My Husband and I signed a contract with him back in the fall for my father-in-law. We gave him money in Nov. 2015 to draw up plans. The job should have been completed in March per the contract and we are now almost at the end of June. The job is not complete and all the money we have paid him has gone to other jobs. Jack stressed communication is key but can’t communicate with us. He is a thief and a lair. We have two children under the age of 10 and they can’t use our back yard because they leave it a mess. Also this job is being done on a Veteran’s home. DONOT use Jack. One of his main workers we truly enjoy working with and should go out on his own, the other main worker is just like Jack.

We started a project in November 2015 for a remodel and garage conversion. Jack presents himself as a follow through guy with lots of communication. This is not true. We do not have a completion date yet! Contract stated completion. March 1. Beware if looking for a contractor. I would not recommend him at all. One of his workers is really good and keeps his word. Jack Duncan not so much

I signed an agreement for a concrete slab and Alumawood patio cover in Sep 2015 for a new home in Bakersfield. The design is beautiful, but unfortunately the project is still awaiting final inspection due to an on going problem with the electrical(not with the city inspector). My contract states the last payment is due at final inspection, but that is to make sure all city codes are met, not that all work is done. Jack is nice, however this is a business relationship, and in my opinion, the follow-through is lacking. In my opinion(again) — go with a different contractor. …and make sure everything is noted in the contract, including estimated completion time. I might also suggest that the last payment is due at completion of ALL work, not due at final inspection.

My husband & I decided to use Jack Duncan to install an Alumawood patio cover. Initially, we went with him because we saw his website & after meeting him we liked his design idea & the fact that he boasted about being in business for 30 years with tons of experience & happy customers.(We weren’t able to find any reviews about him at the time, so I’m hoping this will be helpful to someone). I would NOT recommend him or use him ever again! He was very unprofessional, hard to communicate with, pushy & more focused on himself than us as the customer. He pressured us to sign the completion paperwork 3 days before the job was even done! And kept telling us how much money he had out in materials & how long it would take for him to get paid,(our job was financed though the HERO program). He even argued & tried to make us feel bad for not signing. Also, during construction, his builder left a huge 8 inch gap between the pieces that were supposed to overlap to create a covered patio. When we saw this & realized they intended to leave it that way we were very upset & they just continued working saying they built it the way it was designed. Jack eventually said they would fix it but we really had to push him to make it right. Also, the job took longer than he said & then took even longer because they ordered the wrong piece & had to wait for the correct one. And, once the job was completed, they left all the electrical coverings off for the electrical inspection & said they would come back on the same day the electrical inspection was done to button everything back up. But they never came until 2 weeks after the inspection! They also put the rain gutter in the dead center if our patio & instead of the water draining onto the grass, it dumps out onto our concrete & pools up creating a huge mess. Also, Jack said he would provide the Alumawood patio hooks for us & then never did. We contacted him about it for over one month & never got them. Jack Duncan is a liar. We are happy to have a completed patio cover for the summer, but wish we would have used someone more professional & honest who wouldn’t have been so stressful to deal with. Beware!
