County of Los Angeles Public Library – Baldwin Park Library

The Good: New modern-​recently remodeled library, 4 private study rooms, ergonomic chairs, computers, children’s area, bike parking and helpful staff
The Bad: Car parking can be difficult if going after 2:00pm, small library so not a huge variety of books but they can request a book from anywhere in LA County, closed Mondays!
I recommend: If you want a quiet place to work/​study weekdays before 3:00pm are best.

the parking situation is very bad in the evening horrible better of parking on the street the inside is nice lots of computers for kids and adults i wish that they would have more accelerated reading books in spanish very limited knowing that schools are pushing for kids to do accelerated reading and testing not only on English books but also in spanish for those kids the dual language. program please stock up in more ar spanish books

My 5 stars goes to the library its 2015 upgrades have really improved the environment inside it’s very spacious now they have plenty of computers for adults and children there’s a lot of sitting a lot of tables couches they also have private study rooms that are large enough to fit a group you can check out your own books they have a copy machine a nice size bathroom the entrance is really great especially for handicapped they also have a lot of events during the week and things to do after school and on the weekend it’s more friendlier now much cleaner. In 20 014 this Library was a mess and really needed upgrades when they closed the library down that’s when they were doing the upgrades anywho I gave this library 5 stars now… I recommend this library to anyone in the local areas around Baldwin Park and in Baldwin Park again there’s plenty of computers I don’t even need to sign up for a computer I could just walk in and go to the computer and that’s my favorite part about this library… LOTS OF COMPUTERS.

Biggest Headache EVERRRRRR
Long story short: make sure your books are checked in when you turn them in. Avoid the headache I just had to deal with.
Long story long:
I turned in a book (well before the due date), got an email reminder a week later saying my due date was approaching, asking if I wanted to renew it.
I called the library and spoke with someone who told me the book was never turned in (she claims to have physically checked the shelf) but they would make a note on my account and we had three months for it to «show up» or else I would be held responsible, even though I gave her an exact description of the person I turned it in to, date and time (this was my first time turning a book in at this location, I am sure I was not confused).
Fast forward a month later, I stopped by the library to check the status. I was told the book was not found and I would have to pay for it. An employee went to go check the shelf and claimed he did not find it. So I went to look myself and what do ya know, THE BOOK WAS ON THE SHELF.
Never again, BP Library… Never again…

Good remodel. Thats it.
Its like being at the PO, or DMV.
I hadnt been here since before the remodel, and service was quick. Now the clerks seem indifferent to the long lines and they are very slow.
Avoid this place try a different library.

What happened!!! It’s my first time in since the remodel and I can’t help but notice the glaring lack of books. Fiction has been relegated to maybe 4 short stacks while the study area, children’s and foreign language sections have been expanded. I guess it’s a great place to come if you’re a high school student working on a project. Otherwise, stick to the Duarte or West Covina branches for your library needs.

Finally re-​opened on Sept 2, months later than was widely announced. Hours are approx. the same as before the renovations, still closed Sun-​Mon.
What’s the most useful thing about this place? The ability to order good books from other libraries. Self-​check out is always a bonus. Open power outlets, shared desk space, ~30 public computer stations are available, limit to 2 hours per day (an hour at a time). 10 pages free printing per day (b&w printers only).
If you’re looking for better selection of on-​shelf children’s books, movies, magazines, audio-​books, etc. or longer hours try the larger 2-​story West Covina branch. The librarians are more helpful there too.
Something I had forgotten: LA county library cards (the green ones) are valid for three years and can be renewed by calling or visiting a branch. You’ll also need to set a PIN to access the free wifi, computers, etc.

Smaller than most of other libraries I’ve been to. Computers are available both in the adult and children’s sections. They have videos for rent as well, a lot cheaper too, but not too many selections of the newer films.
It’s good that people who come here follow the rules. I haven’t had problems with noise or people looking for trouble.
Stepping outside is altogether a different thing. They have Private parking as well as a few street spaces.
