Ryan’s Toy Connection

I drift into this place from time to time. I love it. I go into this place with a whole mental list of things to check out and go completely blank once I walk in due to the sheer selection of toys. I love it.

A lot of inventory. So much stuff crammed inside you can’t see anything! Used to go there once a month, won’t go back. Can find the goods faster and cheaper on the internet and not have to worry about a wal lk of boxes falling on me.

This one time, I saw a guy who may or may not have been Ryan…
This one time, I saw a guy who may or may not have been Ryan or Ryan’s father in the toy aisle at Walmart. It was circa ’96 and I was desperately searching for the Princess Callista action figure from Xena: Warrior Princess (you know, the rare variant with the spinning attack). Needless to say, this figure was NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE to find!
I just happened to be at Walmart, perusing Guns and Ammo in the magazine section, and I noticed from the corner of my eye that the toy aisle was being restocked. I immediately tossed aside the magazine and sprinted like a gazelle (but not just an average one but rather a gazelle that had been breed specifically for running fast inside department stores) to the the Xena section.
As I approached, I could see clear as the clearest day that my long sought precious Callista figure was INDEED IN STOCK! But alas, before I could get there, HE appeared.
This HE of which I speak is the man who may or may not have been Ryan or his father. Like a thief in the night (not just an average thief, but one that has been a thief for years and has NEVER BEEN CAUGHT), this man, who may or may not have been Ryan or Ryan’s dad grabbed my beautiful Callista with such carelessness that I nearly fainted. That’s when THINGS GOT WEIRD! AND INTENSE!
Using my extensive training and experience, I immediately unleashed a Psychatog which, of course, caused 6 points life damage to this person that may or may not have been Ryan or Ryan’s father. Much to my surprise and chagrin, the person that may or may not have been Ryan’s father retaliated with Adarkar Wastes, which (for those of you who don’t know, is a nonbasic land that does damage when tapped). I could see that this person who may or may not have been Ryan or Ryan’s father DID NOT PLAY AROUND! I won’t bore you with the details, but this battle went back and forth for nearly an eternity until I finally got the break I needed. I was able to summon Nevinyrral’s Disk, destroying anything and everything in sight. The good news: the person who may or may not have been Ryan or Ryan’s father was PWNED FTW! The bad news: my precious Callista suffered a similar fate.
Come to think about it, this person must not have been Ryan or Ryan’s father, because I’m pretty sure both of those people are still alive.
Overall, Ryan’s Toy Connection is a cool place to buy Starting Lineup act

Love the store 5 stars but really dislike the older gentlemen he is extremely rude. Unfortunately every time I go he’s there he really needs to work on his customer service.

Was in town for business and stumbled in. Absolutely incredible collection of toys. The cars alone are world class.

True toy store — Been here a few times and never disappointed. Great selection for all ages and price ranges.
They have collectibles and high end stuff from years past and they have a nice selection of newer things as well. They also always have a good variety of simple toys sp my boys get to pick something out each time we visit as well.
I wish Ryan would expand so it wasnt so cramped but he has a good thing going and knows it

I’ve been to this place many times and I enjoy each time. The store has a decent selection of toys ranging from Hot Wheels to Barbie’s and a wonderful selection of action figures. The store is tiny, considering the amount of toys they have cramped in there (it’s tight). I love the small set up though… there’s a Star Wars room, a sports room, and a Hot Wheels/​Matchbox room. I’m a huge Marvel fan and my kid is a huge Wrestling fan and this place has a good portion of rare and hard to find figures. I was also surprised to also see a small section of vintage He-​Man, which I loved as a kid (it took me back). The list could go on and on… If your looking for some hard to find toys that you can’t find at your average Toys R Us or Target, definitely come here. Just be prepared to pay a little more than you would at many department stores. I think it would be safe to say that, this is the best toy store in Bakers for any toy collector!!!

This company buys from local retail to resale at a higher price. So I cannot get the toys for my children at a decent price without shopping online. I am all about supporting local businesses like this one, but not if they are in the business of ripping their customers off. They’ll go buy all of a certain doll, ex. Monster high, from Toys R Us or Target so we cannot get them at the store, and can only get it from them.

Loved this toy store. Now this is what you call a toy store. They have a bunch of toys, cars and novelty pieces. I was so amazed with the selection. If you ever are in downtown Bakersfield this is the place to go for unique and different types of toys. Beat that Toys’R’us!!!
