I only drink the canned seltzer that they get from Safeway, and I generally only go here to hear Caleb Stine and friends play — but it is friendly and welcoming. I am old but good natured.

My favorite bar in Baltimore. Great atmosphere, people, music and awesome bartenders(Kenny and Erin)!

Can’t beat it. Good beers, good people, cheap, love coming here to watch the O’s. Don’t like the one bartender, but haven’t seen her in a minute so I’ll say, come one, come all.

Lowering my review of this place, on two occasions this month I’ve stopped in on Saturday nights to find no bartender. To be clear, I’m don’t mean she was busy with other customers, or in the back changing a keg. Just straight up no where to be found for 5−10+ minutes. Apparently taking extended smoke breaks from the side entrance as I passed right by her both time I walked out.

The 1919 kind of feels like a secret that shouldn’t be shared on places like Unilocal, but at the same time, I want it to do well. Dilemmas. This is the real deal, a dive bar that is not trying to be a dive bar. This is the place to go for people that are unpretentious and comfortable about their true selves. Completely authentic and great live music with a honky tonk bent(not that WPOC crap). No food, no craft beers(except Sierra Nevada Pale), no bar filled with bs flavored vodka, no blender frozen drinks. I always feel better about my fellow mankind after leaving this place. Let’s hope it never changes.

Disclaimer: I think any bar named after it’s address is automatically awesome. It might be the best thing going for it. So yeah, maybe it’s really a 3 star kinda dive bar. But come on, with that name, I’m sold.

Oh 1919 Please Don’t Change If your time machine is broken and you want see what it was like to drink in Baltimore circa 1981 this is the place. Strong drinks. Limited Beer Selection. No suggestion of $ 12 sugary«house cocktails». The food menu is located on the Utz Potato chip rack. May I suggest the straight plain Utz chip. It’s lightly fried in cottonseed oil salted and placed in a small bag…35-cents and delicious. Who are you to resist?

Bartender will not let you molest the mannequin in the entry. Don’t even try. You will get yelled at. Other than that… it’s a good place to hear Johnny Cash era country/rock. Smells like cigs but it has an authentic dive bar feel. Cheap drinks.

Have you ever seen the movie«House of 1,000 Corpses» by Rob Zombie? Well this place looks like it’s from the film. The setting and decorations are creepy and the people in here are older and somewhat disgruntled at the fact of younger bar patrons. A group of friends and I just went in here just because and realized this bar wasn’t the place for us!

Quite a dive but they have cold beer, good service, and decent live music!

The staff is very friendly and the service is great. I also love the fact that they support many local and up-and-coming artists.

I don’t want to rag on anyone’s local corner bar(and it seems this one belongs to the previous 5-star reviewers) but objectively, I couldn’t really recommend 1919 to anyone. Yes, I was served a beer without waiting an eternity, but no other redeeming quality about the place jumped out at me. Pretty dusty and dingy overall– felt like I was hanging out in an attic. Honestly, if someone only had a day or two to spend in town, would you really take them here over Bad Decisions or Ale Mary’s? And those are just the two that are ONE block away!

This is an eclectic hole in the wall type of bar where the pool table is free(bc the money thing broke a while back) and local musicians like Caleb Stine play from time to time without forewarning. The walls are plastered with random photos and elementary school essays. But it feels like your own private bar and they have enough of a liquor and beer selection… but nothing too fancy. The staff is super nice too.

Ever just want to sit in a bar that isn’t crazy crowded and have a beer w/a little bit of peace(noone talking super loud next to you, shitty way loud music playing overhead)? 1919 is the place to be. The super nice/funloving owners live upstairs and their dogs(very pettable) will run around sometimes. Everyone in there is a regular. Some Sunday nights they have a great raunchy blues player. Go there for nothing fancy and a chill time.

Great little neighborhood bar with awesome dive-bar ambiance and good music. Most customers are regulars, but they are very welcoming of newcomers and stragglers who just want a good drink. 1919 is the kind of place where you make friends with just about everyone at the bar by the time you leave. It’s family owned and operated. You get a good sense of Baltimore just by talking to folks here. Highly recommended for the kind of person who likes a real bar without attitude.

True neighborhood dive bar! And I love it. If you are looking for tapas and/or the hottest red — this is NOT your place. They serve beer and classic cocktails. No blender, no mojitos, no fresh fruit period. What 1919 does offer is a smart aleck bartender(hey Dwight), good crowd, and good times… any place where starting a tab does not include handing over your ID or credit card — just your word… is a place I want to be! Oh yeah — and if you go ask if you can sample the baconaise!
