Best chili cheese fries on the planet. The tuna melt is amazing. Kathy and Bob are great people. You should definitely stop in and give this place a try. I highly recommend it.

Mom and pop shop great tasting food with a home feel. Nice and clean customer service outstanding pricy but we must keep places like these alive! We will return to support home feel good food!

Went here to continue exploring east side restaurants. We were very hopeful to try out their burgers! We ordered a beer, decent selection. Looks like the owner has a weird sense of inappropriate humor, we got a serving of passive aggressive remarks about cleaning his restroom? Uncomfortable with particular ethnicities, perhaps? Umm, regret leaving a tip. His wife tried saving the day, sweet woman! Left a bitter taste in our mouth. Pretty sure we are not going back again, we are taking our money elsewhere.

It’s a clickey place. Burgers are Good. The Owner Needs. More Personal Skills. It’s always the same people in there so there’s not a lot of new arrivals. its a two Star not four.

I guess this is their subtle way of telling us that they don’t wash their hands after cleaning the toilets then making our drinks and meals. This is seriously in the rest room above the men’s toilet! (See attached picture)

I don’t think this place qualifies as a «bar» at all. It’s beer/​wine only, and doesn’t have anything near ‘bar hours’. It’s a restaurant, that has draft beers. The prices are seriously awesome, and the service was ok. I didn’t like that I sat under a cork board where tons of anti-​Obama, very thinly veiled racist propaganda has been placed (I’m guessing by various patrons) over the years. I didn’t see the sign by the front door reading «White racist Tea Party jerks only», I suppose. If you can get past that– the beer was good and cold. The burgers were nowhere near as good as I expected, having read previous reviews, and I had to pay extra to get French fries with my burger, as everything here is served with a bag of potato chips.

One of those best kept secrets.
I have eaten at the Lie-​N Den for years and years. Talk about a gem, the owners work the place and treat you like family. The food is always good. I have only been here as a lunch stop and I tend to get the same thing every time. As a creature of habit I always get that Ortega Burger. I have also had the chili and its super good.
I dont get to go there as often now days because my once meet eating work partner has gone to the veg side. Hmm thinking about the Den is making me want a hamburger now!
Great good, great people, and comphy amosphere. Cant loose here! Go, now!

Love burgers, love beer, like Bob. great place fantastic. wooden nicklels great idea! I Take people there that have never been there and they say where the heck are you taking me but everybody leaves happy! Coldest beer in town! And it only took 40 years to install a deep fryer!

Good old fashion neighborhood burger barn with a few extras. This place has been around for years and still consistently serves time honored food.
I love the straight chili which is a ground beef based chili without beans. You can get the same style chili with beans. They are famous for their chili sizes and a whole size is plenty for the hungriest of people. Their steaks are not too shabby either.
This is a beer and wine only joint. They owners and staff are friendly and the patrons being mainly longtime customers are usually all friendly too.
Well worth the stop for some great burger joint style food.

Tuna melt. Frito boat. Chili size. Pastrami sandwich. Whatever the soup of the day is. Cold beer. An iced tea that never gets empty. You can’t go wrong here for an excellent grilled bar-​style lunch. The reviews I’ve read praising the burgers all make them sound really good, I just haven’t gotten past my favorites yet.
If you’re from Bakersfield, count on running into somebody you know, or who grew up with your dad, or at least recognizing a famous Bakersfield racer in the photos lining the walls. It’s a small room, but there are two big TV’s hung strategically, so you get the whole sports bar vibe in a little hometown bar and grill.
Go have a burger and a cold one!

i have driven past this place my entire life and never been in. i read about the burgers and had to try them. lets just say «amazing» everything is awesome. try the onion rings
