Liquor Express

It’s very refreshing to find a large liquor store in the Syracuse area with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. I stopped in for some Scotch and was shown the good stuff right away (it’s in a locked cabinet) and not just directed to pile of flavored American pseudo whiskeys as many store owners have sent me before. There was also a decent bourbon selection.
At checkout the clerk asked me more about my whiskey preferences and invited me to a high-​end Scotch tasting in the coming months. This was going above and beyond to keep a new customer, and I appreciate that.
I purchased a bottle of Laphroaig 10 at a very good price. They also had the only Lagavulin 16 I’ve seen anywhere in the Syracuse area. I will absolutely be back here in the future.

For a great liquor store in Baldwinsville, we thought Express Liquor on Genesee Street was pretty good. They have one of the larger selections of alcohol in stock in the area. New York State alcohol prices are through the roof though compared to Massachusetts and California, but we understand it’s not the fault of the establishment… taxes!

3 stars for having a wide selection of wine & spirits.
–1 star for not having any knowledgeable wine connoisseurs on staff
–1 star for jacking up prices once you’re a regular and shop for a certain kind of wine/​vintage.
I regularly bought a bottle of fine wine (same year) for $ 54.99 and all of a sudden they claimed a wine shortage in California combined with a supply and demand for that bottle and raised the price by $ 6. I was the only demand for that bottle. Sad that I will no longer be buying wine from there.
