I have never, EVER, encountered a company with worse service than Advanced Disposal. Their voice recording is slick, promises the moon but the reality is they are a disorganized company… never returning phone calls despite their saying they will call back the same day. Sometimes they pick up trash. Sometimes they fly by the house leaving everything at the curb. A customer cannot… CANNOT…reach a supervisor. No wonder the city of Novi did not pick them for the city-​wide service. They should get out of the business. Why would anyone stay with them?

For around 3 weeks running our trash has not been picked up on our scheduled Friday pickup day. This means my trash sits in my driveway as they will randomly turn up to collect it when it’s convenient for them. Last time I decided to bring my trash back in and get a call on Monday saying they are coming by to pick it up that day, problem being I was at work and had no way of getting my trash out in time so I have 2 weeks worth of pick up now. Their customer service never answers either.

Our previous trash collection service was purchased by Advanced Disposal over a year ago. The service remained good until the first week of January. We have had 4 pickups in 15 weeks and all but the first pickup has required multiple calls and promises for the Operations Manager to return my call but still waiting — 3 months and counting. We are cancelling the service but had to wait until the end of the 3 month billing cycle as they say they cannot issue credits for early cancellation. Now low and behold, they sent us a letter to cancel our service as they «will no longer be able to service your residence» and will be issuing a refund for the unused service period. They stated they will send a removal truck to pick up my container in a «timely manor (sic)».
Not sure what has happened with this company and specifically my route but for 2016 they receive a major fail.

My prior refuse collection company, whom I’ve had for years sold their account to Advanced Disposal. My service has gone from good to poor/​non-​existent. In the last 4 weeks, the company has missed 3 garbage pickups from my curb!
I have sent a notice to A.D. to cancel my service. I’ve already switched providers to a more reputable company.

The worst of the worst trash/​recycle outfit. These clowns bought my route fro Cycle Works several months ago @ my Roswell Georgia residence. They continue to leave my bins half full after weekly pickup. I have called them four times. nice girl on the phone, however the same crappy service continues. Switching back to WM next cycle!

Our trash company sold our account to Advanced Disposal (who we have had problems with in the past before they were our provider) and I have never been so unimpressed in my life. Our recycling was not picked up and I was told «oh — yeah– that route is a day behind» like it is no big deal. I also complained about the cans being left in the middle of the road lying on their sides and was met with another nonchalant response. I get home today to find that the recycling has finally been picked up… however my trash can (one of the few remaining upright and out of the roadway) was still half full of trash. Really? Do you not dump the can upside down to get all the trash out? So now I have to call again… I am going to cancel, and suggest that our whole neighborhood do the same. And as for the no refunds policy we will see what they say about it after I call the Better Business Bureau or dispute part of the charge with my credit card company. They were paid in advance to pick up the trash and recycling… ALL of it. This company IS garbage.

After waiting on hold for a very long time I gave up and filled out their online form to get pricing information for service to my new address. Within 30 minutes they had sent me a spam e-​mail. This happened over two weeks ago and my question about pricing remains unanswered. Needless to say I won’t be using their service.

Here I am, a year and a half later, and I have more poor customer service to report on this company. I canceled my service at the time of my last review, January 2013. Just this year I had this company shoved down my throat by my HOA, despite the protests of many residents. Now, my entire community, some 200 homes, all have the same trash can which are to be picked upon the same day. YET… Advanced Disposal was unable to pick them all up, and left some full on the customers’ curbs, because they had «new people» on the route. How can they miss these cans when every single can in the community is out for pick up by them, their can labeled with their name? I recommend you use Republic Services, 678−963−2800, if you need good, reliable service and a company with excellent customer service

Here’s the gist. Going on vacation for two weeks, want to put garbage on hold, call A.D. to request hold, told that the minimum hold is 4 weeks. Ask if we will get $ 7.50 credit to our bill since we won’t be utilizing two weeks worth of service, told no refunds. We pay three months in advance because that is their requirement. First representative tells us we’ve already paid whether we use it or not. So we say, just cancel our service starting today. She says we’re paid through December so it won’t be canceled until the 31^st but they will come tomorrow to pick up their bins (2 weeks before the 31^st) Ok fine. We check our records and find out we paid in November for 3 months, so we call back and receive another representative who says we are paid through January. We ask if we’ll get a refund for January since we just called an hour before and canceled. He says there is no cancellation action in our file. And again, no refund. You either use it or lose it. Ok, time for someone with a little more sense please. Finally, Alicia? Surpervisor perhaps? gets on the phone and says no refund, but that we can put our account on hold for two weeks and that the time period we paid for in advance will be extended two weeks. That’s what we asked for in the beginning when we were told it was a 4 week hold minimum. Oh my goodness. They can prorate my bill when I sign up in the middle of the month but it takes 2 hours and 3 people to figure out how to credit my account for two weeks of non use. This company is backwards in time. Alicia did explain that the representative were both new hires, we requested more training. Much more training please. As for the refuse collectors themselves. They’ve done a great job. Always on time, and haven’t retaliated when I’ve put out numerous bags of leaves much to their chagrin I’m sure. To sum it up:
Collectors — awesome (deserve a raise)
Representatives — untrained monkeys answering the phone would have made me happier
Company protocol — bass ackwards
