I had a good first and second experience. Unfortunately this place let me down hard on my third visit. Food was horrible. All 3 dishes had something off about it. Im sure its not the same chef. 2 stars only because the server was good. Will not be going back

Great thai restaurant in downtown Bakersfield! This restaurant is good for a quick lunch or dinner. I was surprised that the space was large once I walked in. I got the red curry with pork for lunch. It comes with one freshly fried spring roll, rice, a side salad with house dressing and your choice of tea! It was a good portion meal with a variety of items. Now for the taste I thought this was very good, rich curry sauce! The staff was very friendly and make you feel like you’re home. Overall chill place and good food!

They have amazing phở! I’ve been here a few times and plan to continue coming. I’ve also had a few other items on their menu and everything tastes great. I highly recommend trying their Thai Iced Tea, so good.

One of my favorite spots in Downtown Bakersfield. They have an extensive menu with standard Thai food dishes but also ones you don’t see very often. I ordered the khao soi, it was delicious. The portion was large and you got a lot of food for the price. They have a very reasonable lunch menu, but I had to order the Khao Soi. I also learned it is a fun spot to hit on first Friday. They have a live band and stay open later. What’s better than Thai food and good music? The atmosphere is very pleasant and the service was great. I will be back soon to enjoy another bowl of Khao Soi.

I stopped by Jasmine & The New Taste(sounds like it could totally work as a funky band name) during lunch today. I believe this place has gone through a change in ownership/management since it first opened a couple of years ago, hence the slight name change. Much of the décor is pretty much the same but the menu is completely different. It’s huge. Not only in items offered but in actual physical size. I tried taking pictures of the updated menu but I failed miserably. Since it was still lunch hours, I took advantage of their very generous lunch menu. I ordered the Pad Thai lunch special which comes with a side salad, egg roll, and choice of either iced tea or Thai iced tea. All for under $ 8! Pad Thai is a pretty standard dish but this was actually one of the most delicious ones I’ve had in town. It had a slight kick to it which took me off guard but I really enjoyed. It was also the perfect lunch portion, enough to fill you up but not enough to make you want to nap under your desk. The egg roll was also a win! Tasted fresh, not frozen with a perfectly crispy outside. I could have eaten five of them easily. And to finish off this amazing meal was the Thai iced tea. It tasted more concentrated and less sweet, which is right up my alley! Overall I’m super excited to have found a new go-to restaurant! Plus, they’re open late! Woohoo!

My daughter picked up an order for me To-Go while we were working our booth at First Friday in April. I ordered the yellow curry fried rice with chicken and the sticky rice with mango for dessert. Both were delicious and huge portions. Seriously, the fried rice ended up feeding myself and then my daughter and her friend even had some. Warning — it’s spicy — but good! Whew, it opened my sinuses! I’m glad I also ordered a Thai Iced Tea to cool my mouth down between bites. We walked down there a few days ago on the 3rd of June and sadly their was a sign on the door that states they are closed for maintenance. So hopefully they will be open again soon as I have not found another Thai place in town that offers yellow curry fried rice on their menu — and at under $ 10 it was a bargain!

I have been eating here for a while, every time I stop in town for work travel, and the food has always been amazing! Service is GREAT. Tonight, I order Tom Kha soup to go and found 2 bugs inside my soup. Discussing! Just not acceptable at all. I don’t care how great it has been, insects in your food is NOT cool. It was my all time fav spot… until today!

I decided to try this since it was close to the courthouse. The restaurant is clean and reasonably stylish. Service was fast for lunch. I had the drunken noodles which tasted really good and fresh. I would have preferred more veggies and meat but it was good. If you say«Thai hot» they will give it to you. Price is reasonable.

This place is mine and my girlfriends to go Thai place! We made a stop there yesterday around 2 and the lunch specials were amazing! For about eight bucks you get your lunch entrée plus a salad, egg roll, rice AND Thai ice tea. You can’t get that anywhere else. And the food is always amazing no matter what. The Staff is great, we always get the same server. A younger woman who is sooooo sweet and quick. Don’t miss out on this place.

I found a little hidden gem in downtown Bakersfield. Well priced for delicious eats. I recommend the khao soi and the pad se ew; and if you havnt tried their pork jerky appetizer please get it! The décor is minimalist, and it’s not as fancy as its other Thai competitors. But I have no complaints on the taste.

Authentic Thai restaurant in Bakersfield. Food was good as I had the Thai Fried Rice, Thai Ice Tea and, sautéed string beans. You can pick your level of spicyness, from none, mild, medium, spicy, and Thai spicy. I had spicy and it was just right. Our waitress was great. Polite and letting us know that our table qualified for a fm free item. I forget the choices but we had the steamed dumplings and they were good. I will repeat when I’m in the area again.

We came here when they first opened and it’s not quite the same. The service is still good as everyone is friendly and attentive but I find the food has changed somewhat. When I first came here over a year ago, I raved over the Pad Thai. Now, not so much. I could hardly taste any peanut as it tasted bland on the noodles and there were no sprinkled peanuts, which to me should always be on Pad Thai or at least on the side. We also had the chicken Larb and although it was my first time having Larb, I thought it was decent but pretty salty and at times I would bite on something hard and gritty. Not sure what that was but my wife claims Larb shouldn’t be so salty and crunchy. Tea was good but I prefer the bags already in the pot and not on the table but that’s just my personal preference and no reflection on the restaurant. Overall not bad but nothing like before.

Wanted to try this place. It’s very clean. You can see the kitchen and the cooks cooking. The bathrooms are spotless. I had chicken chow mein lunch deal. Came with a salad, and a egg roll. I didn’t really like the egg roll but everything else was really good. I would defiantly come back. It’s delicious and the service is good!

I love this place! Bakersfield needed something new and jasmine & the new taste is great! Please be patient as they work on service kinks, because the food and quirky atmosphere are worth it! I am a traditionalist when it comes to Thai food. Papaya salad was on point, loved the drunken noodles and massaman curry. But my fav is the pork jerky sticky rice appetizer and the bbq taro dessert(special)! A must try and soooo affordable!

I was so hungry, ordered thai crab fried rice and crispy cream cheese for lunch. Great that it was delivered to the hotel! But I ordered my rice spicy and it wasn’t, then they sent the chili paste in a container… and told me I could add spice to it! Hmmm when I spend $ 15 for crab fried rice and I was very specific about what I wanted and it doesn’t come that way… I am not happy! The crispy cream cheese w/crab had faked crab in it… and wasn’t happy with that either… for the amount of crab that goes in one of those things, they can use real crab! So although I wasn’t happy… it was edible. I did call and complain and it is funny how people don’t know what customer service is… can you just try and make it right! I shouldn’t have to tell you how to make it right… if you care about your customers, that should be second nature, not a knee jerk reaction! And no… I don’t want free thai tea or egg rolls, I want my order the way I want it! So send the delivery guy to pick it up and bring it back to me after you recook my fried rice again… no I am hungry now! Thank you but no thank you! I will not be ordering from here again!

My girlfriend and I really like this place, and we like to visit Thai restaurants. The food was fantastic! Chicken larb, and red curry soup with chicken were our dishes. Things like the men’s bathroom being very clean is a nice touch. The one thing that detracted from the experience was that the staff started cleaning up before we left and the smell of pine-sol kind of put a damper on the experience.

This has become my favorite Thai restaurant in Bakersfield. Stumbled on it one day walking downtown looking for a lunch spot. Since then I have been back numerous times and brought co-workers, family and friends — they all love the food and clean atmosphere. The curry and pad Thai dishes are delicious as are the drunken noodles. The soups and phở are all great. Never had a bad meal here. Next to Jerry’s Pizza downtown. Prices are reasonable, too.

We were Referred here by one of our cousins. We have tried all the local Thai food places in town and have to say this spot is the best one in Bakersfield. It’s located next to Jerry’s pizza downtown on Chester. We ate there 3 consecutive days and tried the beef panang, pineapple curry, drunken noodles, pad Thai, pad see ew, and the tom yum soup. Everything was delicious! If you’re craving curry I highly suggest the beef panang. They also have the best Tom yum soup in town if your taste buds crave a spicy/sour soup. Highly recommend this place A+ quality, service, and taste.

I ordered the beef salad & chicken phở(soup) It was a burst of flavor in my mouth… Reminded me of the flavors in thailand. Since i’m thai, i tend to be a little picky where i eat. I was very happy with my meal. Portion size was generous, i love it when i hve leftovers for lunch the nxt day.

Quick delivery time! Very good prik king. The panang, while nice, was a bit sweet and didn’t have much punch. Not many surprises on the menu, its all the standard american thai standbys mixed in with a few New York style chinese entrees, but for what it is, its the better of what you’re going to get in Bakersfield.

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Bakersfield so far. I moved in the area in September and had the fortune to find this gem in downtown. In a weeks period I ate here 5 times. So I worked my way down there affordable lunch special menu and Im in shock. I don’t think there was a dish I didn’t enjoy. On a side note, the thai tea here makes me want to build a pool filled with it. I don’t care if the expense would be ludicrous, it tastes that good to me. My favorite dish has to be panag curry(spelling). I could eat this dish every day for a week and still not be tired of it. The staff is kind and attentive. Parking can be tough. If you’re in the area, give them a try.

Came here for lunch today with my friend. First impression was it’s an interesting old building. Next door to Jerry’s Pizza. They’ve painted and decorated in a 60’s style that looks really cool. It was very clean and comfortable. It smelled amazing and I couldn’t wait to order! We were both really hungry so we ordered quickly without looking too much at everything on the menu, but it was very expansive! I ordered the pad see ew with broccoli & carrots and a Thai tea. My friend got the tom kha gai with chicken and a side of white rice. Our server was polite and food was brought out hot and fresh, just the way I like it. It was deeeeeeeelicious!!! It was my friend’s second time having their tom kha but he raved about it like he’d never had it before. The Thai tea was delicious as it is everywhere. We didn’t end up getting dessert but I will definitely get the mango sticky rice next time. They also have a lunch special Monday through Saturday from 11 to 3 that includes an entrée, side of white or brown rice, a salad, a Thai or regular iced tea, and one egg roll for only 7.95!(Dine in only) but a wonderful deal. And they give you generous servings here too. I wish I didn’t take my leftovers home to my girlfriend who ate it all so I could be eating it right now. But I guess we’ll just have to go back :)

I love this little Thai place! It’s become my favorite noodle place downtown. In addition to being a great value(seriously, it’s almost impossible to walk out of here with a bill of more than $ 15 that covers an entrée, drink, and at least two meals worth of food), it’s quality food with some spot on flavors. Located on Chester near Jerry’s Pizza, Jasmine could be tough to find if you aren’t looking for it. They’ve recently expanded the front entry to include an old patio area. It’s still under construction, but the entry is no longer recessed back off the street. Décor is simple and clean — the overall feel is a casual food establishment. The kitchen is open enough to see the cooks, and there are abundant seats along the wall bench — great for small parties. I almost always get the pad thai, but have been pleased with the drunken noodles and red curry. Dishes aren’t too salty and usually have a good mix of flavors. By far my favorite thing about this place is that requesting a dish to be spicy means it will actually have some kick. It’s not a «you’ll regret this tomorrow» spice, but rather one that will leave you with a mild case of the sniffles. I often struggle to find places in town that serve thai food with a good deal of spice, and usually rely on overly heavy uses of sriacha and chili oil to kick up my dishes. Not so with this place. If you’re looking for a new place to grab lunch(my pick-up orders have always been on time and kept nice and hot until I get there) or pop in on First Friday, give Jasmine a try. The friendly service, excellent prices, generous portions and tasty food have my vote.

This is still a fairly new restaurant on the downtown area. Parking is limited to the street unless you want to park a touch further in one of the parking lots. There is a lot more to the restaurant than would appear from its unassuming front. Inside the décor is simple and clean. I like sitting at the side booths with the colorful pillows. Service is a bit slow but the food is solid. A tad more authentic than Noodle Bar if you ask me. The fried tofu is delicious in its simplicity. I enjoy the Larb salad, sometimes on its own. It is an interesting blend of spices. You have to enjoy lemongrass to like it though. The curries are great as well. The basics are available such as pad thai and pad-see-ewe(fried flat rice noodle with your choice of meat or tofu) on addition to the more interesting railroad chicken. Each table has its own spice dishes which include chili oil to personalize your dishes even more. Desserts include mango with sticky rice or fried banana rolls. Order the Thai iced tea for an intense pick me up– that thing has serious caffeine and sugar all in one! Worth a visit if you are around. If going during the lunch hour, make sure you have ample time as more often than not, they only have one cook in the kitchen.

My husband and I came here for dinner last night. We heard about this new restaurant in town; it’s located near Wall Street! Plenty of seating inside; we ordered the following items: (1) Drunken noodles — I ordered this dish and the flavors were decent, although greasy. It reminds me of the drunken noodles at Chef Noodle Bar; but it’s saltier here. :) The chicken tossed with the noodles was a bit chewy in some parts, I wonder why? (2) Pad Thai — my husband ordered this dish and couldn’t finish. haha… he said it was only decent, but not the best he’s had. I think he likes the one at Blue Elephant(in town) better. (3) Phở Dat(the 1st combo phở on the menu) — the broth was WAY too salty, you can’t possibly drink that. once the broth is salty, the noodles and everything else became salty as well. the meat items inside the broth were fresh though. Overall, we would rate the food somewhere in the range of 3 to 3.5 stars. It didn’t stand out when compared to some of the other thai and phở restaurants in town. Prices for phở are affordable though at only $ 6.95 for small or $ 7.95 for large.

Had dinner with friends a couple of nights ago and this place did not disappoint! The location of this quaint restaurant brings back a lot of memories to any Bakersfield native because it is nestled between Jerry’s Pizza and the old Vest Drug Store. The food is tasty, flavorful with generous portions. During this visit, my friends ordered some spring rolls and pot stickers for appetizers. The flavor of each of those items was tasty and delicious. For entrees my buddy and I ordered the Phô Tom Yum. To describe that in one word it would have to be YUM! Every component and element in that soup meshed well together. My other friend ordered the Tom Kha Kai which smelled divine and looked delicious. According to her, it was a great choice of food. I would give this place 5 stars… but I’ll wait until my 2nd visit… that way, I can judge it by their drunken noodles and Thai iced tea. Until then, I’ll hold on to that last star. If you like great Thai or Vietnamese food, I highly recommend this place!
