables are clean too!

Pulling up to this coffee shop, you see all walks of life here. Makes for a dynamic scene and it is great to get out of the NW bubble and into the downtown core. Parking was easy on the street.
The patio was dotted with people chatting, working, sipping their drinks and enjoying the sun.
Inside was busy on a Fri afternoon with a large line which we had no trouble braving as we had driven downtown specifically to find and try this authentic coffee shop. We were looking for good service and amazing java. We found both. Ordered was a cappuccino and Americano. Perfect, deep, tasty beans without any bitterness. There are also some baked goods on display and we purchased a banana bread that has not yet been devoured.
Service was delivered with a smile and all 3 of the staff behind the counter were helping each other to pump the orders out.
The only thing is that when busier, the place is cramped to stand in line. There is no room for people to walk through or wait. One long couch facing the counter if changed to a love seat in that one spot would alleviate some of the cramp feeling but hey… Looks like everything is going great for Dagny’s and Bako really needs more chill places like this all over the city.
Prices quite good too for quality coffee.

Recent business trip to Bakersfield. (Local tried to sell me on his personal motto for the city, «Bakersfield! It’s not as bad as I thought!). Really surprised at the difficulty I had finding a decent cup of coffee. Enter Dagny’s. Pretty good to satisfy my coffee snobbery. Helpful staff.
Give it a shot.

I ordered the cheese omelette again because last time it was EXCELLENT! However, this time lacked salt and lacked cheese. I was of course disappointed because I spent $ 4.57 for a slice.
When I brought this up to the barista, who I actually liked as a professional as a result of being a regular here„ he acted as though I was being trivial about the matter. I know this is my perception, however, it’s all in the body language and the words and tone conveyed as well as he was turned half way around looking over his shoulder at me, instead of engaging my complaint. He seemed to be insincere about his apology on behalf of my concern.
Later, upon closing I stepped outside to sit in the outdoor area to smoke a cigarette. Yes, I smoke. I began a casual conversation with another patron Chris, and asked her if she minded me smoking. She said of course not. It was closing time and the barista upon seeing me light up from inside, made his way outdoors and made sure I was very aware. I could not smoke in the section I was sitting in and then walked back indoors. Was this a retaliation, a means of having some type of control? That’s how felt.
I give good reviews and am not trivial or petty as a critic, but felt that this was inappropriate if his reason was to instigate some sort of payback. What. Can say is that I love Dagney’s. I will still go here despite this barista who made an unpleasant situation uncomfortable for me. Please be mindful towards customers. You have known me as a regular, however when you approached me outdoors you spoke to me as if I was a stranger you had never even spoke to before or chatted with. Very disappointed.

I prefer this coffee shop because of it’s comfy atmosphere plus couches, good hot coffee and it’s the best coffee shop in town to buckle down and get my papers written. I am never disappointed in the friendly baristas who do know their coffees and their pastries.
On this visit I ordered a cheese egg hash brown omelette. pardon me I can’t remember the name. I also ordered a slice of cake. The omelette was amazing. The cake however tasted like a concoction of everything in the display case from other sweets to food. It was pretty rough to fork. Lol.
The barista did toss the last piece of cake from the case when. I shared my feedback, kind of grimacing and then apologizing about it’s flavor. Don’t think I will buy into another sweet from the case here. But the omelette, oh yeah definitely. Went to the grocery immediately and purchased all of the ingredients so I could duplicate it at home. How cool is that!

We love this local coffee shop downtown. Very friendly staff and laid back setting. Homey and kinda college coffee house feel all together. Reminds me a lot of my old college coffee house we love hanging out at. Decors, furnitures and fixtures aren’t all matching but that’s what makes this place unique. People hanging out here are cool too. I especially like their Chai drinks here. And my most recent discovery, the Mango Smoothie! Yum!!! So glad to know they make great smoothies too. Will try other flavors next time and get out of my comfort zone ordering the same drinks all the time! When we take the kiddos with us, they love purchasing their baked goods… Cookies are huge and the brownies are pretty big too! I’m a huge brownie fan and their brownies gets a 5-​star from me!

So I’ve been wanting to come here for quite some time now and so I convinced my husband to take me to grab some coffee.
As soon as we walked in, the setting caught my attention. It kinda reminded me of «Central Perk» from «Friends». It’s really comfy and the place just has a nice feel to it.
While we were here we also grabbed some breakfast. Whenever my husband and I go to places we usually order something different and then share so we can try different things. I ordered the sausage casserole and my husband ordered the vegetarian fritada. If I had to choose which one I would order again it would most definitely be the vegetarian fritada as it was very flavorful and delicious.
As far as our caffeine, I ordered the Cappuccino and my husband ordered the chocolate mocha latte, wow the cappuccino did it’s duty! It was strong and it was good! The chocolate mocha latte was not too sweet which I liked.
I do intend to come back as I absolutely love coffee. I am a regular coffee drinker as I require coffee daily in order to function. If you’re in the neighborhood you definitely should try this place out especially if you’re a fan of coffee!

Yes, yes, yes!!! I meant to try this place a long time ago, but I don’t make my way downtown much. Today, I finally did. At first, I was skeptical. I walked up and there was a huge group of smokers on the patio (not my style), but I just decided to hang inside instead. It was obvious that there are lots of regulars, which I love! I settled on some iced coffee. They sell an array of other things. I noticed pastries, beer, smoothies, tea, sodas… there was much more than I expected. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The regulars were friendly to me as a newbie. This seems like the kind of place you can go to study, hang out, or read. It appears that it is a popular spot from early in the AM all the way to sunset. The coffee was affordable and delicious. I will definitely be back. I can’t wait to try more things here!!!

Hundredth review! First off I love this place, it’s one of my favorites in Bakersfield. In terms of coffee, the place in fantastic. They are very knowledgable in roasts and beans. Their volcan is fantastic and they have a great menu. From breakfast casseroles, smothered in cheese and salsa, to bagels and smoothies, for those wanting a fix of something aside from coffee, this place appeals to people of different palates.
The staff is always very friendly and there is an extensive selection of books and board games. Great for spending a lazy evening.

The service here was fast and friendly much better then any bucks I’ve been too. wasn’t over priced coffee
