The place is cute, but the owner is rude and unfriendly. She was disrespectful towards us and unaccommodating. Her behavior toward local customers was unacceptable and detracts from the experience at an otherwise quaint establishment. In addition to her negative demeanor, she handled food without gloves and refused to put a lid on a to-go cup which was overflowing. She then proceeded to throw the lid in our direction and serve another customer. Overall, it is unfortunate that a neighborhood gem is tainted by her misconduct.

I’m going to tell you when one thinks of cool, progressive, interesting place to hang out on the Mainline, the destination of Bala Cynwyd is not first and foremost on people’s minds. Now that the Bala movie theater is gone, as well as that cool antique jewelry store I never went into on my way to see a film at the Bala, I, too, was overlooking Bala Cynwyd as a destination for a cool, hip, artsy yet happy place. Yet there is such a place where happiness, joy & fun can be found. The Cynwyd Station café is the vision of Sadie(whom reminds me of the woman in the painting«A Bar at the Folies-Bergère» by Édouard Manet). Sadie has worked for years with love and passion to transform the Bala Cynwyd train station stop into a great Victorian ice cream shoppe with cool d.i.y. merchandise from independent artists and crafts people from Philly to Brooklyn as well as great food products– raw honey, nut butters, boozy jam spreads, handmade trail mixes, great ice cream & sorbets, cakes, cookies– and wow! gluten free-ones too, candles, hand made soaps, jewelry, children’s toys & so much more. All eco– friendly, hand made by people who care. This spot is lovely for meeting up with friends and is a great place to gather for community centered activities. Sadie has many cool events lined up for this summer– films, music, games & more. and her goal is to bring happiness to Bala Cynwyd, the Mainline & beyond. This is why I love this place and I think Sadie is great. She pours her heart and soul into the Cynwyd Station café to bring people together and spread love & happiness. She gets it. I wish there were a million more people like her on the Mainline. Fabulousness in Bala Cynwyd: thy name is Cynwyd Station Café! Bless you Sadie.

Found this place when walking on the Cynwyd trail. Initially I stopped in to get water for me and my puppy. The woman working that day was so kind! Got fresh water for my pup and was more than happy to let me bring her inside with me to get a cup of water. I’m gluten free, so imagine my surprise when I saw all the gluten free treats they have! I didn’t have my wallet with me, but I stopped by later that same day and bought a gf brownie and gf lemon tart. Absolutely delicious! Everyone here is so friendly and the food is delicious, what more could you ask for?

The old train station and the beautiful wood tea bar make for a nice ambiance. The groupon worked for me — brought 2 friends on different occasions & shared the groupon. I bought some unusual Christmas presents here and presents to self. Owner, Sadie, makes homemade soaps and body creams with top quality ingredients. Her calendula healing balm is at my desk at work to use as a lip balm and it has healed. Rose soap is delightful I’m gluten free & the lavender shortbread is amazing! I’m meeting another friend on Sunday — also a gluten freer. She has a short menu — haven’t tried yet. This business deserves to do well — unique and alternative. Coffee is delicious, reasonable priced. Great to support a local business rather than the Starbucks. Give it a try!

A cozy, local warm atmosphere to relax with tea and a book, or to meet with friends. Plus the Cynwyd Station Café is a much needed hub for community events — yoga, music, game nights, etc. LOVE. this place, so glad it’s here on the Main Line. Please be nice to it; there’s nothing else like it.

This is the most absolute adorable wonderful tea place on the main line! I do not know any other welcoming place. The pricing is fair, considering that everything is Eco-friendly. Love the assortments of tea, soda, coffee, and ice cream! yum! Anyone who complains about the pricing clearly does not understand the needs in order to have satisfying products. THISIS the place to be for a SPOTOFTEA ;)

You will NOT find anyplace like this in the vicinity, that’s for sure. It’s a locavore eco-friendly hipster paradise. Love– excellent friendly service, adorable space in a renovated train station building, tons of cute eco-friendly-oriented and local food items and gifts in the retail section, welcoming indoor and outdoor seating areas. The prices were questionable– $ 3.75 for a chocolate chip cookie? Really? I would definitely come back for tea, a bit of gelato or to the retail shop if I needed a hipster gift. I’ll stay away from the overpriced food items except for special occasions.

This place is worth a visit for the cute décor and curiosity shop, I would just suggest avoiding the Groupon deal. I visited this café after purchasing a Groupon deal. It was $ 11 for 2 Groupons valued at $ 10 each to be used for 2 separate visits. When I got to the café, there was a sign by the register stating that the Groupon was worded incorrectly. It is a deal for $ 4.50 off of your $ 10 purchase with the Groupon. So I handed the owner a Groupon with a promotional value of $ 10 and a cash value of $ 5.50 and she gave me $ 4.50 off if my $ 18 order. I knew that this was wrong, but I didn’t want to argue with her in front of everyone. It’s possible that she meant to say that I would get $ 9 off of a $ 20 order, but $ 9 is still less than the promotional value of the Groupon. She never offered the option of adding $ 2 to my order to get $ 9 off. This could have been a nice experience, but I ended up feeling angry and screwed over for the whole time that I spent here. The spiced vegan cold chocolate drink was something that the person behind the counter concocted on the spot. It was thick and bitter, but drinkable. My boyfriend ordered that and he didn’t like it, but he probably could have asked for it to be modified. The vegan brownie was moist, but bland and not sweet enough. The vegan passion fruit smoothie was very good. I don’t think those three items were worth $ 18-$ 19 dollars. I do appreciate the fact that the owners are environmentally friendly and supporting the community.

While the place is cute and environmentally friendly, the owner/operator leaves a lot to be desired. She is haughty, arrogant and unfriendly. The hours are odd and the prices are a bit high. The tables are very uncomfortable and so is the unwelcoming vibe. The café has been eagerly awaited for years and it’s a nicely decorated space and great idea. Too bad Sadie is not worth coming back for. Bummer!
