This place most definitely leaves a lot to be desired. On our first time here, me and my better half came expecting something different and tasty… But what we got instead was slop. I ordered a chicken sandwich, or their upscale version of a chicken sandwich, and it was filled to the brim with iceberg lettuce. It was absolutely disgusting and fell apart like a soggy newspaper. My better half had some type of pasta dish which looked edible, but most definitely wasn’t the best experience. We haven’t been back yet, but maybe the place will redeem itself if we do go back. I will say though that: 1. Their customer service is fantastic. Great people! 2. Their wine selection was decent, and they offered an excellent way to serve our wine we brought from home. 3. The wait to be seated wasn’t any wait at all. Overall, it wasn’t the best experience food-wise.

This is our first time here, we expected more. The food was great, I had the filet and my gf had the halibut special. The service however wasn’t good at all. Our server never came back to the table to check on anything, we had to flag him down for everything, and he didn’t know the menu very well. Glad the manager was there to check on us and give us better service.

The atmosphere was lovely. The staff were phenomenal. I ordered the New York Sizzle and the steak was too tough to cute. I also had the lemon taragon risotto, which my favorite, and mixed veggies, very bland. The waiter asked if I was going to take my steak as I barely touched it. I told him no thanks because it was too tough and grisly to eat. He made it right by getting me another full dinner of the filet and risotto to take home. And while we waited, he treated us to crème Brule. That’s great customer service! We left him a substantial tip!

We went to Steak and Grape for dinner. This was after much debate that they have had a hard time wowing us in the past. We decided to go ahead because S&G is close to home. Gregorio was our waiter and did a good job. His help(both of them) need more training. My wife ordered Martini Chicken. She liked the dish. I ordered Steak Salad. The steak quality would probably compare to Sizzler, Golden Coral, or something you might get on a budget airlines, but I wouldn’t know. I hate to spend good money for low quality food. The steak and sauté d onions were cold and quite frankly, once again I was very disappointed. I know 2 of the owners and thought they wanted a better restaurant than this. I feel that Bakersfield restaurants like the Mark and Steak & Grape have lowered their quality and I might rather take my family and out of town clients to a chain restaurant like Tahoe Joes. I am very ashamed and disappointed $ 80.00 spent for 2. This was a poor decision.

Service is always great! They are quick and never leave you waiting! The nachos are the best and of course the sweet potato fries! We have been here many times and it is consistently wonderful!

Just had lunch there. The service was really great from the hostess to the server. Ordered two pasta dishes and well they were pretty bland… not bad or terrible just bland. If the cooks would taste the sauces this would be caught before it left the kitchen. The men’s room had zero TP. Once aging nothing terrible but if the management would really look things over a bit more closely this place would have a 4 star rating. It really is a beautiful place inside.

So I welcomed the new year 2016 in this incredible restaurant. We made our reservations at 9pm and believe we were the last seated. Since we were the last ones eating which I felt bad. Anyways our table wasn’t ready so we headed to the bar area which is very laid back. While I was taking my obligatory new years picture with my sister, there was a waitress popping a bottle. Since I think my sister is the most beautiful being and loved her outfit. I INSISTED for her to take off her jacket. WELL, when she moved, BOOM, a CORK flys pass ME(doesn’t hurt me) right where my sister was standing prior! Lol its funny now because we didn’t get hurt. But PLEASE be careful staff. Finally got seated but didn’t have our silverware. I wasn’t sure if we got until we had our food but it was a very very minor detail. It’s okay I know it was a busy night. For the food I had the beef tips and ordered a salad as an add on. I wasn’t expecting the side salad to be like entrée size but it was good. The entrée in my picture doesn’t look the greatest nor when I saw it BUT it TASTED Delicious. The zucchini was a tad cold but it wasn’t a big deal the tips were hot enough. I ate it all with no regrets. My sister had the lobster macncheese which I had a bit. It tasted like Christmas. My brother in law had the prime rib and it looked good. For dessert we had the pizookie it was like $ 10? OMG this thing was huge and yummy! Three scoops of icescream you can imagine it for yourself. As we finished we headed towards the bar area to receive the new year and the service was excellent as well. We made sure there was no waiters popping bottles lOl. Overall great experience to eat here for the first time and welcome a new year.

Been looking for a nice steak place here in town for a while and someone recently told me about Steak & Grapes. With a special guest coming in from town, I decided to make reservations here with my out of town guest and my children. The Ambiance: it was nice but it seemed like they did not complete the renovations or remodel(perhaps they ran out of money?). One side was nicely decorated with the ceiling nicely done. On the other side, where we were seated, the ceiling were plain drop down white ceiling tiles. But overall it wasn’t bad at all. It could definitely be worse. The Service: our waitress was great! We had limited time and needed to get out within 45 minutes. She made her recommendations and got the order in quickly and the food came out in a very timely manner. She was also very kid-friendly and served my kids with excellence. Her service was excellent! The Food: our waitress recommended the New York Steak Sizzle that was served on a cast iron sizzling platter with lemon butter topped over it. The dish came with a couple sides of your choice. I had their green beans and masked potato, which was good. We also tried their onion rings which was very good. The steak was cooked excellent– medium rare and was very flavorful. They also had a children’s menu which I was very pleased with. They ordered the burger(huge) and fries. The next time I go, I will be ordering the Rib-eye. Overall feedback and recommendation: I recommend this place for sure as I will be taking my wife on our next date night. The New York Sizzle was great and they also have a variety of other steaks. I was told that all their steaks are prime grade, which is a rare find in Bakersfield. With the price point, quality of food and presentation, and the service, my personal experience was great! Give it a shot and enjoy. I called and made reservations for 5:15pm. When I arrived, there was hardly anybody there but I am not sure what their lunch crowds look like or their weekend evenings. Make reservations just in case even though they can seat a ton of people in there.

A local strongly recommended this restaurant to me, and I’ve been here several times and have always had a wonderful meal! It’s in a stip mall, by the Vons. Despite the less than glamorous setting, the atmosphere itself of the restaurant is very nice, made even more so recently. The restaurant was expanded. I really like the bar area. With the expansion, booths have been added to the bar area. It’s a fabulous place to sit — comfortable, informal… and you can get everything on the regular menu AND benefit from the happy hour menu. On Sundays, happy hour is all day. There is also free wi-fi. I tend to work while I eat; though it’s probably unhealthy to do this. But this is my preferred way of working… Importantly, the food is very good and I’ve always been very pleased with my selections. Twice I’ve gotten the salmon salad, which is delicious. The grilled artichoke is very good too, though it is drizzled with cheese, something I don’t care for. I end up scrapping off, but still delicious. We really loved the sausage stuffed mushrooms. My friend got one of the chicken dishes — I wish I could remember the name of it — but she loved it, and she is picky! lol… My fiancé ordered the osso bucco the last time he was here — and that was incredible. It has a lot of delicious sauce, and I believe we ordered an extra side of pasta to go with it. Yummy and a lot of wonderful left overs to take home My favorite dish here is the rib-eye … I’ve gotten that the last two times I’ve gone. It typically is NOT served on the sizzle plate with garlic buttah — but if you ask for it, they will serve it that way. ASKFORITTHATWAY! It’s so delicious… Nice well stocked bar. They also have a nice selection of terrific lunch and dinner specials(before 6:00 p.m.) that are priced from $ 10-$ 12. There is plenty of parking… And despite it being very popular, I’ve never had to wait, which is cool. I know that others have commented on the service as not being attentive but the last few times I’ve gone, the service has been really terrific.

This is a review for Mothers Day brunch. Very tasty, and the service was top notch. We arrived on the later side for brunch, near 1pm, in a group of five humans and a puppy. They plopped us at a high-top table outside and brought us a plastic bowl for doggy water. Very high marks for that move. Very high. I love my dog. The brunch food was good, if perhaps a bit predictable. No real demerits for that. Brunches are pretty normalized these days. The prime rib carving station was outstanding. Great, great meat. Kudos. The omelette bar was solid, as well. I also found the bacon in the bacon tray to be cooked perfectly. It was a nice, thick cut and just a little softer so you can really let the bacon flavor do its thing. The price was maybe a bit high for what you get, but that’s probably an issue with brunches everywhere(besides downtown Vegas, I guess). I would definitely like to go back and try this place for a regular sit-down meal.

Man we have been eating out a lot. I would say based off of service alone it is worth the 5 stars. The server we had was great and gave some good recommendations. I feel I know my steaks but the waiter was very informative in regards to how to have my steak served even with the sizzling plate. The atmosphere is casual but if you want to dress up there is no problem pulling it off at this establishment. The appetizer we had(sorry no pictures this time it was date night) was their grilled artichoke and it was outstanding. You also must try the beans they serve with the bread it sounds a little weird but they were rediculous. The wife had the rosemary chicken with vegetable and she said is was a little dry but they made up for it on the flavor. I had the 18oz ribeye on the sizzling plate which was cooked to perfection. The place is a must try for a good steak in town, especially if you have a gift card. See you around town Unilocalers.
